YOUR Farthest Flying Discs: A Max Distance Survey

A professional disc golfer

When disc golfers talk about throwing for max distance, everyone has that one disc that just seems to stay in the air longer than anything else in their bag. We want to hear which disc in your bag you reach for when you need to crush your drive. What is YOUR longest-flying disc? We’re going to compile a list of the top discs and post the results in a blog.

Tell us about how far you are throwing on a full power drive and whether your max distance comes from a forehand or a backhand shot. Every arm speed and skill level matters, because the goal is to build a list that reflects real players and real throws, not just manufacturer numbers. To make things more fun, we will give out gift cards to random commenters.

Only one post per person. We need to approve each comment to avoid spam and bots, so don’t worry if you don’t see your post for a couple days. Your feedback will help other players discover new options and maybe even unlock a little more distance of their own.

Here are the questions:

  1. What mold and plastic do you reach for when you want to get the longest distance possible (assume that wind is not a factor)?
  2. About how far are you throwing on a max drive attempt?
  3. Is your max drive a forehand or backhand?

You can either number each answer, or answer it in a sentence. “I throw an Emperor backhand and get about 425 on a long drive.”
