In disc golf, midrange discs are versatile discs that are frequently used for shorter, controlled shots where accuracy is important. They have a variety of stabilities for nearly any situation you may find yourself. Although they can be used off the tee, they are commonly used for second or third shots, with the goal of finishing near the basket.
We’ll start by taking a look back to last year and the best midrange discs for the year.
Previous Top 50 Midrange Discs
Topping the list of the Best Midrange Discs previously was the perennial champion, the Discraft Buzzz. The beadless buzz has been around for decades and is one of the most popular discs of all time. It has a neutral flight and can be thrown on a slight hyzer, which will flip to flat and cruise for a long, straight flight. The Buzzz is the choice of many top pros. It is available in pretty much any plastic made by Discraft. One out of every six midrange discs that Infinite sold was a Buzzz.
Best Midrange Discs 2025
Now let’s look at the best midranges discs for last year to see any changes to the previous list.
Once again, sitting atop the list is the Discraft Buzzz. The difference between charts is the percentage of all midranges that the Buzzz represents. This year the Buzzz’s share of the market dropped from 16% previously to 8.7%. The drop was nearly half!
The Innova Mako3 moved up a couple spots, taking second place with 4.5% of all mids sold. A relatively newer disc, the Rollo, made its way into the top five, replacing the Infinite Anubis. The Rollo represented 4% of all mids sold.
Moved back a couple spots, but still staying in the top 5 are the Axiom Hex and the Innova Pig. The Hex led the pair with 3.7% of mids, vs 3.1% for the Pig.
Top Midrange Brands
Innova, Discraft, and Infinite Discs make up the podium, but Innova is on top with eight molds in the top 50. The top three brands sold a little more than one in four midrange discs for the year. With Discraft’s many pro signings recently, they could easily overtake Innova in the top spot. Axiom, MVP, Thought Space Athletics, and Kastaplast all had three molds in the top 50.

Shocked that the Detour did not make the list
1. My favorite mid right now is the negative discs ritual
2. My favorite overstable is the buzzz os and unbeatable is the fuse from latituide
Buzzz gets the overall win. Compass has been a close second lately. Mostly because it feels a lot like a Buzzz 🙂
Understable: Fuse
Overstable: Drone
1. Favorite midrange – The most underrated and fun midrange to throw is the Innova Atlas! It’s one of the few discs I’ve ever thrown that will go dead straight for 80% of the flight and then START turning. You can shape any line with it!
2. Favorite overstable midrange – I was so surprise and pleased to see the Legacy Recluse top the overstable midrange list because it truly is my favorite. I don’t see enough people throwing it. The mold feels so good in my hand and it’s the most trusty midrange to throw in every weather condition.
Favorite midrange, I’ve got to agree is the buzzz, but my favorite understable midrange has got to be the evidence
My favorite midrange is by far the hex just let it rip and it’s on a rope with minimal fade.
My favorite under stable midrange is the midnight prowl 1! Such and interesting flight with big turn and a fade at the end

The best midrange for me and to be the Axiom Hex.
OS Yikun Zheng
US Latitude 64 Fuse
My favorite midrange is my Glow Hex.
My favorite understable midrange is my Mako3
1 – What is your favorite midrange?
Westside Anvil, it’s extremely overlooked. Feels like a fairway driver making it easier to forehand. In the VIP plastic it skips hard and in base or soft plastic digs into the ground. I usually have 2-3 in the bag.
2 – What is your favorite over/understable midrange?
OS: Westside Anvil (See above)
US: The Prodigy M4 is more US than the flight numbers suggest and is great in the woods.
1. Glow reactor
2. Overstable= savior. Understable = lobster
1. Doomsday Despair – great alternative for the Buzzz, best in shockwave plastic
2. Overstable mid – Doomsday Desolation – weird rim shape that feels really good, and a predictable fade without being insanely overstable
Understable mid – MVP Uplink – if I hadn’t bought an Uplink on a salesman’s recommendation, I wouldn’t be playing disc golf today
Axiom Hex is the best mid range it’s so torque resistant perfect for any line you put it on. Second is the discmania origin perfect for hyzerflip and analyzers.
I have 4 mids in the bag that hit all the stabilities I need.
-glow ultra
-TI buzzz
-Conrad detour
-base m4
But my favorite is hands down the buzzz. It’s an OG the paved the way for all mids before it. It is the goat of mids.
Favorite mid is my Top Gun Buzzz.
Favorite overstable mid is my Verdict.
The best midrange is the mvp hex
Overstable is the ritual from negative
Understable is the mvp detour
Favorite midrange- Buzzz
Favorite overstable/ understable midrange- Buzzz OS/Buzzz SS
The Discraft Sol is also an awesome understable approach/mid.
