Best Disc Golf Fairway Drivers 2025
A disc golf fairway driver is designed for controlled distance and accuracy off the tee. Typically, it has a narrower rim compared to a distance driver, which allows for a more stable flight and greater control over a variety of throws. Fairway drivers are ideal for players who want accuracy, while still covering a substantial amount of ground. They work well for both beginners learning proper technique and experienced players looking for a disc that can handle a variety of shots, such as controlled hyzers, anhyzers, and straight throws. In this blog we will look at the best disc golf fairway drivers for 2025.
Best Fairway Drivers 2025
Much like our Best Putters of 2025 and Best Midrange Discs of 2025 blog posts, this week we will look at the Best Fairway Drivers of 2025. We’ll look at the top selling molds, the most popular brands, and the highest rated discs. Let’s start with the top molds for 2024, so we can look for changes:

Infinite Discs took two of the top three spots on the 2024 list, and four molds in the top 10. Taking first place is the popular Sphinx. The Sphinx accounted for 5% of all fairway drivers sold in 2024. It is a mold that I throw frequently.
Top 50 For 2025
Okay, now lets check out the top 50 control drivers for the first half of 2025:

The flippy fairway driver, the Sphinx held on to the top spot for 2025. Latitude 64’s River is off to a great start for 2025, reaching the podium. Two newer molds broke the top 10: Doomsday Discs’ Chemtrail and the Discraft Cigarra were both released within the past year, and still found a spot in the top 10. They join a long-time favorite, the Innova Firebird as top sellers.
Speaking of Innova, it looks like they had more molds in the top 50 than any other brand. The top 5 most popular brands remained the same and in the same order.
Top Fairway Driver Brands

Smaller brands such as Dino Discs and Mint Discs joined Westside with one mold in the top 50.

A quick check of the highest rated fairway drivers and we see that the Infinite Discs I-Blend Sphinx is the highest rated with 4.85 out of five stars. Tied for second place, just a tick behind the Sphinx with 4.84 is the Star TeeBird. They TeeBird is followed by a tie between the Lucid Felon and the Star Firebird. It’s easy to see why these molds sell so many discs. Based on the reviews, people really love them!
Highest Rated Overstable Fairway Drive
The highest-rated overstable fairway driver is a beefy disc from MVP, the Terra. The Terra is a disc that its reviewers absolutely love! It is an overstable mold that is in the James Conrad line of discs. It may not work as well for beginners. But, if you have a good arm you might want to consider this fairly beefy thrower from MVP.
Legacy had two Rivals in the top three, in second place is the Icon plastic, and in third, Pinnacle plastic.
Highest Rated Stable Fairway Driver
Fairway drivers that have minimal high-speed turn and fade
are considered ‘stable’. These discs are shapable to suit the needs of a particular situation. The mold with the highest rating in this category is the Infinite Discs Centurion. The speed 7 Centurion has a little bit of turn at high speed, and a relatively mild fade at the end of its flight. It has an Infinite rating of 4.86, making it one of the higher rated discs of any category. In second place for fairway drivers is the Discmania Essence, rated at 4.79. A couple tenths behind the Essence is the Innova TL3. The TL3 is a faster version of the TL, which is a less overstable version of the TeeBird. It has an rating of 4.59
Highest Rated Understable Fairway Driver
Sometimes you need a bit more turn on your throws in order to either shape the shot you want, or keep turning over until you get a roller. In other words, you need something understable. Here is a list of some of the highest-rated molds that have a bit more understability in their flight.
Sitting at the top of the list as the highest rated and top selling understable fairway driver is Infinite Discs’ Sphinx. It is a flippy speed 9 disc that can definitely give you some turn in your flight. The Sphinx is rated at 4.87 out of five stars. Second place is another speed 9 mold, the Innova Valkyrie. The Valk has a rating of 4.48. In third place a little behind the Valk is the Innova Leopard. The Leopard is rated 4.46.
Let us know your favorite fairway driver!
Those are our lists of the top fairway drivers with sales and ratings data. Let’s add to the data by hearing from YOU! Please answer one or more of the following questions.
1 – What is your favorite fairway driver?
2 – What is your favorite over/understable fairway driver?
Let us know if the comments below.

Favorite fairway? Raptor for sure. It’s my favorite overstable as well. I have a fast arm, so overstable discs fly stable for me haha
For my favorite understable, it’s a dynamic getaway. It technically isn’t one by stats, but for my arm speed it is lol
My favorite fairway has got to be the new Italian Discmania C-line FD. I never liked the flight or feel of teebirds, and discs like the river and crave go super far but weren’t quite stable enough for me. The new FD is that perfect mix of high-speed straight stable with forward fade.
Favorite understable fairway would have to be the river. This thing goes for miles effortlessly. Along with the Saint (which I would call a hybrid driver rather than a conventional fairway) it’s one of the easiest discs to get consistent distance. A bit touchy in winds but you can’t beat the glide.
I’ve been testing out several over the past couple seasons and have been really pleased with a number of them. Performance is comparable to each other, so can’t really give the victory to a single one as yet.
Favorite very-overstable: Omen
Favorite overstable: Thunderbird, Fu
Favorite stable fairway drivers: Mantra, Cosmos, Phenom, Escape, Centurion
Favorite understable fairway drivers: Gou, Vigil, View, Impulse, Sphinx
I will never ever have a disc golf bag without a Crave disc in it! The TSA Nuance is close behind it. Straight to stable fairway – Crave (forehand and backhand). Understable fairway – Nuance (definitely backhand, still mastering this one with the forehand)
I typically carry a couple of Firebirds, 2 Leopard 3s, a Doomsday Blackout, a Disctroyer Stork, a Avrey Jenkins T Bird and depending on the course two Sphinx. I also bag a Stig but not sure if that is a fairway or midrange.
Favorite: Firebird by a mile
Best understable: Sphinx
Forehand: Firebird, T Bird, Leopard 3, Stork
Backhand: T Bird, Leopard 3, Blackout, Sphinx
Furthest flying: Sphinx
For me the Sphinx is an exceptional disc, and the best straight to understable fairway driver out there but needs some room to work. It is faster than the other fairways I carry and in a pinch can double as a distance driver.
If I had to pick only one disc for the rest of my life it would be the Firebird. Absolute pin point accuracy. You know what it is going to do with any type of throw every single time. It does everything well except max distance.
Honorable mention, cosmic neutron Relay and Centurion. They have been booted out of the bag by the Leopard 3 for the moment.
I love the sphinx and the Valkyrie, although I kind of refuse to change the terminology of a nine speed. I haven’t been in disc golf that many years, but they were titled drivers right on the disc when I started, changed to control drivers, and now being redefined as fairway drivers. Some call an SUV a truck but it’s not. That being said my favorite straight and just overall fairway driver is the leopard three. I have a wooded course with tight fairways close to my home and it’s called the woodsman. The leopard three has helped me a ton here. The IT is probably my favorite under stable, and the Teebird my favorite over stable. Starting to love the dark rebel.
1 – What is your favorite fairway driver?
Axiom Crave
Forehand, Backhand, forehand roller, backhand roller – what won’t it do? Fight the wind.
2 – What is your favorite over/understable fairway driver?
Overstable: Discraft Raptor – 100% reliable in the wind
Understable: Lat64 Maul – just under stable enough with glide glide glide
My favorite fairway is the Latitude 64 Maul, straight initial flight with a gentle turn when released with slight hyzer. Big fan of the Crave for straight to slightly overstable.
MVP Terra love that disc just got one from the gyropalooza box love how it flys
I love my River and my F9 for my under stable.
Ohh baby this is hard! There’s so many good options here. Being a guy who likes underdog brands I’ve tried a huge number of discs and especially fairway drivers. At last count I have 29 different brands. I played for a couple of months with a bag that allowed only one disc per brand! That was tough to decide on but a fun exercise.
My current bag features a Divergent Kraken in Max Life plastic that’s become my understable fairway. Around that I seem to have settled on a beat in champ Teebird 3 and Eagle with an ESP Avenger SS and then the longest serving fairway in my bag is an Icon Legacy Vengeance.
Now if we’re talking glow bag then it changes a bit.
That’s stocked with a couple of beat in Max Grip glow Divergent Krakens, a Doomsday glow Blackout (despite it’s age it’s held it’s flight well), Axiom R2 glow Insanity, a stupidly stable Legacy Glow Vengeance and I just acquired a glow Teebird 3 to round it out.
Ohh so many discs to keep on trying. There’s always a disc or two rotating in and out to keep things fresh
1. Clash Discs Cookie
2. Kastaplast Idog
Favorite fairway driver has been the Eagle. Very predictable and easy to throw.
Fav turn disc this past year is the teebird. Holds a nice edge once beat in just right.
My favorite fairway is my glow FD. It seasons in nicely and goes as far as some of my 9 speeds.
Favorite overstable is a Barsby glow eagle. It’s like the 7 speeds version of a firebird.
Favorite understable is relatively new; the Doomsday Chemtrail (7, 6, -2, 1)! It has reliable turn right with slight fade. Could be used as a roller right out of the box!
Favorite overstable: Idog (best overall) Love the Idog!
second place: Volt
Favorite straight: Crave
second place: Cicada
Favorite understable: Chemtrail
second place: Rhythm
My favorite Fairway driver for some time now has been the Centurion, and just the same, it is my favorite understable Fairway driver. It is so crazy how easily controllable that driver is, just shreds up wooded lines!
I’ve got alot of fairway drivers right now, because I’ve been on a hunt to figure out what drivers I like, and ive got it narrowed down to 3 that are my favorites. The tumbleweed from lone star is my go to for a powerful H. Flip, and both the lotus, and cookie in tone plastic, from clash, are awesome for dynamic shots. My special run infinate lotus stamp is probably by far my favorite looking disc. I really want to try the hooligan yeet…. well…. just because the name honestly
Understable – 144g Star Roadrunner. It gets distance and stays straight!
My favorite is a Star Hawkeye 148g
1 – What is your favorite fairway driver? Definitely Axiom Crave.
2 – What is your favorite overstable fairway driver? Axiom Wrath.
3 – What is your favorite understable fairway driver? Axiom Virus.
