TOP TWENTY TUESDAY – FEBRUARY 19TH

Infinite Discs is happy to present another Top 20 Tuesday chart, looking back at the discs that sold the most during the last week. We break these charts down by plastics as well so you can see which plastic types are most popular for each disc. New discs will often spike in the chart as other top sellers shuffle position. It can be fun to see which discs keep up the pace.

Here we go…

Top Twenty Tuesday for February 19th, 2019

#1 – Paul McBeth Prototype Putter
#2 – Signature ESP BUZZZ
#3 – ESP FORCE
#4 – D-Line P2
#5 – Star DESTROYER
#6 – Signature Elite Z ZONE
#7 – Opto RECOIL
#8 – Champion FIRESTORM
#9 – Star ROADRUNNER
#10 – S-Line DDX
#11 – S-Line FD
#12 – Star WRAITH
#13 – Champion Color Glow WRAITH
#14 – Star SONIC
#15 – C-Line PD2
#16 – Opto PIONEER
#17 – Metal Flake Glow C-Blend PHARAOH
#18 – DX AVIAR
#19 – Champion Color Glow LEOPARD3
#20 – P-Line P2

Once again, the Paul McBeth Prototype putter, which we know will be called the LUNA, took the number one spot on the chart, and a couple other Paul McBeth signature discs from Discraft also hit the chart. We see his signature Buzzz at #2 and his signature Zone at #6, plus the ESP Force continues to sell very well. One of the most noticeable things on this chart is that the Star Destroyer is probably the lowest it has been in months at #5. That could have something to do with our diminishing supply at Infinite Discs (we’ll be getting more added to inventory soon).

Two new discs from Latitude 64 came out last week– the Opto RECOIL debuted at #7 while the Opto PIONEER debuted at #16.  Several other signature discs from Innova hit the store last week, including the Star Sonic, Color Glow Wraith, and more.  A special edition of the Champion Firestorm also pushed that lesser-known driver up to the #8 spot.

–> Each week we’ll invite you to leave a prediction for a certain chart position on next week’s TOP TWENTY TUESDAY report. The first three people to predict that chart position correctly in the comments will win a $10 gift card for the Infinite Discs website.

WINNER – Nobody guessed the that the Champion Firestorm would be #8 this week. That would have been a real shot in the dark! That special edition gave a disc that rarely gets close to the chart to the #8 spot. But but sure to guess for next week for a chance at a $10 gift card!

The first thing you may notice on this week’s chart is that multiple Alphas by Mint Discs broke the top 20. Mint Discs released their latest runs of the disc and helped create the spike in popularity. Paul McBeth’s Prototype Putter skyrocketed to #1 and the popularity of his other new signature Discraft discs continue to highlight the top 20. Innova’s Star Destroyer climbed back up to #2, continuing its hold as one of the more popular discs on the market.

Axiom and Mint Discs were common new comers to the Top 20. Axiom peaked at #9 with their Electron-soft ENVY. Mint Discs new Sublime ALPHA soared to #3 and had two more discs in the Top 20. Innova had the most Top 20 discs with 8 discs being in the top 20..

TOP TWENTY TUESDAY – JANUARY 29TH 2019

Infinite Discs is happy to present another Top 20 Tuesday chart, looking back at the discs that sold the most during the last week. We break these charts down by plastics as well so you can see which plastic types are most popular for each disc. New discs will often spike in the chart as other top sellers shuffle position. It can be fun to see which discs keep up the pace.

Here we go…

Top Twenty Tuesday for JANUARY 29th, 2019

#1 – Signature ESP BUZZZ
#2 – ESP FORCE
#3 – Star DESTROYER
#4 – Signature Elite Z ZONE
#5 – Signature Titanium UNDERTAKER
#6 – D-Line P2
#7 – Metal Flake Glow C-Blend PHARAOH
#8 – I-Blend PHARAOH
#9 – XT BULLFROG
#10 – S-Blend TOMB
#11 – P-Line Soft P2
#12 – D-Blend TOMB
#13 – Neutron ION
#14 – KC Pro X-Out Aviar
#15 – Star WRAITH
#16 – I-Blend SPHINX
#17 – Signature Elite Z FORCE
#18 – Classic Burst WARDEN
#19 – S-Blend EXODUS
#20 – Champion FIREBIRD

The first thing you may notice on this week’s chart is that the Star Destroyer finally fell from the top spot. Yes, that happens from time to time, but it was crushed this week by the Signature Paul McBeth ESP Buzzz which, once restocked, sold like crazy. Other McBeth signature discs remain on the chart as well, including his signature editions of the Zone, Undertaker, and Force. Speaking of the Force, Infinite Discs put out a custom stamped edition on beautiful ESP plastic and it made a strong jump to the #2 spot. That left the Destroyer at #3.

Infinite Discs brand raided the chart this week due to a sale that ran for a few days last week. The Pharaoh took two spots in two different plastics as well as the Tomb flat-topped putt-and-approach disc taking two spots. In fact, Infinite Discs brand led the way in number of times appearing in the top 20 with Discraft and Innova tying with 5 spots each.

–> Each week we’ll invite you to leave a prediction for a certain chart position on next week’s TOP TWENTY TUESDAY report. The first three people to predict that chart position correctly in the comments will win a $10 gift card for the Infinite Discs website.

WINNER – The #20 spot is a hard one to pick, and it looks like nobody got it this time. Nobody guessed Champion Firebird as the #20 spot. I saw that somebody guess Neutron ION which is a valiant guess considering it had a special edition come out this last weekend, but that release pushed it beyond the #20 spot. Hopefully we get a winner next week!

TOP TWENTY TUESDAY – NOVEMBER 20TH 2018

Infinite Discs is happy to present the weekly blog post called TOP TWENTY TUESDAY where we let you know about the short-term sales trends for discs. We’ll show the sales figures from the previous Tuesday through the most recent Monday.
New discs will often spike in the chart as other top sellers shuffle spots. It can be fun to see which discs keep up the pace. These will also be broken down by plastic types, so the same model can show up in multiple plastics.
HERE WE GO…

Top Twenty Tuesday for NOVEMBER 20th, 2018

#7 – D-Line P2
#13 – Star TEEBIRD
#14 – Star AVIARX3
#20 – DX BIRDIE
This week had a lot of shaking up, which is likely due to slower sales in general as disc buyers decompress and wait for the big Black Friday sales to hit. The Star Destroyer kept a strong lead, but with the newly released I-Blend Pharaoh chasing for a strong 2nd position. Then, out of the nowhere, the Classic Blend Burst Warden jumped to number three. The Warden is consistently a good seller, but we haven’t seen it in the charts yet, so the jump to number three was impressive. The Proton Atom got a bump in sales due to the limited edition release that came out last week. The Pharaoh Pharaoh Signature edition was strong as it was also on sale (Garrett Gurthie edition). Another interesting seller was the X Soft Glo Roach, which may have got a little bump from rumors that a Roach was found on a course with Paul McBeth’s signature on it. Also, what is the DX Birdie doing at number twenty?
–> Each week we’ll invite you to leave a prediction for a certain chart position on next week’s TOP TWENTY TUESDAY report. The first three people to predict that chart position correctly in the comments will win a $15 gift card for the Infinite Discs website.
We had no winners again this week, since the Warden jumped from nowhere into the #3 spot. We thought the number three spot would be an easier guess, but alas, we were also surprised.
GIFT CARD PREDICTION FOR NEXT WEEK:  There will be NO CHART for next Tuesday, since sales will be influenced greatly by Black Friday week-long deals. We’ll rejoin Top 20 Tuesday the next week after that. The guess for two weeks from now is for the #2 spot, and it will cover a two-week period from now through December 3rd. So, places your guesses for that #2 spot in two weeks.

Best Disc Golf Fairway Drivers of 2018

Disc Golf Tunnel Shot

Note, this article was written in 2018. If you’re interested in more details of the best fairway drivers this year, check out this article as well:

Last week we kicked off our new series of posts naming the best disc golf discs on the market. We chose our pick for the best distance driver, and today we will take a look at the fairway drivers. Like the distance drivers, there are lots of new fairway drivers for players to choose from. Do you just want someone to tell you which one is the best? Well, let’s try to answer that question today.

Before I list our nominees for The Infinite Discs Best Disc Golf Disc: Fairway Driver, let me break down what we are looking for in a fairway driver today. Like the distance drivers, our keywords for choosing nominees will be popularity and utility. We will select popular fairway drivers that can be utilized by disc golfers of all skill levels. This especially gets interesting for control/fairway drivers, because we see a larger spectrum of stability and uses for different types of control drivers. Just a reminder from our last post as well, we will avoid nominating similar discs from the same brand (think TeeBird and TeeBird3).

So first, lets look at which fairway drivers have been the best sellers in 2018 so far.

Top sellers of 2018:

  1. Innova Firebird
  2. Innova Teebird
  3. Innova Thunderbird
  4. Discmania FD
  5. Innova Valkyrie
  6. Innova Leopard3
  7. Innova Leopard
  8. Infinite Discs Exodus
  9. Innova Teebird3
  10. Innova Roadrunner

Innova has traditionally dominated the best sellers in the distance driver category, but in 2018 they have really made gains in the fairway drivers as well. But what is interesting to know is of the next 10 best sellers, only 2 of them are Innova discs. Nearly all brands have released a competitive selling fairway driver.

But like I said, it takes more than popularity to receive a nomination and be named the best! So here are the nominees:

Latitude 64 Diamond

The Latitude 64 Diamond is considered by many to be the beginner driver.

This fairway driver is very understable and only comes in lighter weights. That combination makes it perfect for younger players or newer players who are still working on their form. Even more experienced players who like to throw at slower speeds have been able to put the Diamond to work for their game.

Dynamic Discs Escape

The Escape was the first Fairway Driver made by Dynamic Discs, and it has been a staple of the lineup ever since.

The Escape offers a pretty straight and neutral flight that can be used at all skill levels. The Escape gets a little more distance than some of the other fairway drivers nominated, and it is offered in a variety of DD’s plastic blends.

Discmania FD

The Discmania FD has been around for seven years now, but it has really just grown in popularity over the last 2 or 3 years.

Many players consider this the slightly understable cousin of the Innova TeeBird. The FD is straight to understable with a glide rating of 6 that is no joke. The FD is a sneaky far disc with a flight pattern that can accommodate all skill levels.

Dynamic Discs Felon

The Dynamic Discs Felon falls in the more overstable side of the fairway driver category.

With a flatter profile and overstable flight, many would consider this disc a primarily forehand or flick disc, but more seasoned players can manage this disc throwing backhand as well. What sets the Felon apart is it isn’t a true “meathook.” This disc, when given the right power, will hold straight before delivering a reliable overstable fade at the end of the flight.

Innova Firebird

The Innova Firebird‘s popularity has skyrocketed in recent years due to the Nate Sexton Glow Firebirds.

But even before then, the Firebird was known as a reliable overstable fairway driver perfect for getting around a corner or when you needed a disc to hold up in the wind without turning over. The Firebird along with the Felon are probably the least beginner friendly of our nominees.

Innova Leopard/Leopard3

We decided to list the Innova Leopard and Leopard3 together. If we were putting this list together last year, we probably would have just nominated the Leopard. But over the last year the Leopard3 has jumped way up on the sales charts and is becoming more and more mainstream. They are similar discs, with the Leopard3 offering a little more speed and stability. The Leopard is a very popular beginner’s disc, especially in DX plastic where it is inexpensive and offered in lighter weights. But both the Leopard and the Leopard3 have a flight that all throwers can find a use for.

Latitude 64 River

The Latitude 64 River has moved down the sales charts a bit over the last year, but it still is a very popular disc that has a unique mold and flight.

The River is slightly bigger than most drivers, but it has a smaller rim and a slight dome. I personally don’t know the science of it, but the River has great glide that allows the disc to stay in the air for what seems like forever. This disc is a long, straight flyer that can accommodate all arm speeds.

Innova Roadrunner

The Innova Roadrunner has been around for over 13 years, but it is experiencing a bit of a resurgence.

It has always been a very popular understable disc that is great for beginners. But recently the Roadrunner is growing in popularity as a distance roller disc for more experienced players. That being said, bigger arms will still enjoy this disc for long understable air shots.

Innova TeeBird

The Innova TeeBird will turn 20 years old in 2019, and throughout that time it has been an extremely popular disc for players of all skill levels.

It is in that sweet spot in stability where it isn’t too overstable for newer players, but it is overstable enough to handle big power from the pros. The TeeBird has a reliable flight and is available in a large variety of plastic blends and weights.

Innova Thunderbird

The Innova Thunderbird is often described as being a faster TeeBird, offering a little more distance. And if you just go by the manufacturers flight ratings, that is exactly right.

The higher speed makes this disc a little less beginner friendly, but is still very popular among all disc golfers. If you have found a shot that the TeeBird just comes up a bit short on, try a Thunderbird and you should be pretty close!

MVP Volt

MVP and their Gyro technology disrupted the disc golf world when they first hit the scene.

At first they just offered putters and midranges, but at the end of 2012 they brought the overmold to the drivers with their release of the Volt. The Volt has continued to be one of MVP‘s best selling discs ever since. It is a straight to slightly overstable fairway driver that delivers a consistent flight pattern.

We have quite a few more nominees for our fairway drivers than we had distance drivers, but like I mentioned, the fairway driver category covers more types of flights, so we felt that there were more discs that deserved nominations in this category.

Best Fairway Driver of 2018

All of these fairway drivers are very popular and can enhance the game of disc golfers of all skill levels. But today we have made our decision for the BEST fairway driver on the market. And the winner is…

THE INFINITE DISCS BEST DISC GOLF DISC: FAIRWAY DRIVER

INNOVA TEEBIRD

It is hard to make a case against the Innova TeeBird. The TeeBird has been the standard of the fairway driver category for years, and it offers a flight that can compliment the game of all skill levels of disc golfers. The TeeBird is available in a large variety of plastic blends and weights, so if you haven’t, check out the TeeBird today.

#5 – P-Line P2
#6 – D-Line P2
#8 – DX AVIAR
#15 – Star SHRYKE
#16 – Star SAVANT
#18 – Star EAGLE
The Eclipse ENVY by Axiom jumped to the top of the chart this last week, and not just by a little. That was a hot new release with a limited edition that fueled the buying frenzy. The Tournament HARP also jumped to the top with a Halloween edition that really got some positive attention. The Deputy and Judge also came into the top twenty with strong moves with the boost of some Halloween stamps. The new Savant by Innova hit the chart with the Luster plastic, which features the “protostar” stamp, and the Star edition which is the first stock stamped edition. The P2 held onto four different spots in the top twenty, which is some serious staying power.

The winners from last week’s guessing are Alex Knighton, Dustin Tessneer, and Kyle McLaughlin, who predicted that the DX Aviar would land in the 8th position. Congratulations!

#5 – P-Line P2
#6 – DX AVIAR
#10 – D-Line P2
#12 – Star SHRYKE
#16 – Star MAKO3
#18 – Lucid PATROL
#20 – Star TEEBIRD
There are a couple of interesting things on this week’s chart when compared to last weeks chart (CLICK HERE for last week’s chart). Discmania had two new releases which shot straight to the top with the Swirly S-Line DD and the Glow D-Line P2 (Halloween Edition). New releases will usually shake up the weekly chart, since they get a boost in sales just by virtue of being new. Thus, the Star Destroyer and regular P-Line P2 dropped to those new releases. Also, we got two of the Trilogy Challenge discs in stock this last week, and the Origio Burst Maiden putter sold out almost the same day it was added to our website. The Lucid Patrol is also selling well as one of those Trilogy Challenge discs and made it onto the chart. Full Foil Super Color Buzzz discs are continuing to get spikes in sales from time to time as people collect the different stamp designs.

The winners from last week’s guessing are Steven Bidigare and Joe N, who both predicted that the D-Line P2 would slide to the 10th position. Congratulations!
