Introducing: Lucky Discs

If you hop on a boat leaving New York City and travel across the Atlantic, you might pass through the English Channel and into the North Sea. If you continue your journey, you might pass near Denmark and into the Baltic Sea. Traveling north out of the Baltic Sea you will enter the Bothnia Sea. Near the west coast of the Bonia Sea is the city of Pori, Finland.

Pori is home to one of the oldest Jazz festivals in Europe. The city has a local food called “porilainen” (which is a sausage-based type of sandwich), and a church building that dates back to the 13th century. And Pori is home to Lucky Discs.

Lucky in the USA

Although we like to carry more disc golf brands than anyone on earth, it isn’t very often that we get to have a visit from representatives of the brand. That was the case when Pekka and Andy stopped by our shop/warehouse to say hi and show us their discs. We enjoyed our visit with them, and wanted to feature them in our blog series about the different brands that we carry. Let’s learn about Lucky Discs!

Introducing Lucky Discs

Lucky discs bank robberAlthough they are not the newest disc golf brand around, they are still new by disc manufacturer standards. Lucky Discs was officially founded just three years ago, in 2022, by Tero Pesola and his team. As long-time disc golf enthusiasts, the team wanted to design and create stylish discs that reflect their vision for the sport. From that idea, Lucky Discs was born.

With the goal of creating unique discs instead of just copies of other disc, the folks at Lucky decided to get their discs manufactured in Finland. And they got some assistance from local disc golf pro, Kai Vesa. With a manufacturer and a pro on their team, they got to work creating perfect discs for the disc golf community.

Birth of a Brand

In May of 2022, the first mold from Lucky Discs, lucky discs money shotthe Money Shot, was officially PDGA approved. The Money Shot is a beefy beadless approach putter that can handle big arms for precision approach shots, and is a great utility disc for everyone.

After the Money Shot, Lucky got two other molds released. The Bank Robber is their control driver that is available in their premium plastics. The Treasure Hunt is a high-speed driver with a ton of glide (picture a Destroyer, but with more glide).

A Mold By Any Other Name

lucky discs treasure hunt The naming convention for their molds is simply rooted in real-life rounds. Certainly, all of us have been hunting for the treasure of an ace! Many of us have robbed our buddies of a victory by executing the perfect hole. And another name for a winning shot is a Money Shot. It will be fun to see what other themed names their team dreams up out on the course!

So far, the hot seller for Lucky is the Bank Robber in Premium plastic. In fact, Premium is their most popular overall plastic. It is extremely durable and feels great in the hand, and it is favored by power players. Their other plastics include Basic and Ultrium.

Coming Soon…

Soon to be added to the Lucky Discs line is a stylish midrange disc. They expect it to launch soon, and fill an important niche for the brand. It will be perfect for short drives and approach shots.

As for the future of the brand, they say that things are looking great. They have been receiving encouraging feedback from U.S. disc golfers and retailers. Moving forward they will continue to court American buyers, and continue to supply the European market. They are aiming for strong growth, believing that there will always be a solid demand for high-quality, stylish discs.

The Future of Disc Golf

They are just as optimistic about the future of the sport. Although disc golf growth has fluctuated the past 20 years, it has steadily climbed. As more countries discover disc golf, our community will grow. A great example of this global sport is the 2025 World Championships being held in Finland. It is the first time that Worlds has been held outside of the US.

“Disc golf is a sport for everyone”, Lucky Discs founder Tero Pesola said. “Every player can set their own goals, and there is always something new to learn.”

When asked what makes Lucky Discs unique, Pesola said, “The uniqueness of Lucky Discs is based on a genuine desire to do things the way we would want them done for ourselves – out of love for the sport.”

Infinite is sure that any brand with that empathetic approach and sincere attitude is welcome in disc golf!

Introducing H13 Disc Golf

A stack of new H13 disc golf discs

If you hop on Interstate 35E in Dallas and head south the road merges with 35W to become Interstate 35. Continuing south, you’ll pass through Waco and Austin before you arrive in the Texas city of San Antonio. San Antonio is home to several military bases, great Tex-Mex food, the Spurs basketball team, and the Alamo. And it is home to H13 Disc Golf.

New Disc Golf Brand

One of the newer brands in the market, H13 Disc Golf isn’t even a year old as a manufacturer. The brand started as an online retail shop in the middle of the summer of 2023 under the name Hole 13 Disc Golf Shop. From the beginning, their goal was to become a manufacturer. But first they wanted to learn the disc golf business. In early 2024 they acquired their first molds and began testing and production. The name Hole 13 Disc Golf Shop was shortened to H13 Disc Golf, and they officially launched as a brand on July 1, 2024.

Rack full of new H13 disc golf discsH13 Disc Golf was started by Jericho and Jennifer Jimentel, who had a goal of living a higher quality, experience-driven lifestyle, hence the name of the company. Experiencing fertility struggles, the couple knew that the stress of their jobs was a factor in preventing them from starting a family naturally. They wanted to do work that they loved and that gives back. Although Jericho continues to work full time, Jennifer has scaled back her hours outside of H13 so she can dedicate more time to their new company.

Four Molds to Start

The plan for H13 Disc Golf was to release four molds at once. Those molds are: putter (Embark), approach (Companion), fairway (Adventurer), and distance driver (Wanderlust). These molds were designed for the average disc golfer. The most popular mold is the Wanderlust, which flies like it’s already beat in. They will be releasing their fifth disc soon, an overstable mid.

Most of the molds come in several different plastic types. They offer a base blend (Home A disc golfer holding an H13 discBound) and 3 premium blends: Night Bound (glow), Journey Bound, and Adventure Bound. Journey Bound is a premium, opaque blend. Adventure Bound is a gummier, translucent premium blend. Currently, only the Wanderlust is available in Adventure Bound, however the Companion will be available soon in that plastic.

Naming Convention

As you can tell, the mold names were chosen to reflect the founders’ desire to spend less time in the rat-race, and more time experiencing life! The names are centered on their thirst for adventure. Embark, Wanderlust, Companion, and Adventurer all communicate a philosophy of exploration of the world around us. That desire to be outside and enjoying nature is the very embodiment of the sport of disc golf!

Team H13

Disc golfer holding an H13 disc golf discAlthough H13 isn’t currently big enough to sponsor touring pros, they gladly support and sponsor many amateurs across the country. Their Sage Team is made up of around 30 amateur players. The owners attribute much of their growth to the team.

In addition to the Sage Team, H13 is working toward a partnership with an organization called Morgan’s Wonderland. Morgan’s has a theme park specifically created to accommodate people with disabilities. Part of Jericho and Jennifer’s mission is to give back to the community and raise money for different causes and Morgan’s Wonderland would be a great organization to do fundraiser events for.

Looking to the Future

In considering the future of disc golf, H13 hopes the sport will grow to the point where even more players can tour, without the financial burdens of living on the road. And for those who are content to play as an amateur, H13 Disc Golf hopes that more municipalities will support adding courses to make the spot more accessible to everyone.

Although H13 Disc Golf’s discs are only a few weeks old, they are optimistic about their Rack full of H13 disc golf discsfuture. They are a young brand with energetic and outgoing owners. The couple is developing a unique way to support players on their team with commission opportunities. They are also setting up a program for stamp artists so they can get paid per use of their art instead of a flat fee, giving the artist a great potential upside for their work. And they will continue to establish working partnerships with charitable organizations. They are truly Embark-ing on a fun Adventure!

Streamline Discs – Single Mold Golf Discs Manufactured by MVP

Streamline Disc Golf Discs

This morning, MVP Disc Sports introduced their new brand — Streamline Discs. Unlike the existing Axiom and MVP brands, Streamline discs will not feature the double mold “Gyro” technology but will be composed of a more traditional single mold plastic.

With MVP’s disc manufacturing experience, they claim that they will be able to make more consistent single mold discs at a less expensive cost:

For seven years we’ve been making far more complex discs than the competition, literally doing twice as much production per disc, all while keeping prices matched with the other guys. We’ve had to build the industry’s best order automation systems at MVP Distribution HQ to meet those prices.

Now with the streamlined efficiency we’ve built, we can produce a classic single piece disc (what we call a solo-mold) that’s molded better than the best out there, we can stamp it standard with 3-foil stock artwork, and we’re still able to beat the price of anyone out there.

While we are not sure of the official release of Streamline Discs, we do know that the initial release will include the Trace Driver and Pilot Putter. We look forward to releasing these discs soon at Infinite Discs.
