Drew Gibson LVC Champion

Drew Gibson performed wonderfully at the Las Vegas Challenge just two weeks ago. Though, Gannon Buhr did not concede easily to Drew. In an epic sudden death showdown of 4 holes, Drew left the tournament with the title of LVC Champion.

In commemoration of this, we are releasing some commemorative edition discs. This special stamp is a double single foil stamp. One stamp on the front, and another stamp on the bottom. The top stamp indicates that Drew is the LVC Champion, and the bottom stamp is Drew’s wonderful crown logo. They’re pretty cool, we’re excited about these discs and we’re excited for Drew winning as well!

As mentioned before, there are a handful of different molds that have these stamps on them. There are a few different ways on how you can see which molds have these stamps. To see them all, check out this link, this page will show you every single disc that has these stamps on it. Or you can follow the links below, these are to the individual molds:

Right now only the Scepter, Emperor, Exodus, and Falcor are available. Our team is working to get the other molds on as fast as they can. As the day/weekend goes on the other molds will become available. Be sure to check these limited edition discs, and any other disc golf need you may have right here at Infinite Discs.

Drew Gibson Apparel

Infinite Discs is now carrying more disc golf apparel. This apparel is unique as a portion of these proceeds will go to Drew Gibson. There are a variety of clothing items that sport his various logos, all to ensure that you can find a style or apparel that suits you. Whether for playing or for lounging, there is somethings for you.

We have a section within the apparel menu that is dedicated to these items. You can find all of Drew’s clothing under “Drew Gibson Apparel“.

Hats

There are a variety of caps available. Whether you need a cold weather beanie, a stylish flat brim, a comfortable floppy dad hat, or a good baseball cap; you’ll be able to find a hat that suits your needs.

Shirts

Drew provides a wide selection of shirts. There are short and long sleeved shirts. They are all cotton based shirts ensuring a good comfortable fit. Be sure to check these shirts out.

Shorts

The Evo Tie Dye Shorts is a sweat type short that is meant to be comfortable. Its tie die offers a stylish look as well. These shorts also offer a back pocket and hand pockets. You may place a pre-order for these now for $35.00.

  • 9 oz., 80/20 cotton/polyester blend
  • Relaxed fit with tapered knee opening
  • 100% cotton 30 singles face yarn
  • Elastic waistband with flat drawcord
  • Sewn eyelets
  • Sewn fly detail
  • Back pocket & jersey lined hand pockets
  • Woven label
  • Due to the nature of tie dye, loose pigments may remain on the surface of the garments. We therefore strongly recommend washing these garments only with like-colored garments, as some of the tie dyes may stain light or white colored garments in the wash cycle. Washing the garments in cold water will reduce the possibility of staining.

Hoodies

There are a handful hoodies, some lightweight and others a little bit thicker. There is a variety of colors, and different styled logos.

All preorder items have a tentative shipping date of sometime in the month of June.

Drew Gibson Signature Stamps & New Inca Release

Drew Gibson’s Inca

Yesterday we released the Inca, a new mid-range disc among the Infinite Discs line line. This mid-range is released with an epic Incan warrior. I imagine him charging the chains on the disc catcher. We’ve decided to start it off with a P-Blend Glow plastic. Allowing you to play a round of disc golf at night and during the day!

This is a great disc for the individual who is looking for a moderately overstable mid-range. It has a consistent flight with slight end-fade. You can also manipulate this disc fairly easily and it will hold most lines you put it on. The P-Blend Glow plastic feels good in the hand and has enough grip that it won’t slip out prematurely. Check out this great video that talks about the Inca and shows you the flight path. Thanks Taylor!

Drew Gibson’s Scepter

Disc golf fans have never seen a Scepter as majestic as the Drew Gibson signature edition. This control driver looks even better than it did before in this Swirly S Line plastic with this sweet signature stamp. Thanks Drew Gibson, yet again. You can get yourself this disc to add to your disc golf collection, whether it is for the wall or for you bag.

All of us here at Infinite Discs, we thank you all, for making it possible for us to provide awesome discs to our fellow disc golfers. Throw on!

Quick Putting Tip by Drew Gibson

In this quick putting tip, Team Infinite member Drew Gibson gives us advice to help improve our putting accuracy.

By focusing on spreading his fingers out along the bottom of the disc and thumb towards the center of the flight plate, Drew feels that he’s able to get better control of the angle and trajectory of the disc when he putts.

As you can see from this video, for Drew, this gives him a nice clean release and accurate putting stroke. Perhaps this tip can help you improve your putting as well.

Drew Gibson Joins Infinite Discs

Infinite Discs is proud and excited to announce our partnership with with touring pro Drew Gibson. Drew will be representing Infinite Discs for the 2020 season. Both Infinite and Drew are happy with the partnership. Drew will be throwing a mixed bag, including Infinite brand molds. He is looking forward to representing Infinite Discs.

“I think the (Infinite) brand is headed in the right direction, “ said Drew, “and I wanted to be a part of something that is growing.”

Get To Know Drew Gibson

Drew played in his first pro event late in 2012, and has been part of the touring scene ever since. He is well known for his ability to crush a drive over 600 feet, and do so with accuracy. He attributes his power to his fitness and form.

“I’d say my core strength and hips create most of the power. It’s just about being smooth,”said Drew, “and having a form that is duplicatable”.

That power and accuracy helped Drew cash at nearly every event he played this year. He feels that part of what gave him success this year was his progress on his mental game.

“I feel I’m on the final leg of becoming a well-rounded player, “ said Drew, “ not only physically, but mentally as well.”

Drew Gibson grew up in Sacramento, California playing baseball and racing dirt bikes. An injury in a preseason baseball game prevented him from throwing well and spelled the end of his baseball aspirations. So, he picked up disc golf to fill the competitive void. When he started playing disc golf he was surrounded by many of the big names in disc golf. He received encouragement from them and other locals, which pushed him to get better.

“There were a lot of players who had an influence on me over the years, “ said Drew. “Just to name a few would be Josh Anthon, Derek Billings, and Jim Oates.”

The Future

Drew said he was excited to represent Infinite for 2020. Not only for the freedom of disc selection, but with the opportunity to work with various manufacturers on special projects.

“I think the (Infinite) brand is headed in the right direction and I just wanted to be a part of something that is growing and see if we can’t work as a team to show the community what Infinite has to offer,” said Drew. “I think the goals for this year are large, and I think we can obtain them.”

When it comes to the near future, Drew has some simple, yet ambitious goals for the upcoming season.

“I just want to put myself in a position to win as many times as possible. I feel the more chances I have to close out an event the easier they’ll come”, he said. “I’d love to just have a strong season in 2020 and prove I can be consistent and battle for the big wins week in and week out.”

In addition to being optimistic about his future, he believes the sport will continue the growth it has been experiencing lately. He points toward Paul Mcbeth’s contract last year as evidence of a bright future for the sport.

“I think in 5 years the sport will grow tremendously. The stuff Mcbeth has done with promotion and such is just a peek into the potential I believe the sport has to offer.”

As for his longer-term outlook, Drew said, “ I’d just love to be in the mix in 5 years with Infinite on my back playing at the highest level still. I don’t think the sport or myself have cracked the potential of where it will be in 5 years.”

I want to do more than just be great at disc golf. I want to help accomplish a greater cause including increasing awareness of mental health.

Pro Tip

Asked for any advice Drew could give up-and-coming disc golfers, Drew said, “Smooth is far. The harder you try the more difficult it’ll be! Be smooth and find your groove. Don’t try to copy someone else’s throw, just work on your form and if you put in the time it’ll come.”

Drew has shown he has the talent, ambition, and knowledge to succeed in the challenging world of professional disc golf. All of us at Infinite Discs would like to welcome him to the family, and wish him all the best as he builds on last year’s successes heading into the 2020 season, and beyond!

Have You Heard Of These Disc Golf Brands – State of Disc Golf Survey

Although the sport of disc golf has been growing steadily for over a decade, none of the growth compares to the explosion in popularity that occurred during the pandemic. Disc golf was the perfect activity for social distancing, and many people discovered the sport during that time.

In addition to the increase in the number of participants of disc golf, we have also seen a growth in the number of new brands hitting the market. There have been new brands rolling out with regularity over the past decade, but the explosion in popularity of disc golf also saw a rapid increase in new disc golf brands. A quick check of the PDGA approved discs list (HERE) and we see that already this year there have been numerous new manufacturers getting molds approved. Even in the past month we see a couple new brands. It will likely take some time before people know about some of the new brands and the molds they are producing.

Which Brands Do We Know?

In the State of Disc Golf survey, we asked if how well everyone knew some of the newer brands on the market. We asked you to rank how well you knew each of 14 new brands. You could rank your knowledge from “Not aware of them” to “I regularly follow this brand”. Let’s take a look at which brands you know best and least.

Who Are They?

Let’s begin by discussing how you ranked each brand that you were unfamiliar with. Part of the challenge in starting a new brand is getting the word out about your molds and plastics. That can cost a lot of money that newer companies might not have. You can’t rely on a pro getting an ace on video using your disc, like Cole Redalen did with Wild Discs’ Sea Otter. Here is a graph showing how many of you didn’t know these brands.

Five brands have a similar percentage of individuals who are not aware of them. Momentum Disc Golf (Now Momentum Discs), Wing It Disc Golf, Goliath Discs, Premier Discs, and Pie Pan Discs are all within a couple of percentage points from each other. All of these brands are just a couple of years old, and only have a few molds. As they grow and add more molds to their lineup, maybe they’ll get more recognition. Word of mouth about a great disc can give a young company a big boost. Hopefully this blog will get people to check out these brands.

Sounds Familiar

Next, let’s look at the brands that people had at least heard about.

Birdie Disc Golf Supply and Doomsday Discs are two of the ‘most heard about’ brands on the list. Both of these brands have been featured in Infinite Discs’ blog series about smaller brands that we carry. Birdie is a Delaware company, and Doomsday is a very, very unusual company that is headquartered in Wyoming (I think) but uses a variety of manufacturers and distributors (Including Infinite Discs) around the world.

Check out the Birdie Disc Golf Supply blog HERE.

Check out the Doomsday Discs blog HERE

Joining Momentum at the bottom of the list is local (to Infinite Discs) manufacturer, Wing It Disc Golf. Check out the Wing It blog HERE. Only a small percentage of us have heard of these two brands. It will be interesting to see how they grow and become more well-known.

Know A Bit About Them

Moving on to the third level of knowledge about brands, we’ll look at how many of them we know some things about. Maybe we’ve been to their website or checked out discs that they make. Here is the chart:

At the top of the list we have two brands that have garnered some attention lately. Clash Discs has announced some big name pros that they are sponsoring. The move ensured that their name would be known among anyone who follows pros to any degree. They also advertise on live events, getting their molds in front of a big audience. Check out our blog featuring Clash Discs HERE

Trash Panda Discs had a decent-sized following long before they released their first disc. Jesse, the founder of Trash Panda, had a stated goal of manufacturing and producing discs that are made from recycled plastic and are fully recyclable. He achieved that goal and is now working to expand his lineup. I interviewed Jesse before Trash Panda was even a year old. Check out that interview HERE

Finish Line Discs is just a year old, but many of us know about the brand because it was started by one of the top touring pros, Drew Gibson. That certainly helps get exposure for a new company with just a few molds.

Let’s Chat About Them

Knowing about a company, and holding a conversation about the company, are two different things. To hold a conversation about a brand takes more than just seeing a commercial, watching a pro who throws the disc, or seeing one of their discs in someone’s bag. If we know a brand well enough to converse about it, that means that we’ve at least spent time checking out the company or listening to a buddy who throws their plastic. Here are the numbers:

Once again, Clash and Trash Panda are at the top of the list. UPlay made an appearance in the top five companies. That is the brand started by Infinite’s Zoe Andyke. UPlay has one disc, the Zeal. Their focus is on growing the sport of disc golf by introducing it to kids of all ages.

I Know Them Well

The final category which indicates the level of understanding is which brand we follow. These are the brands whose molds we are familiar with, and maybe we even throw some of their discs. Let’s look at the results.

Once again, Trash Panda has the highest percent. Over ten percent of survey respondents indicate that they regularly follow this brand. Since Trash Panda has a popular Youtube channel and a mission that resonates with a lot of people, it is not surprising that they are in the number one spot. The large gap between Trash Panda and the second place spot IS somewhat surprising. Their 10% number represents hundreds of people who took the survey. Well done, Trash Panda!

If we look at the number of people who either knows about the brand, can converse about the brand, and regularly follows the brand, we can find the brands with the most exposure to the disc golf public. Given the top two  brand in the last couple of graphs, the winner pretty much comes down to two brands. Drumroll, please…

Trash Panda edges out Clash by just a few percentage points! Both of those brands can feel proud about the attention they’ve been able to draw to their brands in an ever-growing competition for attention. Congrats to both brands!

Check out Infinite’s selection of the brands mentioned:
