Top 5 Inexpensive Portable Disc Golf Baskets of 2019

In this blog I will discuss the top 5 most popular, inexpensive portable disc golf baskets for 2019. I hear a lot of people talk about the expense of getting a basket as though they are about to make a major purchase. While it is certainly possible to spend many hundreds of dollars on a new basket, it is also possible to get a quality practice basket relatively inexpensively. One of the best ways to improve in this sport is to practice putting regularly, and the best way to do that is to have a basket (or two) on hand for daily practice. So, lets jump in and look at the top five most popular baskets for 2019.

Top 5 Best Portable Disc Golf Baskets for 2019

Thinking about improving your game? Check out these top-selling portable baskets:

  1. DGA Mach Lite
  2. MVP Black Hole Pro
  3. MVP Black Hole Practice
  4. Axiom Pro
  5. Dynamic Discs Recruit

DGA Mach Lite Disc Golf Basket

The best-selling basket for 2019, and one of my personal favorites, is the DGA Mach Lite. This is a well-designed, inexpensive practice basket that is easy to set up and take down. It’s tough to beat the Mach Lite for portability and cost. No tools are necessary for set up. And the chains are  grabby for a portable. It also comes with a bag to carry the folded basket. I’ve had mine for about 5 years and it is still in good shape. The Mach Lite is a great basket if you will be transporting it from time to time.

MVP Black Hole Pro Disc Golf Basket

The next most popular portable disc golf basket is the MVP Black Hole Pro. The Black Hole Pro is a basket that is easy to set up and take down without tools. It has two rows of 12 chains to catch and hold your disc. The Black Hole Pro is a great example of getting a well-made basket at a reasonable price. The Pro is nearly the same quality level as a course basket. It is great if you want a good, grabby basket to practice with, and also want a great basket to use for temp holes during leagues or tournaments.

Black Hole Practice Disc Golf Basket

The third best selling basket is the little brother to the Black Hole Pro, and that is the Black Hole Practice basket. This basket is has lighter chains and no upper band compared to the Black Hole Pro. The Practice is lighter and easier to move around, and for a practice basket it is still grabs discs quite well. The Black Hole Practice is good for using at home, and occasionally using it as a temp basket.

Axiom Pro Disc Golf Basket

The Axiom Pro basket is a great choice, offering quality and portability at a good price. It is powder coated and comes in bright colors. The Axiom Pro easily sets up and breaks down without tools. The heavy duty chains provide good disc-grabbing power. The Axiom has 24 chains, and is another basket to consider if you want to practice at home, but still use as a quality temp basket for leagues or tournaments.

Dynamic Discs Recruit Portable Basket

Rounding out the top five portable baskets is the Dynamic Discs Recruit. This beefy basket is slightly larger than most practice baskets. Its two rows of chains will stop a speeding disc in a hurry. To aid in moving the basket around, the base has a wheel attached. While the Recruit is priced higher than the rest of the top five, it is also the sturdiest and heaviest. It does need tools to take it apart to move, and it is heavier to lift once disassembled. However, it does come apart relatively easy. The quality of the Recruit is exceptional. To be that well-built and sturdy at that price point is impressive. I’ve spent many hours putting on a Recruit, and I love the basket. It’s a great basket if you want a top-of-the-line quality at a reasonable price and you won’t be breaking it down frequently. If you are looking for something that you can transport frequently, I would consider something a little smaller/lighter.

It certainly is a good time to be in the market for a portable disc golf basket. The quality of the available baskets at the low price points means you can get a basket to improve your game without spending a ton of money. Check out our selection of baskets today and get on your way to lowering your scores.

TOP TWENTY TUESDAY – NOVEMBER 12TH 2019

Welcome to another Top 20 Tuesday sales chart. We break these charts down by plastics as well so you can see which plastic types are most popular for each disc. New discs will often spike in the chart as other top sellers shuffle position. The chart is created by sales figures that are pulled from all Infinite Discs sales for the previous week — our customers decide the results with their purchases.

Top Twenty Tuesday for November 12th, 2019

#1 – Tour ESP ANAX
#2 – Signature Swirly S-Line DD3
#3 – Ethos MANTRA
#4 – Star DESTROYER
#5 – K2 Glow BERG
#6 – Swirly S-Line FD
#7 – D-Line P2
#8 – K1 Glow BERG
#9 – K1 Glow GOTE
#10 – Cosmic Electron Firm ENVY
#11 – R-Pro PIG
#12 – Metal Flake Glow C-Blend SPHINX
#13 – Star WRAITH
#14 – Cosmic Electron Soft ENVY
#15 – Signature Swirly P-Line P2
#16 – Zero Medium Moonshine PURE
#17 – Discraft Special Blend LUNA
#18 – ESP ZEUS
#19 – Star Firebird FL
#20 – ESP BUZZZ

The chart this week was shuffled around quite a bit by new disc offerings. The Tour ESP ANAX jumped to #1 as a Paul McBeth “1060 rated” release in limited quantities. So, it spiked, but won’t stay at the top because of limited quantities. The return of the Signature Swirly S-Line DD3 “Cloud Breaker” pushed that disc to #2. The new, debut disc release by Thought Space Athletics, the MANTRA in Ethos plastic jumped to #3 which is great for their first disc release.

The Kastaplast glow run of BERG and GOTE discs remained on the top 20 chart this week, as did two different ENVY discs, thanks to the popular Goblin King stamp on those.

Here is a look at how many times different brands showed up on the chart this week:

–> Each week we’ll invite you to leave a prediction for a certain chart position on next week’s TOP TWENTY TUESDAY report. The person to predict that chart position correctly in the comments will win a $10 gift card for the Infinite Discs website.

WINNER – The number 6 spot was taken by the Swirly S-Line FD. It appears that nobody saw that one coming, as a newer release and without a signature stamp. It’s just a cool FD. So, no winner this week, but give it a try for next week!

Best Economy Disc Golf Bags of 2019

Players are always looking for the best disc golf bags. As the disc golf season winds down for 2019, we thought it would be great to look back at the year and see what products and accessories were the most popular. That kind of information can come in handy for people looking for a gift for the disc golfer in their life. Or for someone considering making a purchase for themselves.

We are going to start with a very popular genre of disc golf bags, the Economy Disc Golf Bags. These are entry level bags that are good not only for people just starting out in the sport, but great for die-hard golfers who want to play a quick round, or who want to improve their game by throwing a round using only a couple discs. These bags are relatively inexpensive, ranging in price from $19.99 to $79.99, hold a decent amount of discs, and usually have room for a drink and some snacks. Once most of us have been in the sport for a while, we carry enough discs that the economy bags are not an option for regular use. Especially with the necessity to carry food and water during long rounds and tournaments. But, even when you move to a bigger bag, as mentioned, opportunities still arise to use the smaller bags. Let’s take a look at the top sellers in this category, in order of popularity.

Top 5 Inexpensive Disc Golf Bags

If you’re looking for a great low price disc golf backpack, consider from our top selling list:

  1. Dynamic Discs Trooper Backpack
  2. Infinite Discs Slinger Bag
  3. Infinite Discs Stealth Bag
  4. Prodigy BP3 Disc Golf Backpack
  5. Innova Discover Backpack

Dynamic Discs Trooper Backpack

Leading the pack (pardon the pun) is the popular Dynamic Discs Trooper. At $39.99 the Trooper is not the least expensive in the category, but it holds more than the rest on the list. It can carry about 18 discs in the main compartment and 3-4 discs in the upper compartment. It has a water bottle holder, and a little bit of storage for snacks, etc. The construction of the bag is good, ensuring a long life on the disc golf course. The bag comes in several colors.

Infinite Discs Slinger Bag

The next most popular disc golf bag on the list is the Infinite Disc Slinger. This pack is perfect for the beginner or experienced disc golfers who want to to play a round with variety of discs, but not all of their throwers. It holds about 10 discs, and can handle larger discs like the Condor. The single-sling design can be adjust for either shoulder. It has a drink holder for your water bottle and a pocket for miscellaneous items. The Slinger is at the low end of the category price scale at $19.99.

Infinite Stealth Bag

Infinite Stealth Bag w/Bladder

The third most popular Economy Backpack Bag is the Infinite Stealth Bag. This popular bag is a kind of a niche bag. With only room for up to eight discs, the Stealth Bag is perfect for speed rounds, tough mountain courses, traveling light, or rounds using only a few discs. Though minimalist by design, the Stealth still has a water bottle holder and a pocket for snacks, phones, etc. The sleek bag even has a version with a two-liter water bladder to keep you hydrated as you play. The regular Stealth is the model that earned the third place spot, while the bladder version came in sixth place. The Stealth runs $29.99 for the regular bag, and $37.99 w/bladder. As of this posting, we are out of the Stealth and Stealth w/Bladder. We don’t anticipate getting more until 2020. Watch our weekly newsletter for updates.

Prodigy BP3 Economy Disc Golf Bag

Prodigy BP3

The Prodigy BP3 is next on the list. This bag holds up to 17 discs. It has two zippered pouches and a drink holder. It also has a deep putter pocket on the top of the bag. The BP3 has reinforced, padded straps for comfort. The bottom of the bag is made with a waterproof material, making it great for mornings when there is dew on the ground. This bag, like the Trooper, can be used as a backpack for school, vacations, hiking, etc. The BP-3 sells for $29.99.

Innova Discover Pack

The final economy disc golf backpack on our list is the Innova Discover bag. This bag holds up to 15 discs. It has an internal U-frame with a divider to keep the discs from flopping around when the bag is not full. It has a Velcro pocket on one side and a drink holder on the other. It also has a zippered putter pouch on top. Use the bag on the disc golf course, day hikes, or as a school bag.  The discover back ties the Slinger for the least expensive bag at $19.99.

The price point for this category of bags makes them attractive to beginners and veteran players looking for a smaller bag. They are great for someone just starting out, or for youth players who aren’t quite big enough for a larger bag. Check out our full line of economy bags here: Economy Disc Golf Backpack Bags

Also scraping the chart was the LED Putter by Nite Ize. As darkness comes earlier now, the Nite Ize discs have been selling well and have also been discounted. Top-Selling Infinite Discs Brand

Infinite Discs launched a line of discs in early 2018 in partnership with Innova Champion Discs. Since then, several molds have been introduced into the market. While some are very new and haven’t had as much time to earn a reputation or build sales momentum, a few are starting to stand out as favorites.

Here is a look at the top 10 best-sellers for the Infinite Discs brand so far…

#1 – PHARAOH – Distance Driver

#2 – EXODUS – Fairway Driver

#3 – SPHINX – Fairway Driver

#4 – TOMB – Putt and Approach

#5 – SLAB – Utility Distance Driver

#6 – CHARIOT – Mid-Range

#7 – MYTH – Putter

#8 – EMPEROR – Distance Driver

#9 – ANUBIS – Mid-Range

#10 – RA – Mid-Range

It is probably no surprise that the Pharaoh has more than doubled the sales of any of the other disc models so far. It has been a popular distance driver and each run has had its own profile and flight characteristics, which makes it a fun disc to fill a bag for a multitude of uses. You can see a Pharaoh Run Comparison Log HERE:

http://infinitediscgolf.com/InfiniteLine/Discs/distance-drivers/pharaoh/

The Exodus comes in 2nd place as a great fairway driver for players of all levels. It handles torque well and can be powered for long distances even with it’s smaller rim configuration. You can see a log of the Exodus Runs HERE:

https://infinitediscgolf.com/InfiniteLine/Discs/control-drivers/exodus/

In terms of momentum, the Sphinx is on a fast trajectory to catch the Exodus as it has become a fun favorite for new players who want a driver that is easier to keep straight, or for experienced players who love it for hyzer-flips and anhyzer lines. The Metal Flake Glow C-Blend edition Sphinx ended up quite a bit more stable than the I-Blend, earning it a spot even in the bags of power throwers who love to flip it out for impressive distances.

The Tomb is also a disc that has gained momentum since its release.  It has become best known as an approach disc or small-diameter alternative to traditional mid-range discs. There are some players who have reported using it as a traditional putter, but with its flat top and low profile, it seems to have gained favor as a throwing putter in the premium plastic blends like S-Blend, I-Blend, and C-Blend. It can be laced down very narrow fairways with pin-point accuracy.

The Slab comes in 5th as a total utility distance driver. It is very overstable with a very flat top. It recently has gained a little bit of attention in the Jeremy Koling signature edition in “Concrete Plastic” which is a mix of metal flake and luster C-Blend.

Some of the newer models are yet to catch up with the 2018 releases, but the Emperor is starting to make a move as a more overstable distance driver than the Pharaoh. It is comparable to the popular Innova Destroyer. It will be fun to see what else catches on!

Top 100 Discs – First Half of 2019

Top 100 Discs

Welcome to another statistics blog! These are some of my favorite blogs to write and look at, since we can see some fun data about the sport we’ve grown to love! Today we’re going to be looking at some of the top discs, specifically the Top 100 Discs from the first half of 2019.

Disclaimer – This data is all from InfiniteDiscs.com, the biggest online retailer. This data is from discs sold this year- hundreds of orders shipped per day to all across the country and world.

top 100 discs chart

# of times brands appear chart

Discraft vs Innova

First off, we notice that the Destroyer is still clenching the #1 spot, even after McBeth’s switch to Discraft. The Zeus and Luna, however are making a run for the top. They come in at 4th and 5th place respectively. The Anax was released shortly after the first half of the year, so it didn’t quite make it to the chart.

Innova appears more than 30 times on the chart, while Discraft is just under 20. Last year, this was definitely a different story; Discraft has grown a lot this year.

Infinite Discs

In the second year of having our own line of discs (produced by Innova), we have 5 discs on the chart. One of them, the Pharaoh, makes the #9 spot. The Pharaoh has definitely been our hottest mold. This is a little biased, however, because currently the only place to get our line up is from our own website. We will wholesale our own line later this year.

Discmania & MVP

Discmania & MVP both have nine entries on this list. These are two awesome disc golf companies that have been exploding in popularity recently! Axiom has the Envy at #11, and Discmania has the P2 at #3 and the FD at #13.

Honorable Mentions

The Pig snags the #46 spot, largely due to Ricky Wysocki putting in his new Innova bag this year. People have started to take notice of his silky smooth pig throws!

The Orc has the #33 spot, due to an influx of some really cool Pre-Flight number Orcs that we’ve come across. People say these are the best of the Orcs, so check them out!

Kastaplast has two entries on the top 100, the Reko (#60) and the Berg (#63). Kastaplast has been putting out some really unique feeling plastic and people are loving them! The Berg and Reko are some awesome putt & approach discs worth looking into.

The MINT Discs Alpha barely snuck onto the chart at the #98 spot. MINT Discs is an up and coming company with two very good molds, the Alpha and the Bobcat. MINT has it’s fan club set in stone, with popularity growing!

Let’s Discuss!

  • Let us know how many discs you throw from the top 100!
  • Next, we’ll do a top 100 for the entire year of 2019. Which discs do you think will make the chart? The Anax?
  • Which brands do you think will grow more this year and next?
  • Which discs deserve to be in the top 100?

TOP TWENTY TUESDAY – JULY 23RD 2019

Welcome to another Top 20 Tuesday sales chart. We break these charts down by plastics as well so you can see which plastic types are most popular for each disc. New discs will often spike in the chart as other top sellers shuffle position. The chart is created by sales figures that are pulled from all Infinite Discs sales for the previous week — our customers decide the results with their purchases.

Top Twenty Tuesday for July 23rd, 2019

#1 – ESP ZEUS
#2 – ESP ANAX
#3 – Discraft Special Blend LUNA
#4 – Metallic Opto Trident
#5 – Star DESTROYER
#6 – D-Line P2
#7 – Star WRAITH
#8 – 400 MX-3
#9 – Neo METHOD
#10 – DX AVIAR

#15 – DX AVIAR CLASSIC
#16 – Champion MAKO3
#17 – R-Pro PIG
#18 – Champion FIREBIRD
#19 – Star VALKYRIE
#20 – K1 FALK

Notice, we’ve got a new look to the Top 20 Tuesday chart now. The lines on the graph will be colored, based on the brand. That way you can see which colors are standing out each week and where brands are jumping in.

The top three lines are blue, ruled by Discraft with the #1 Zeus, #2 Anax, and #3 Luna. Those were the only three spots taken by Discraft this week as Innova (represented in red) flooded the Top 20 with a bunch of old favorites, taking 11 of the top 20 positions. That is likely due to the ongoing Innova restock we’ve got going here at Infinite Discs (it takes days to add an Innova shipment lately, since they come on pallets).

The four spot is taken by the Metallic Opto Trident, which we have only added to our online store quietly, in small bursts, but they keep getting snapped up. We also see three entries from Discmania, including the usual P2, and the popular new Method midrange, and the Tiger Warrior putter. The Kastaplast FALK sneaked into the #20 spot this week.

–> Each week we’ll invite you to leave a prediction for a certain chart position on next week’s TOP TWENTY TUESDAY report. The person to predict that chart position correctly in the comments will win a $10 gift card for the Infinite Discs website.

WINNER – The #7 spot was taken by the Star Wraith this week. Colin guessed it first, with a later guess by Matt who said “because why not?” Well sure, why not? But sorry Matt, Colin guessed it first this time, so he takes the prize.

GIFT CARD PREDICTION FOR NEXT WEEK:  Leave your comment below to guess the #8 spot for next week. Good luck!b
