Focus Friday – Harp

Focus Friday is back! We are starting it off with the Westside Harp. That means over the weekend, you can buy this disc at InfiniteDiscs.com at a 10% discount!

The Harp is a very overstable approach putter. I’ve had great success flicking it, using it on hyzer throws, and for straight approaches. It is a trusty putt-and-approach disc that can handle some power. I’ve been throwing the Harp in BT Hard plastic which has some good grip to it and it can handle some tree hits and rough landings on rocks. Despite all the collisions I’ve put it through, I haven’t noticed much of a loss in the BT Hard Harp’s stability. This is a fantastic driving putt and approach disc!

Here is a look at a few of my throws with the Harp, trying it out both forehand and backhand at different angles. This helps illustrate the difference between my old, beat-in Harp and a brand new one.

Head on over to our site and pick one up this weekend. Use the discount code FOCUSHARP and you’ll get 10% off. It’s a great time to restock or try out the disc.

Note: After placing your discs in the shopping cart and before checking out, click on the “Discount Code” box under the shopping cart and enter that code. Then proceed to checkout.

Which disc would you guys like for us to focus on next week? Post in the comments below.

Focus Friday – Infinite Discs Scepter

For our Focus Friday this week, we are going to spotlight the SCEPTER by Infinite Discs. Originally PDGA approved on April 3rd of 2019, the Scepter is an overstable control driver with a flat top and a 1.9cm rim thickness. It was designed together with manufacturer Innova Champion Discs to provide a Firebird-like disc that always has a flat top. Flat-topped discs are very popular with power throwers or those who primarily drive forehand. The flat top gives forehand throwers a better grip with the thumb on top of the disc and more controlled release. The design has also proven very useful when throwing into headwinds or when throwing high, spike-hyzers that need to drop from above onto the target.

THE SCEPTER

The Scepter can be wielded with strength and confidence on the course. The limited edition first release had a cool, 2-color stamp and the stock stamp came out shortly afterward on C-Blend plastic with a total run of 800 discs.  The 2nd run was a special edition in Metal Flake Glow C-Blend, which turned out even flatter on the top and looked great. So far, those were used for tournament support and in a limited edition with a Scorpio Zodiac stamp (originally released in the VIP Club Store).

The C-Blend SCEPTER was picked by professional FPO disc golfer, Nicole “Pickle” Dionisio to be her  signature disc, since she is a strong forehand player and loved the feel of the disc. She is a great member of Team Infinite. Her signature edition features a beautifully intricate stamp design by Thought Space Athletics (another of her sponsors).

Here is a 60-second video review of the SCEPTER by Taylor AuBuchon which shows the disc’s overstable flight characteristics. You can also see the limited edition 2-foil stamp in his review.

FOCUS FRIDAY – The Mantra by Thought Space Athletics

For our Focus Friday this week, we are going to spotlight the debut disc release by Thought Space Athletics. THE MANTRA was PDGA approved on October 17th, 2019 and has since been introduced into the disc market in three plastic types: Ethereal plastic (a limited edition run for the VIP Club), Ethos, and Aura. Let’s take a look at the Mantra!

MANTRA by Thought Space Athletics

The Mantra is a straight-to-understable driver which is designed to be easily managed for players of all skill levels. If you’re a newer player or don’t have a lot of arm speed, then you should still be able to handle the Mantra for great distance on the course. It could be compared to discs like the Innova Valkyrie, or the Discraft Heat. The plastic is durable yet somewhat tacky for a great feel.

MANTRA FLIGHT RATINGS

Speed: 9.0

Glide: 6.0

Turn: -2.0

Fade: 1.0

Here is a video look at the MANTRA by professional player, Drew Gibson. Keep in mind that Drew is known for his power and he admits that this particular disc is not really the best option for him, except as a roller. If you’re a power thrower, then the Mantra would turn more noticeably and become a roller utility disc.

For the next week, until the 1st of February, you can use this promo code to get yourself a MANTRA for 10% off:

CLICK HERE TO SHOP FOR THE MANTRA.  Simply add the Mantra to your shopping cart, then BEFORE you click to checkout, look below the shopping cart. We hope that you love throwing the Mantra by Thought Space Athletics, and we look forward to their next disc release!.

Focus Friday – Innova Foxbat

We’re excited to continue our Focus Friday blog where we take a day of the week to look at specific discs. We may not get a focus put together every week, but we’ll try to keep some fresh discs in the spotlight on a somewhat regular basis.

Our New Focus Friday Features the FOXBAT by Innova

The FOXBAT is a classic mid-range disc by Innova which has kind of lost its original place in the spotlight to other straight-flying mids in the Innova lineup like the Stingray or Mako3. However, it held onto a faithful following of players who love it for it’s ability to handle touchy, precision shots. If you have low arm speed and just need an understable disc that will fly straight for a couple hundred feet, then the Foxbat is an excellent choice. Or, if you’re an experienced player who needs an approach disc for easy placement or for anhyzer flights, it can fill that spot in your bag.

But why would we choose to focus on this older disc model? Word on the street is that the classic Star Foxbat is planned for removal from the Innova stock lineup. It has been moved to their Factory Store as an out-of-production mold. So, we grabbed a bunch from the Innova warehouse and had some of our old, humorous “Beware the Foxbat” graphic stamped onto them. Some of the last Foxbats on the market have our fun stamp that looks like your pet dog with wings. Stock up while you can and collect this really fun mid-range disc. You’ll find it a useful tool in your game for years to come.
