Farthest Flying Putters and Top Selling Putters by Brand

What are the top selling putters for each disc golf brand and which one flies the farthest?

This is the question nobody is asking, but a lot of people are curious to find the answer to thanks to lots of extra Covid 19 stay at home time. What is the farthest flying putter?

In this video, professional disc golfer Drew Gibson helps us answer these all important questions. He also likely sets the world putter distance record for about ten different disc brands.

If you’re concerned that you can’t throw a putter 500 feet, don’t be. Drew is one of the most powerful and farthest throwers in the world. Most disc golfers are happy to throw a driver the distance he gets the Stego to go.

Top Selling Disc Golf Putters by Brand

For this video, Drew used our top selling putter, over the last six months, from each disc golf brand. We carry over 40 different disc brands, but several of those brands are mostly irrelevant or no longer producing discs, so we didn’t bother including putters of disc golf brands unless their best selling at least made our top 75 putters list. The big brands like Innova, Discraft, and Dynamic Discs have dozens of different putters that all sell well. By comparison the top selling putter from Viking is not as popular as the 17th best selling putter from Innova.

Note, the Reptilian Stego thrown in this video is not really considered a putter, but as you can tell, in terms of distance it doesn’t go nearly as far as a putter, so Drew thought it would be good to compare that unique utility disc here.

Stamp Wars 2020 Winner

After three rounds of online voting and the final round which was determined by sales numbers, we have a 2020 Stamp Wars winner!

THE FINAL FOUR

This year, the four stamps that made it through the online voting phase were as follows:

THE ACE

by Silas Pearson

Features a flying, flaming ace card breaking through a chain.

THE DISC ELEMENTAL

by Steve Bayes

Features a creature of stone rising from the ground, lifting the basket from the earth.

HYPNOSIS

by Aaron Waggoner

Features the Infinite Discs logo (basically an Infinity symbol) layered into a decorative design.

LADY LUCK

by Justin Lago

Features a lady with her decorative hair that looks like basket chains.

THE 2020 WINNER

After a race that saw the lead change a couple of times, we finally have a winner. While the Disc Elemental stamp took an early lead, and Hypnosis then moved to the front, after the final weekend, THE ACE took the lead for the home stretch. Hypnosis came in a close 2nd place.

THE ACE is the winner this year. Congratulations to designer Silas Pearson and a very enthusiastic support crew who got the word out on social media to give the disc sales a final push.

Thanks again to all of the artists who submitted their cool designs this year. And thanks to the disc golfers that supported those artists by voting and purchasing discs. It was another fun contest this year. Thanks!

The Star Invictus by Innova took the #1 spot this week as a new distance driver release. Then a few familiar discs follow, including the Luna at #2 and the Destroyer at #3. The Signature Swirly S-Blend EMPEROR came in at #4 with the release of the Garrett Gurthie “G-Batross” special edition. We likely would have seen the new Dynamic Discs Sergeant on the chart this week, but we misplaced our shipment during the process of moving inventory between our original and expanded warehouse. Sorry about that! Watch for the new Sergeant and other Trilogy releases coming out this week on the Infinite Discs website.

Here is a look at how many times each brand showed up in this week’s chart:

–> Each week we’ll invite you to leave a prediction for a certain chart position on next week’s TOP TWENTY TUESDAY report. The person to predict that chart position correctly in the comments will win a $10 gift card for the Infinite Discs website.

WINNER – The #6 spot this week was taken by the Sexton Champion Colored Glow FIREBIRD. It looks like Sam is our winner as the first person to guess that disc for the #6 spot.

TOP TWENTY TUESDAY – MARCH 17TH 2020

It is time once again for our look back at the last week of sales. This weekly chart is generated from the sales figures at Infinite Discs – the purchases made by our customers are the only contributing factor to the statistics. We break the results down by disc model and plastic type so you can see which plastic types are selling the most. Here we go…

Top Twenty Tuesday for March 17TH, 2020

#1 – Champion Colored Glow FIREBIRD
#2 – Discraft Special Blend LUNA
#3 – Signature ESP ZEUS
#4 – ESP SURGE
#5 – C-Blend Glow Hye8Dye AZTEC
#6 – Discraft Prototype Putter Blend FIERCE
#7 – Star DESTROYER
#8 –ESP BUZZZ
#9 – ESP ZONE
#10 – Cryztal FLX Sparkle ZONE
#11 – Jawbreaker ZONE
#12 – D-Line P2
#13 – Z-Line BUZZZ
#14 – Champion MAKO3
#15 – ESP HEAT
#16 – Signature Swirly S-Blend EMPEROR
#17 – Opto SAPPHIRE
#18 – Gold Line SAPPHIRE
#19 – Swirly S-Blend X-Out EMPEROR
#20 – ESP UNDERTAKER

The Nate Sexton FIREBIRDS easily took the #1 spot last week as we finally got enough inventory so that everybody who wanted one could get one. Those should remain a popular seller throughout the year. The LUNA and ZEUS are still holding strong. Last week the ESP SURGE took the #4 spot as a special release at Infinite Discs. The extremely unique and impressive C-Blend Glow Hye8Dye AZTEC discs sold very quickly, giving them the #5 spot for the week.

Interestingly, the Discraft ZONE took three different spots in three different plastic types. That helped to boost the number of Discraft spots this week to 11, helping the brand to take over half the spots in the top 20. Here is a look at how many times each brand appeared on this week’s chart:

–> Each week we’ll invite you to leave a prediction for a certain chart position on next week’s TOP TWENTY TUESDAY report. The person to predict that chart position correctly in the comments will win a $10 gift card for the Infinite Discs website.

WINNER – The #5 spot this week was taken by C-Blend Glow Hye8Dye AZTEC. That was something of a surprise, since the disc is a pricey and unique one. But Aaron still managed to guess it right and is this week’s winner!

PLEASE NOTE– all comments (including guesses) don’t show up immediately when you make them, since all comments are approved by admin first. Top 100 Distance Drivers – 2020 Edition

Top 100 Distance Drivers

Comprehensive 2020 Edition

Welcome to another Disc Data blog! Today we’re going to take an in depth look at the Top 100 Distance Drivers. We’ll be using our sales data from the past year to determine which disc golf distance drivers are the most popular. We’ll first take a look at the Top 100 list, then we’ll break it down into smaller, bite-sized pieces.

Note: We can’t show exact sold quantities, but we can show you the sales figures when compared to each other. This still provides a great visual presentation of which discs are the most popular when compared to others.

The Top 100 Distance Drivers

This chart shows the Top 100 Distance Drivers

That is a pretty long list of distance drivers, so let’s break it down by speed. That will allow us to see how similar discs compared to one another in sales.

SPEED 14 DRIVERS

The fastest distance drivers on the market are those which are given a speed-14 rating. That speed rating is based on the width of the rim. The wider the rim, the higher the speed. That basically means that the wider the rim, the faster (more powerful) the player must throw the disc to keep it aloft. Higher speed can equate to more distance, but only if the player has the skill and arm speed to keep it in the air. A speed-14 disc usually has a rim width of 2.5cm, the widest allowed by the PDGA.

The Corvette took the #1 spot for the highest speed discs, mostly because it was the newest distance driver from Innova in the 2019 year. The Ballista Pro came in 2nd as a very good driver from the Latitude 64 line, designed for experienced players.

SPEED 13 DRIVERS

Still on the faster side of the distance driver spectrum, the Speed-13 drivers are very popular. They are slightly more accessible to the general player pool than those with the widest possible rim. But they still require a lot of speed to maximize their distance performance.

The Infinite Discs Pharaoh has been a hot seller for Infinite Discs ever since it was introduced as the fastest distance driver in their disc line (manufactured by Innova). It likely takes the #1 spot because Infinite Discs was the only place to get one during the 2019 season. However, the Pharaoh will become available to other stores as 2020 progresses.  The Shryke and Boss by Innova take the next two spots and then the relatively new Raider by Dynamic Discs took the #4 position.

SPEED 12 DRIVERS

The most popular speed rating in drivers appears to be the Speed-12 class. This rim size is more manageable for many players, including professional players who throw some of the most popular drivers in the market.

The Destroyer by Innova was once again the #1 selling distance driver of 2019 at Infinite Discs. It is thrown by a lot of professional players and amateurs alike. So, it also takes the top spot among speed-12 drivers, though the Zeus by Discraft (in the Paul McBeth line of discs) gave the Destroyer a run for its money when it was introduced in 2019.

SPEED 11 DRIVERS

Discs with a Speed-11 rating have been picking up in popularity among many players. While they may initially pull the trigger on a 12 or 13 because they see experienced players throwing them, those same players often discover that they can actually get more distance with a speed-11. For a lot of players, this is about as fast as they can honestly handle.

The Wraith by Innova is one of those distance drivers that has been increasing in popularity lately, taking off as the new favorite for more of the amateur players. However, you will see some professionals, including some of the best female players in the world, throwing a Wraith.

SPEED 10 DRIVERS

Usually a Speed-9 or Speed-10 driver is considered a good place to start for new players who want to test the distance driver category. It is fast enough, but not overly fast even for newer players. These are the best-sellers with a speed-10 rating at Infinite Discs.

The Beast by Innova took the #1 spot in this speed category. The Orc has something of a cult following, selling particularly well in the collector’s market, due to the incidental swirls and number of “pre-flight number” discs floating around. They are more rare when they are found without the flight numbers included on the stamp. The Avenger SS by Discraft has recently picked up steam as another Paul McBeth signature edition, though it is quite a bit slower and more beginner friendly than most other discs that he is seen throwing in tournaments.

SPEED 9 DRIVERS

The Speed-9 class of discs is actually that fuzzy line between a true “distance driver” and a “fairway driver.” Being slower, they are somewhat easier to control in precision situations and work nicely as entry-level distance drivers for newer players.

There are some speed-9 discs which are on the top-sellers chart because their manufacturer calls them “distance drivers.” However, there are other speed-9 discs that are not on this chart or included in the data because the manufacturer calls them “fairway drivers” or “control drivers.” Hot sellers that don’t appear here because of that designation would be discs like the Innova Firebird, or Innova Valkyrie, or Dynamic Discs Felon, etc.

So, when it comes to speed-9 discs, expect the numbers to be as fuzzy as the designation between being a distance or fairway driver.

QUANTITY SOLD BY SPEED DESIGNATION

Here is one more interesting chart for you. It shows the most popular speed class when the sales are separated into the speed categories. Once again, keep in mind that the Speed-9 class is fuzzy because it excludes the sales of many popular speed-9 discs that are categorized by their manufacturers as control drivers or fairway drivers.

It doesn’t take a trained eye to notice that the Speed-12 category is the most popular. That is the category that includes the top sellers like the Destroyer and the Zeus.

We hope that you have enjoyed looking at this data. Feel free to share your opinions and favorite distance drivers in the comments.

TOP TWENTY TUESDAY – MARCH 10TH 2020

It is time once again for our look back at the last week of sales. This weekly chart is generated from the sales figures at Infinite Discs – the purchases made by our customers are the only contributing factor to the statistics. We break the results down by disc model and plastic type so you can see which plastic types are selling the most. Here we go…

Top Twenty Tuesday for March 10TH, 2020

#1 – S-Line Echo DD3
#2 – Discraft Special Blend LUNA
#3 – Discraft Prototype Putter Blend FIERCE
#4 – Signature ESP ZEUS
#5 – Opto SAPPHIRE
#6 – Star DESTROYER
#7 – D-Line P2
#8 –ESP BUZZZ
#9 – Gold Line SAPPHIRE
#10 – Z-Line BUZZZ
#11 – Concrete SLAB
#12 – Z-Line ZONE
#13 – VIP X Fortress

#16 – P-Line Stiff P2
#17 – Cryztal FLX Sparkle ZONE
#18 – DX AVIAR
#19 – KC Pro KC AVIAR
#20 – Exo Soft LINK

The number one spot was taken in commanding fashion this last week by the S-Line Echo DD3 by Discmania. It sold out during the week. That edition was a special run in what was primarily known as “Echo Star” plastic by Innova, but that has been discontinued in the Innova line for a while now. The LUNA and FIERCE putters from Discraft stayed strong on the chart– we have a hard time keeping enough of those in stock due to their huge popularity.

The new SAPPHIRE easy-throw driver from Latitude 64 made a splash this week in both the Opto and Gold Line plastic releases, taking the #5 and #9 spots. The Nikko Locastro signature edition VIP X Fortress also debuted well with the #13 position, and the Jeremy Koling signature Concrete SLAB also did well at #11.

Here is a look at how many times different brands appeared on the chart, with more variety than we’ve seen the last couple of charts, though Discraft is still grabbing the most spots:

–> Each week we’ll invite you to leave a prediction for a certain chart position on next week’s TOP TWENTY TUESDAY report. The person to predict that chart position correctly in the comments will win a $10 gift card for the Infinite Discs website.

WINNER – The #4 spot this week was taken by the Signature ESP ZEUS. It looks like Matthew guessed that one first as the number four spot, so congratulations!

PLEASE NOTE– all comments (including guesses) don’t show up immediately when you make them, since all comments are approved by admin first. So you may not see the guesses that were made before yours until we approve a bunch of comments the next day. Sorry about that, but that’s the way we can avoid spam or inappropriate comments. TOP TWENTY TUESDAY – MARCH 3RD 2020

It is time once again for our look back at the last week of sales. Top Twenty Tuesday for March 3rd, 2020

#1 – Discraft Prototype Putter Blend FIERCE
#2 – Discraft Special Blend LUNA
#3 – Champion Colored Glow FIREBIRD
#4 – K1 LOTS
#5 – Signature ESP ZEUS
#6 – Star DESTROYER
#7 – D-Line P2
#8 –ESP BUZZZ
#9 – K3 REKO
#10 – K2 BERG
#11 – Z-Line ZONE
#12 – K1 FALK
#13 – K3 BERG
#14 – Signature C-Line Glow PD
#15 – Signature ESP ANAX
#16 – Cryztal FLX Sparkle ZONE
#17 – Star WRAITH
#18 – ESP ZONE
#19 – DX AVIAR
#20 – R-Pro PIG

The Paige Pierce FIERCE continued to hold strong last week, taking the #1 position though it was chased closely by the Paul McBeth LUNA and the initial 2020 release of the Sexton FIREBIRD. Kastaplast was on sale at Infinite Discs last week and that helped to boost a lot of the brand into the Top 20. The K1 LOTS has been strong since its recent release, but we also saw the Reko and Berg putters hit the chart along with the popular understable driver, the FALK.

Only four brands made up the entire chart this week with Discraft holding onto the lead. Here is a look at how many times the different brands entered the chart for the last week:

–> Each week we’ll invite you to leave a prediction for a certain chart position on next week’s TOP TWENTY TUESDAY report. The person to predict that chart position correctly in the comments will win a $10 gift card for the Infinite Discs website.

WINNER – The #12 spot this week was taken by the K1 FALK. We didn’t get a winner this week, though there were some guesses for Kastaplast discs. There was one vote for a Falk, but it was a third guess in the same week, so remember, you can only guess once per week 🙂

PLEASE NOTE– all comments (including guesses) don’t show up immediately when you make them, since all comments are approved by admin first.
