In disc golf, midrange discs are versatile discs that are frequently used for shorter, controlled shots where accuracy is important. They have a variety of stabilities for nearly any situation you may find yourself. Although they can be used off the tee, they are commonly used for second or third shots, with the goal of finishing near the basket.
We’ll start by taking a look back to last year and the best midrange discs for the year.
Previous Top 50 Midrange Discs
Topping the list of the Best Midrange Discs previously was the perennial champion, the Discraft Buzzz. The beadless buzz has been around for decades and is one of the most popular discs of all time. It has a neutral flight and can be thrown on a slight hyzer, which will flip to flat and cruise for a long, straight flight. The Buzzz is the choice of many top pros. It is available in pretty much any plastic made by Discraft. One out of every six midrange discs that Infinite sold was a Buzzz.
Best Midrange Discs 2025
Now let’s look at the best midranges discs for last year to see any changes to the previous list.
Once again, sitting atop the list is the Discraft Buzzz. The difference between charts is the percentage of all midranges that the Buzzz represents. This year the Buzzz’s share of the market dropped from 16% previously to 8.7%. The drop was nearly half!
The Innova Mako3 moved up a couple spots, taking second place with 4.5% of all mids sold. A relatively newer disc, the Rollo, made its way into the top five, replacing the Infinite Anubis. The Rollo represented 4% of all mids sold.
Moved back a couple spots, but still staying in the top 5 are the Axiom Hex and the Innova Pig. The Hex led the pair with 3.7% of mids, vs 3.1% for the Pig.
Top Midrange Brands
Innova, Discraft, and Infinite Discs make up the podium, but Innova is on top with eight molds in the top 50. The top three brands sold a little more than one in four midrange discs for the year. With Discraft’s many pro signings recently, they could easily overtake Innova in the top spot. Axiom, MVP, Thought Space Athletics, and Kastaplast all had three molds in the top 50.

Aura Pathfinder/Eclipse Hex for favorite. Understable, Neo Origin. Overstable, Quake.
I would put my Piwakawaka right up there with the Buzzz and Mako3. Absolutely love it. Can’t give it enough praise.
My favorite Mid-Range is the Roc3 from Innova, but I’m also digging the Doomsday Desolation.
My favorite overstable midrange is the Matrix from MVP.
My favorite mid is the Gateway Element.
My favorite overstable mid is Innova’s Roc, and my favorite understable mid is the Discraft Stratus.
Favorite overall mid: TSA Pathfinder
Favorite overstable mid: Yikun Zheng
Favorite understable mid: Discmania Origin
My favorite midrange disc is Axiom Hex
Overstable midrange is Discraft Malta
Understable midrange is Clash Peach
Comet. Find the right one for you and you can do just about anything with it.
Favorite understable: Well-worn Comet.
Favorite overstable: RocX3
I love the roc3! Feels perfect out of the hand.
My favorite mid is the Mako3. It is the straightest and most versatile mid.
My favorite understable is the Rollo. Overstable would be the Roc.
Understable: I love the Uplink
My favorite is probably the Mako3 but I use a 137g Champion and a 141g DX.
I don’t think I’ve tried an overstable midrange since I’m still a beginner!
My favourite disc to use as a midrange is a Mirage. Goes further than my actual midranges and is dead straight! It’s quite understable so my less understable option is the Hawkeye even though that may not be considered a midrange either! So I guess I’ll say Mako3 if I had to choose an actual midrange lol
Favorite is a sleeper. Discmania Method in Neo is a chefs kiss. Best overstable is the Discraft Meteor in Z. That baby will get me through any tree with the right anni shot.
My go-to neutral mid is the Latitude 64 Trust
Understable – Discraft Sol
Overstable – Innova Toro
My favorite mid is the hex. I love the glide and the flight path I get out of it.
My favorite over stable is the caiman. Untestable would be the bounty. It flips up nicely and makes short range turn over shots easy.
My favorite mid is the Hex. It’s multi-purpose and I can always trust it.
For understable, I go with a harder toss of the Doomsday Discs Despair in Shockwave plastic. Throw it gently and it’s straight as can be, put a little more power on it and you’ll get a nice turnover line that fades back at the end.
For a more overstable finish, Doomsday Discs Desolation is my go-to.
Favorite midrange is the Infinite Discs Chariot
Favorite overstable mid is the Millennium Solstice
Favorite understable mid is the Infinite Discs Khonsu
My favorite overall mid is probably a Fission Reactor, but honestly so many other great torque resistant straight mids could also take this spot. Neutron Hex, Fuzion Truth, SP Rift, Sublime Mustang…these are all awesome straight midranges.
Favorite OS mid has got to be the Sublime Bobcat. Sneaky long, but still dependable in the headwind.
Favorite US mid is the toughest to pick for me, and I am actively trying to find a mold that I click with. Right now I’m throwing a Tursas in Elasto plastic. Jury is still out, but if I hit it right it certainly does some nice things.
Favorite midrange is an ESP Buzz.
Love the prism plasma Pyro.
Favorite mids: hex and kastaplast stig
overstable is prodigy mx-1
understable is mint lobster and kasta svea
Fav workable mid goes to the infinite chariot
Favorite midrange is Axiom Hex, best point and shoot midrange you can get.
Favorite overstable midrange is Axiom Pyro which is great on flex shots and understable is Discraft comet that is dependable for wooded course
My favorite mid is the Innova Mako 3, though I would like to try out a Buzz
My favorite overstable is the Roc3
My favorite understable is Innova Wolf
