Best Forehand Discs for 2024
Recently we asked you about your farthest flying discs, including best forehand disc and best backhand disc. That blog post can be found HERE
In this blog we want to focus more on your favorite forehand discs. However, we want to know your favorite for when you just want raw distance, and what your favorite disc is when you are hunting for accuracy more than distance.
Best Forehand Discs for Distance
The quest for distance in disc golf often involves finding discs that can harness the power generated by a forehand throw. The ideal disc for distance should be able to handle the increased velocity of forehand shots. Some players swear by overstable discs that can resist turning over too quickly, while others prefer discs with a combination of speed and glide.
Best Forehand Discs for Accuracy
Finesse is the name of the game when it comes to accuracy in disc golf. Whether you’re navigating tight fairways or threading the disc through a tricky approach, having a reliable forehand disc for accuracy is essential. Stability, control, and a comfortable grip all play crucial roles in ensuring that your disc lands exactly where you intend.
Best Forehand Discs for Approach Shots
Some disc golfers favor sidearm throws for approach shots in wide open scenarios, while others opt for a forehand approach when the line is more conducive to such a shot. Regardless of the situation, the key is using a suitable forehand approach disc. It should be consistent, reliable, and capable of positioning you for an easy putt.

The number one choice for distance forehands is the Destroyer.
The longest throw averaged around 390
The number one choice for accuracy is the Firebird, but not by much! There were dozens of different molds chosen.
The Zone took the number one spot for forehand accuracy shots. The Berg was a close second.
1) My favorite disc for distance is the Rive, I have a few Fuzion Raptor eyes that have broken in for that extra glide with a strong finish.
2) I can get Max 400 ft right now with a decent headwind to help flip the disc up.
3) My most accurate disc is my Hybrid-x Suspect. I use these for pinpoint accuracy on upshots and hitting wood gaps. This disc has reliable stability and finish and feels absolutely great for forehand.
1) My favorite disc for forehand distance is probably the Discraft Hades. I have been able to hyzer flip the Hades pretty well and it tends to have a reliable fade for me as long as I release it correctly.
2) My max forehand distance is about 340′
3) My favorite forehand disc for accuracy has been the Mint Discs Grackle. For me, it has some good high speed stablity, and will push forward when thrown flat or even on a bit of hyzer before fading. Great for slight flex shots as well!
1 – My go-to forehand bomber would be the Star Wraith. Star plastic is grippy enough for me to snap my wrist hard, and its glide is impressive. It is just a touch overstable so it has the reliable fade to the right, but the turn really gives the disc enough distance to carry. Personally, given the Wraith some height and trusting on some slight anhyzer really propels the disc forward. For an 11-speed, it still crushes.
2 – I’ve snuck into the 400s before with the Infinite Pharaoh and the Dynamic Sheriff. Both are understable distance drivers, so I had to give them crazy height to pan out and drop to the right. It takes time to perfect the forehand angles, but when done right, you have a perfect, lengthy S drive.
3 – Maybe there is some bias here, as it was my first forehand disc, but Innova’s Firebird mold is my preferred shot-shaping forehand fairway. It has a predictable flight path and when some power is put behind it, it MOVES. My favorite shots with the Firebird are honestly the most frustrating; out of position, small gaps, or a crazy spike hyzer to get back on track. It’s the perfect utility disc, and it holds a permanent spot in my bag.
4 – For me, a Lucid Justice is the perfect forehand approach disc. With its overstability, I can carve through tight woods and widen fairways to drop next to the pin. It’s very torque-resistant as well, so I never worry about overturning—especially in windy conditions. The flat top slices through the air, and the rim is comfortable for a two-finger flick.
1 – My favorite forehand disc for distance is the Discraft Zeus
2 – My max forehand distance is around 100m
3 – My favorite forehand disc for accuracy is…hard question. Probably the Innova Firebird
4 – My favorite disc for forehand approach shots is the RPM Kea
Distance forehand disc is a DGA hurricane
447 was my biggest Distance on flat ground no wind.
My favorite for accuracy is a raptor.
Favorite forehand approach is a Z zone
1. Lately I like the Streamline Trace for distance shots — it’s only an 11-speed, but seems to handle a good amount of torque and can really glide if given the right height and angle.
2. I’ve crept over the 400 mark a few times, but more reliably in the 350 range for max distance.
3. MVP Resistor is underrated imho — I love the reliable stability and fade, great for hitting lines when you want a bit more control than a 9-speed like the Firebird.
4. Just picked up the Lat64 Savior and am loving it for anything inside 200ft — flat top, premium plastic, feels great throwing forehand.
1 – Favorite forehand disc for distance has to be the Thought Space Athletics Synapse. It’s not my furthest flying disc for forehand shots because of its stability, but it’s one of the most reliable discs in my bag and has an incredible stamp (which matters, obviously).
2 – Max distance is 425ft, but is usually closer to 350ft during a round.
3 – If I need a disc to land in a very specific spot, I’m choosing the MVP Motion. If the course is a little more wooded, I’ll grab an Innova Eagle for a straighter finish.
4 – This is the easiest question of the 4. Axiom Pyro, no contest. I don’t think it’s possible to make a better disc for forehand approaches than this one. Sometimes I’ll decide which course I want to play in my area based on how many times I get to throw my Pyro. It’s got enough of a straight flight to reach 300ft, and can take on even the windiest of conditions.
I FH best with both the Felon & Hex. Felon is reliably stable & the Hex flips to flat & stays straight.
1: Typically it is a pro Wraith on hyzer flip to turn but lately I’ve been mashing on a color glow champ Corvette on hyzer and it has been going far.
2: 395
3: ESP Zone for 200-250 ft accuracy, Mint Eternal Freetail for 300-350 ft accuracy.
4: ESP Zone.
Distance: Enigma
Max distance: 340 or so
Accuracy: Felon
Approach: Zone
1 – Discmania Cloudbreaker Special Blend. When it’s beat in that tacky grip can help put more torque in the throw.
2- Max average between 360-380. Getting up to 400!
3 – Discmania Skywalker. This disc is a point and shoot. You can torque it all you want and it will never burn. BUT the new special edition Vela disc by Calvin Heimburg has been slowly taking over that spot. Same speed numbers and they are $$$
4 – it used to be the Discmania Tactic, which I still use for forehands. But lately it’s been the Discmania Mutant. Anything below 300 ft I could pinpoint.

1 – What is your favorite forehand disc for distance?
I have typically used an Innova Champion Daedalus for forehands and forehand rollers because I love the flight it always gets.
2 – What is your longest distance with a forehand disc?
I have had a couple throws over 350 feet but most of those are rollers as I typically don’t throw forehand for distance.
3 – What is your favorite forehand disc for accuracy?
I recently purchased an Innova Star Wraith which is very predictable as it always flies the same. It allows for very good placement each throw.
4 – What is your favorite disc for forehand approach shots?
I actually don’t use forehand for approach shots but I might try that soon because I purchased several new Buzzz’s in different plastics.
