TOP TWENTY TUESDAY – JANUARY 22nd 2019

Infinite Discs is happy to present another Top 20 Tuesday chart, looking back at the discs that sold the most during the last week. We break these charts down by plastics as well so you can see which plastic types are most popular for each disc. New discs will often spike in the chart as other top sellers shuffle position. It can be fun to see which discs keep up the pace.

Here we go…

Top Twenty Tuesday for JANUARY 22nd, 2019

#1 – Star DESTROYER
#2 – Signature Titanium UNDERTAKER
#3 – Signature Elite Z FORCE
#4 – XT BULLFROG
#5 – Star WRAITH
#6 – Champion FIREBIRD
#7 – DX X-Out ROC3
#8 – K3 REKO
#9 – Origio Burst MAIDEN
#10 – C-Line Luster FD
#11 – D-Line P2
#12 – XT Mix NOVA
#13 – Signature Elite Z ZONE
#14 – KC Pro AVIAR
#15 – C-Line PD Freak
#16 – ESP VULTURE
#17 – Star X-Out DESTROYER
#18 – Star LEOPARD3
#19 – Star SHRYKE
#20 – K3 BERG

The Star Destroyer absolutely destroyed the chart, wiping out any other top contenders in this week’s sales. A lot of that has to do with the fact that we got a big restock of Ricky Wysocki Destroyers, while we ran out of Paul McBeth signature discs. More of those are coming from Discraft soon, so the numbers should swing a bit in that regard.

We see a couple of X-Out (factory 2nd) entries into the chart this week as well as we also got a big restock of misprints and factory 2nd discs from Innova. Another restock that made a splash was the much needed restock of Kastaplast discs, boosting both the Reko and Berg putters into the top 20 for this week.

Here is a chart showing the number of times that different brands appeared in this week’s chart:

–> Each week we’ll invite you to leave a prediction for a certain chart position on next week’s TOP TWENTY TUESDAY report. The first three people to predict that chart position correctly in the comments will win a $10 gift card for the Infinite Discs website.

WINNER – The #12 spot was the pick for this week’s chart and we saw four people get it right with the XT Mix Nova as their guess. We’ll go ahead and give those four people the gift card for this week. But get your guess in early because we’re going to make sure we only pick three if there are a lot of same guesses coming in the future. Congratulations Steven, Dawson, Drew, and Matthew!

Top Selling Discs–Q4 of 2018

Happy New Year! We are so excited here at Infinite Discs to see what 2019 will hold with lots of changes happening in the disc golf world. How will these changes impact the sales charts? Only time will tell! Today we will review the top selling discs of the final quarter of 2018. This report is usually influenced by the holiday sales deals and is a good review of the discs we wanted to stock up on in the offseason. So let’s get to the sales reports!

Top 10 Overall

  1. Innova Destroyer
  2. Discmania P2 Psycho
  3. Discraft Buzzz
  4. Infinite Discs Pharaoh
  5. Axiom Envy
  6. Innova Aviar
  7. Innova Wraith
  8. Discmania FD Jackal
  9. Innova Firebird
  10. Westside Maiden

Like I said, the holiday sales influence the numbers for this quarter, and we can see that influence reaching all the way into the top 10 overall with discs like the Infinite Discs Pharaoh, Axiom Envy, and newly released Westside Maiden. The Discraft Buzzz bumped up to number 3. This may be just because the Buzzz is always popular around Halloween with the traditional Halloween Buzzz, but it is also noteworthy considering the Paul McBeth announcement that came out near the end of the quarter. It will be very interesting to see how that influences the numbers next quarter. If you aren’t sure Paul McBeth influences the sales, it is worth noting that the top 3 discs on this chart have now at one point in time had his signature on it.

Top Distance Drivers

  1. Innova Destroyer
  2. Infinite Discs Pharaoh
  3. Innova Firebird
  4. Innova Wraith
  5. Innova Shryke
  6. Innova Valkyrie
  7. Innova Boss
  8. Discmania PD Freak
  9. Innova Beast
  10. MVP Tesla

All of the discs here have been on this chart before. The Infinite Discs Pharaoh made a pretty big jump up the chart going from number 6 last quarter up to number 2. The Discmania PD Freak and MVP Tesla returned to the top 10 after not making it last quarter. Again, it will be interesting to see how the Destroyer performs over the next year with Ricky Wysocki now featured as the signature on the stock Star Destroyer.

Top Control/Fairway Drivers

  1. Discmania FD Jackal
  2. Innova Thunderbird
  3. Innova Teebird
  4. Innova Leopard3
  5. Innova Leopard
  6. Innova Roadrunner
  7. MVP Volt
  8. Infinite Discs Sphinx
  9. Discraft Undertaker
  10. Dynamic Discs Escape

I think one of the biggest surprises of this entire article is the Discraft Undertaker jumping in at the number 9 spot. This disc has not been on the top sales list since it was first released. We can already see the Paul McBeth move influencing these sales numbers, and with his new signature series Undertaker releasing in January, the Undertaker may be a new staple on this chart.

Top Midrange Discs

  1. Discraft Buzzz
  2. Innova Roc3
  3. Innova Mako3
  4. Innova Roc
  5. Dynamic Discs EMac Truth
  6. Discraft Comet
  7. MVP Deflector
  8. Discmania MD4
  9. Discmania MD3
  10. Infinite Discs Chariot

Like the distance drivers, all of these discs have been featured in the top 10 before. The Discmania MD4 hasn’t been on the top 10 at all in 2018, so this one breaking in was a bit of a surprise. The Discraft Comet jumped up to number 6 which is the highest it has been in recent memory. Not to sound like a broken record, but it really looks like that Paul McBeth and Discraft deal was already paying dividends to Discraft before it officially began.

Top Putt and Approach Discs

  1. Discmania P2 Psycho
  2. Axiom Envy
  3. Innova Aviar
  4. Westside Maiden
  5. Dynamic Discs Judge
  6. Dynamic Discs Warden
  7. Gateway Wizard
  8. Innova Nova
  9. Discraft Zone
  10. Westside Harp

The Westside Maiden premiering at the number 4 spot is pretty impressive considering how crowed the Putt and Approach category is. This could be because of the unique holiday editions we ran in BT Hard Burst Moonshine plastic. I could comment on how the Discraft Zone breaking back into the top 10 might have something to do with Paul McBeth…but I will spare you all :).

And that does it for 2018! What will 2019 have in store for us? It’s going to be another fun year of disc golf, and we at Infinite Discs are excited to be on the ride with you all.

TOP TWENTY TUESDAY – JANUARY 15TH 2019

Infinite Discs is happy to present another Top 20 Tuesday chart, looking back at the discs that sold the most during the last week. We break these charts down by plastics as well so you can see which plastic types are most popular for each disc. New discs will often spike in the chart as other top sellers shuffle spots. It can be fun to see which discs keep up the pace.

Here we go…

Top Twenty Tuesday for JANUARY 15th, 2019

#1 – Star DESTROYER
#2 – Paul McBeth PROTOTYPE PUTTER
#3 – Signature ESP BUZZZ
#4 – Signature Elite Z ZONE
#5 – Signature Titanium UNDERTAKER
#6 – Signature Elite Z FORCE
#7 – D-Line P2
#8 – Star ORC
#9 – P-Line P2
#10 – Swirly ESP BUZZZ

#13 – Origio Burst MAIDEN
#14 – Star LEOPARD3
#15 – Star WRAITH
#16 – Star TEEBIRD
#17 – Metal Flake Glow C-Blend PHARAOH
#18 – C-Line Luster FD
#19 – Super Stupid Soft WIZARD
#20 – Lucid FELON

It is easy to see what ruled the charts this week. The Star Destroyer held onto the #1 spot with the release of the Ricky Wysocki Signature edition, which also helped to renew sales of the McBeth signature edition (folks now see an end coming to that supply). Paul McBeth successfully boosted Discraft to the next five spots on the chart, with sports 2-6 going strongly to his new signature edition discs. His prototype putter took the #2 spot as it is a limited run, and we now know that it will be called the LUNA upon stock release.

Other popular discs stayed on the chart, like the P2 in a couple of different plastic types as well as a healthy does of Innova drivers in Star plastic (Leopard3, Wraith, TeeBird, and Orc). Jumping into the top 20 this week we find the Wizard in Super Stupid Soft plastic and the overstable fairway driver, the Felon in Lucid plastic.

Here is a chart of how many times each brand appeared in the Top 20.

–> Each week we’ll invite you to leave a prediction for a certain chart position on next week’s TOP TWENTY TUESDAY report. The first three people to predict that chart position correctly in the comments will win a $15 gift card for the Infinite Discs website.

WINNER – Three people won this week by guessing that the D-Line P2 would drop to the #7 spot. Congratulations to Robert, Clint, and Jason!

TOP TWENTY TUESDAY – JANUARY 8TH 2019

Well, we took longer to get back to the Top Twenty Tuesday chart than expected, thanks to the crazy holiday season. But here we go with a chart that represents everything since December 18th.

New discs will often spike in the chart as other top sellers shuffle spots. It can be fun to see which discs keep up the pace. These will also be broken down by plastic types, so the same model can show up in multiple plastics.

Here we go…

Top Twenty Tuesday for JANUARY 8th, 2019

#1 – Star DESTROYER
#2 – D-Line P2
#3 – XT BULLFROG
#4 – P-Line P2
#5 – C-Line Luster FD
#6 – Sirius SCORPIUS
#7 – Swirly ESP BUZZZ
#8 – Champion MAKO3
#9 – XT Mix NOVA
#10 – S-Line MD3
#11 – Signature C-Line P2
#12 – Star WRAITH
#13 – Eclipse DEFLECTOR
#14 – Swirly S-Line PD2
#15 – Tour Series Pro AVIAR
#16 – Star LEOPARD3
#17 – DX AVIAR CLASSIC
#18 – C-Line MD5
#19 – Full Foil Super Color BUZZZ
#20 – BT Hard Burst Moonshine MAIDEN

The P2 and Destroyer have kept a strong presence at the top of the chart through the holidays, and the new Bullfrog flat-topped putter from Innova moved to the number 3 spot. The Scorpius by Millennium discs is holding strong at number 6, thanks to Gregg Barsby’s hot signature edition.  We can see a lot of discs hanging around that have been regulars in the chart, plus a few of the special editions still getting some love.

In case you are interested, here is a little chart that compares how many time each brand appeared on this week’s chart.

We expect to see some Discraft discs spiking the charts in the coming weeks as Paul McBeth signature discs are introduced to the market. With the holidays over, keep an eye on this blog for regular weekly charts.

–> Each week we’ll invite you to leave a prediction for a certain chart position on next week’s TOP TWENTY TUESDAY report. The first three people to predict that chart position correctly in the comments will win a $15 gift card for the Infinite Discs website.

WINNER – There were actually five people who guess the #3 position for this return chart. Since it has been three weeks, we’ll go ahead and award all five with a gift card. Congratulations Steven, Matthew, Ryan, Kyle, and Matthew! The Bullfrog was the winning guess.

TOP TWENTY TUESDAY – DECEMBER 11TH 2018

Infinite Discs is happy to present the weekly blog post called TOP TWENTY TUESDAY where we let you know about the short-term sales trends for discs. We’ll show the sales figures from the previous Tuesday through the most recent Monday. New discs will often spike in the chart as other top sellers shuffle spots. It can be fun to see which discs keep up the pace. These will also be broken down by plastic types, so the same model can show up in multiple plastics.

Here we go…

Top Twenty Tuesday for DECEMBER 11th, 2018

#1 – P-Line Soft P2
#2 – Star DESTROYER
#3 – D-Line P2
#4 – Origio Burst MAIDEN
#5 – Star TEEBIRD3
#6 – BT Hard Burst Moonshine MAIDEN
#7 – P-Line P2
#8 – Metal Flake Glow C-Blend PHARAOH
#9 – Full Foil Super Color BUZZZ
#10 – Fission TESLA
#11 – ESP UNDERTAKER
#12 – Titanium UNDERTAKER
#13 – Elite Z BUZZZ
#14 – Neutron DEFLECTOR
#15 – C-Line Luster FD
#16 – DX AVIAR
#17 – Elite Z ZONE
#18 – XT Mix NOVA
#19 – Star TEEBIRD
#20 – Sirius SCORPIUS

The far flying Star Destroyer dropped to 2nd place for the first time in a while with the P-Line Soft P2 taking its place at #1.  The P2 holds three spots in this week’s chart, and that seems pretty typical as the P2 putter by Discmania has been the hottest selling putter all year at Infinite Discs. The Maiden by Westside is holding strong with the #4 and #6 spots this week– an exceptionally straight-flying, flat-topped, low profile putter.  The Metal Flake Glow C-Blend Pharaoh is still selling strong since its release before Thanksgiving.  One of the biggest movers in the charts this last week has been DISCRAFT in general, with the BUZZZ taking two spots (Full Foil Super Color sparked again with the Star Wars releases) and the Undertaker driver taking two spots, and the Zone taking a spot. That is 5 spots for Discraft week!  Also, the Sirius Scorpius by Millennium entered the chart on word that a Gregg Barsby signature edition is coming.

–> Each week we’ll invite you to leave a prediction for a certain chart position on next week’s TOP TWENTY TUESDAY report. The first three people to predict that chart position correctly in the comments will win a $15 gift card for the Infinite Discs website.

WINNER? – The guessing contest for this week’s chart was for the #5 position, and it looks like we didn’t get a winner. There were some excellent guesses for discs that ended up all over the chart, but the closest to the #5 Teebird3 was somebody guessing the Star Teebird (very close, but not quite).

TOP TWENTY TUESDAY – DECEMBER 4TH 2018

Infinite Discs is happy to present the weekly blog post called TOP TWENTY TUESDAY where we let you know about the short-term sales trends for discs. We’ll show the sales figures from the previous Tuesday through the most recent Monday.

New discs will often spike in the chart as other top sellers shuffle spots. It can be fun to see which discs keep up the pace. These will also be broken down by plastic types, so the same model can show up in multiple plastics.

THIS REPORT INCLUDES THE SALES FROM BLACK FRIDAY SALES – TWO WEEKS OF DISC SALES.  Here we go…
The chart covering the last two weeks of sales at Infinite Discs is HIGHLY influenced by Black Friday deals that carried through an entire week of sales and special disc releases. The Star Destroyer held the number one spot with several special edition stamps on black Destroyers released on Black Friday. The 2nd place spot goes to the Metal Flake Glow C-Blend Pharaoh which really got a lot of love with the cool combination of colored glow and metal flake in the plastic blend, plus the XXL stamp designed by Thought Space Athletics. In a strong 3rd place showing was the limited run of BT Hard Burst Moonshine (glow) MAIDEN putters– a run that was made especially for Infinite Discs. The original Origio Burst Maiden also had a great showing at #7, showing that this latest putter from Westside disc has been a big attention-grabber since it was featured in the 2018 Trilogy Challenge tournaments.

Also with big showings due to special editions, the C-Line Luster FD and Glow C-Line P2 discs from Discmania were a big hit, as were the special run of Swirly ESP Flash discs– an older Discraft mold that many players have been missing since it was discontinued. The Stego by Reptilian Disc Gold and the full-color Twin Swords by Yikun made strong showings for smaller brands. Infinite Discs also saw the new release of the C-Blend RA with the XXL stamp his #8 and the Vision C-Blend (full color) SLAB hit the number #11 spot with its dramatic stamp image which was placed to leave a grip edge around the outside top of the flight plate.

–> Each week we’ll invite you to leave a prediction for a certain chart position on next week’s TOP TWENTY TUESDAY report. The first three people to predict that chart position correctly in the comments will win a $15 gift card for the Infinite Discs website.

WINNER! – We didn’t get a lot of guesses for this week’s #2 position, but we do have a winner. Garrett Colwell declared “Metal flake pharaoh all the way up!” and that is close enough to “Metal Flake Glow C-Blend Pharaoh” that we’re handing him the win. Congratulations Garrett!

TOP TWENTY TUESDAY – NOVEMBER 20TH 2018

Infinite Discs is happy to present the weekly blog post called TOP TWENTY TUESDAY where we let you know about the short-term sales trends for discs. We’ll show the sales figures from the previous Tuesday through the most recent Monday.
New discs will often spike in the chart as other top sellers shuffle spots. It can be fun to see which discs keep up the pace. These will also be broken down by plastic types, so the same model can show up in multiple plastics.
HERE WE GO…

Top Twenty Tuesday for NOVEMBER 20th, 2018

#7 – D-Line P2
#13 – Star TEEBIRD
#14 – Star AVIARX3
#20 – DX BIRDIE
This week had a lot of shaking up, which is likely due to slower sales in general as disc buyers decompress and wait for the big Black Friday sales to hit. The Star Destroyer kept a strong lead, but with the newly released I-Blend Pharaoh chasing for a strong 2nd position. Then, out of the nowhere, the Classic Blend Burst Warden jumped to number three. The Warden is consistently a good seller, but we haven’t seen it in the charts yet, so the jump to number three was impressive. The Proton Atom got a bump in sales due to the limited edition release that came out last week. The Pharaoh Pharaoh Signature edition was strong as it was also on sale (Garrett Gurthie edition). Another interesting seller was the X Soft Glo Roach, which may have got a little bump from rumors that a Roach was found on a course with Paul McBeth’s signature on it. Also, what is the DX Birdie doing at number twenty?
–> Each week we’ll invite you to leave a prediction for a certain chart position on next week’s TOP TWENTY TUESDAY report. The first three people to predict that chart position correctly in the comments will win a $15 gift card for the Infinite Discs website.
We had no winners again this week, since the Warden jumped from nowhere into the #3 spot. We thought the number three spot would be an easier guess, but alas, we were also surprised.
GIFT CARD PREDICTION FOR NEXT WEEK:  There will be NO CHART for next Tuesday, since sales will be influenced greatly by Black Friday week-long deals. We’ll rejoin Top 20 Tuesday the next week after that. The guess for two weeks from now is for the #2 spot, and it will cover a two-week period from now through December 3rd. So, places your guesses for that #2 spot in two weeks.

Best Mid-Range Discs – Sales Comparison

We’re big fans of data here at Infinite Discs. We enjoy looking at sales trends and comparing what is moving in the disc golf market. One of the best ways to evaluate which discs are most loved by players is to look at which discs sell the most, because honestly, people purchase discs that they use and love. Sometimes the sales figures get a bump from special editions or new releases. But as the sales figures are measured over the long-term, we can see which discs enjoy momentary spikes, and which ones are always near the top.

Keep in mind that these sales figures are from Infinite Discs, and as one of the largest online disc retailers, we feel that they reflect the tastes of the most avid disc golfers. But they do not represent the entire market. If a brand has their own retail store, it is likely that they draw some of those avid fans directly to their own store and that would have some effect on our totals. We also don’t know about sales trends at big box stores which cater to casual or new players.

Consistently On the Charts

Discraft BUZZZ

Innova ROC3

Innova MAKO3

Innova ROC

Dynamic Discs EMAC TRUTH

Discmania MD3

The Buzzz is always riding at or near the top position when it comes to sales, with the Roc3 and Mako3 coming close behind. Other consistently charting mid-range discs are the Roc, the Emac Truth, and the MD3.  There are other popular mid-range discs that sell more in waves, depending on special editions, pro support stamps, etc.

Breaking Down the Sales in 6-Month Increments

We’re going to take a look at four charts, each representing a different period. We’ll start with the most recent and go backward to see which mid-range discs have had momentary spikes, and which ones have held strong for the long term.

This more recent data (red chart) shows that the Discraft Buzzz has a strong lead as the number one, best-selling mid-range disc.  The Roc3 and Mako3 by Innova are also consistent contenders.  The MVP Deflector has a strong showing on this chart because it was a new release during this 6-month sales period, and it really was the overstable mid-range that MVP fans had been waiting for. The Anubis by Infinite Discs was also a new release during this period, so it made a strong showing in the 10th position.

Going back six months to late 2017 and early 2018 (blue chart), we can see the that top three were strong in that period as well. The Buzzz, Roc3, and Mako3 sold well, with the HyzerBomb Mortar coming in a strong 4th as it had a much anticipated restock run and fans were able to get their hands on it again. The Emac Truth holds a steady position in the middle of the pack as it did in the more recent chart. The Innova Rat came out as a new release and jumped in at the #9 spot.

Now let’s go back a full year to summer and fall of 2017 (green chart) and we can see that the Roc3 had outsold the Buzzz during that period. Again, the Emac Truth was holding strongly in the middle of the pack.  The Discraft Comet made a good showing. The Innova Stingray had a good showing, primarily as a popular pro signature disc that year, and the Innova RocX3 was a new disc that made a good splash.

Let’s go all the way back to late 2016 and early 2017 (orange chart). The Buzzz was still the top-seller. We can tell by the longer term track record that the Buzzz, Roc3, Mako3, and Roc have always been handing on to the top spots. The MD3 and MD4 by Discmania have popped in a couple of times. The Emac Truth has been hanging out in the middle the entire time. It is also interesting to see that two years ago, the Verdict, Justice, and Truth by Dynamic Discs joined the Emac Truth to take four spots out of the top 10, with Latitude 64 making a showing with the Compass.
