With Isaac Robinson recently winning the PDGA Disc Golf World Championships, I was curious to see if we would see an impact on Prodigy Disc sales. I ran the numbers to see if there was any kind of noticeable difference for Prodigy sales during, and immediately following the PDGA World Championships.
Analyzing sales data from August and September reveals a noteworthy trend. During and immediately following Robinson’s World Championship win, there is a noticeable increase in the sales percentage of Prodigy Discs. This percentage more than doubled in comparison to the days preceding the World championships. For the week of August 17th – August 24th Prodigy sales accounted for just 2.04% of all InfiniteDiscs.com disc sales.
On September 3rd, Prodigy Discs accounted for 4.87% of total InfiniteDiscs.com disc sales, marking a substantial uptick from the earlier weeks. This surge continued into the week following the World Championships, with Prodigy Discs maintaining an average sales percentage of approximately 5.89% from September 8th to September 14th.
However, it’s essential to put this increase in context. The Prodigy Disc sales surge cannot be solely contributed to the World Championship win. There was a surge in Prodigy sales during the World Championships, before the outcome and winner was determined.
Prodigy has consistently emphasized its marketing efforts through professional players. It’s reasonable to assume that a significant portion of Prodigy’s fan base also enjoys following professional disc golf competitions, and simply tuning in to watch the World Championships may have ignited a desire among customers to acquire their favorite discs. Moreover, the stellar performances of other Prodigy-sponsored pros, Alden Harris and Gannon Buhr, both securing top-10 finishes, undoubtedly added to the overall excitement surrounding Prodigy throughout the week. These Prodigy Pros signature disc sales will likely rise as well.
As of the most recent week of available data, covering September 20th through September 26th, Prodigy Discs continued to maintain a strong presence in the market. The average sales percentage for Prodigy Discs during this period was approximately 3.87%. While it represents a slight dip from the peak immediately following the World Championships, it still indicates sustained interest in their products.
To commemorate the win, Prodigy also released commemorative edition Isaac Robinson discs which are just now being uploaded to our website. These special edition discs should also help to increase Prodigy Sales in the short term.
It’s clear that having a player win the World Championship is impactful for a disc golf brand. The question now is whether this boost in Prodigy Discs sales is a temporary bump or if Isaac Robinson’s World Championship victory will have a long-term impact?
It will be interesting to monitor Prodigy Discs sales in the coming months to gauge whether Robinson’s victory has ignited a lasting passion for their discs among disc golf enthusiasts.

There was a time a few years ago where I knew and tested every new disc from every brand.
Now I just don’t even try anymore.
There are so many new molds and brands popping up that I’d pretty much have to test a new disc every day, and remember how it flew, just to keep up with all the new discs approved by the PDGA.
I ran some data from the PDGA approved discs to see exactly how rapid the pace of disc golf manufacturing has increased. As you can see from the curve, it’s pretty much an exponential increase over the last two years.
There will be more new discs approved by the PDGA during 2023 than any other year. More unique molds have been created through the first eight months of this year than were during the 20 year period from 1983-2003!
It’s not just that the major brands are pumping out more new molds each year. The biggest contributor to the increased PDGA approval is the huge influx of new disc golf brands.
This graph shows the number of different brands with discs approved by year. 2023 has already had more discs approved by different brands than any other year with 70 different companies approving at least one disc mold.
Number of PDGA Discs by Brand
Next we are going to take a look at the number of disc molds by each individual brand. Because there are so many disc golf brands that have been or are currently in existence, I had to divide these charts into four different categories just so we can read them.
Big Brands
We classified big brands as those with at least 30 different disc molds approved by the PDGA. Innova by far has the most different disc golf molds with Discraft and Prodigy coming in second and third. Despite it’s relative newness in the disc golf manufacturing world, Lone Star Discs made this top 15 list of “big brands”.
Medium Brands
The medium brands on this chart have between 10 and 30 different disc molds approved by the PDGA. Axiom Discs nearly broke into the big brand barrier with 28 discs, and to my surprise, the Canadian manufacturer Daredevil disc is also right there at 29.
Small Brands
Small brands are those with between 5 and 9 disc molds approved by the PDGA
Extra Small Brands with less than 5 molds approved
Growing Brands
Much of the PDGA approval list is because of the rapid growth of many of the new disc golf brands. These are the companies that are aggressively investing in new molds.
The below graph shows the number of discs PDGA approved in the last year. Remix Disc Golf dominates this list with 17 different disc molds approved. Clash Discs, Doomsday Discs, Orbital, and Yikun Discs are close behind.
When I pull the date for the last two years, Lone Star Disc is the fastest growing brand with 28 new molds in this time period.
Who are these new disc golf brands?
I used to do regular posts that were updated with all of the new disc molds each year. Now I’ll simply go over these rapidly growing disc golf brands. If you haven’t heard of them, you’re probably not alone.
Lone Star Disc
Lone Star Disc is a remarkable disc golf company with a unique origin story. Founded by a Texas-based plastic company that primarily manufactured parts for oil rigs, the company underwent a transformative journey during the pandemic. As the oil industry slowed down, their son proposed the idea of exploring the disc golf market, and it turned out to be a brilliant move.
Leveraging their expertise and resources, Lone Star Disc started producing their own molds and plastics in-house, capitalizing on their Texas roots, and quickly gained traction in the disc golf community. Their ability to quickly produce molds and manufacture locally allowed them to respond swiftly to customer demands and rapidly expand their product line when other manufacturers weren’t able to keep up.
Lone Star Disc has invested heavily in marketing strategies by establishing both Professional and Amateur teams, further solidifying their presence as a major player in disc golf. They have a full line of discs with some very unique molds like the oversized Super Dillo. With their unwavering dedication to quality and innovation, Lone Star Disc, and the “quality of their plastic” is undoubtedly making a significant impact in the disc golf world.
Clash Discs is another brand that formed as result of the pandemic boom. Renowned for their commitment to quality, Clash Discs takes pride in producing discs with ultra-high-quality plastic and they have chosen Finland as their manufacturing hub. This strategic decision ensures that their discs are crafted with precision and durability, providing disc golfers with exceptional performance on the course. However, Clash Discs is not just about manufacturing exceptional discs; they also invest heavily in marketing strategies that set them apart from the competition. With disc names like Honey, Popcorn Peach, and Fudge, they embrace a fun and creative approach that appeals to disc golfers of all levels. Additionally, Clash Discs has built a formidable professional sponsored team, comprising top-tier athletes, which is a testament to their dedication and support for the sport. Despite being a relatively small company, Clash Discs continues to make waves with its innovative designs, passionate marketing approach, and strong commitment to professional partnerships.
Doomsday Discs undoubtedly is one of the most unique and distinct brands in the disc golf. The brand prides itself on pushing boundaries and embracing an unconventional approach to disc design. With an emphasis on creating discs that challenge tradition and offer players a truly unique experience, Doomsday Discs has captured the attention of a significant fanbase of disc golf enthusiasts. Several of the Doomsday Disc molds like the WMD are deliberately not able to be approved by the PDGA. From their captivating disc artwork to their innovative and unconventional molds, Doomsday Discs are definitely unique.
The brand’s commitment to uniqueness extends beyond aesthetics, as they continuously seek to allow team members to develop discs that offer a creative look feel and flight characteristics. In a sport filled with traditional standards, Doomsday Discs dares to be different, making it a must-have for players looking to add a distinct touch to their disc golf collection.
Remix is another unconventional disc golf company, and is a disc golf brand that we are not able to sell on Infinite Discs. The origins of this brand were unknown until Bodanza Disc golf discovered that the brand is owned by MVP disc sports for their Amazon.com sales. While several of their discs have been around for a while, they just decided to get them PDGA approved this year.
Yikun Discs
Yikun is an established disc golf manufacturer that has significantly expanded its range of disc molds in recent years. The Chinese brand’s collaboration with Discmania and increase in production quality has undoubtedly bolstered its reputation within the disc golf community.
Furthermore, Yikun is set to launch a new line called Glaze next month, featuring a selection of innovative disc molds. Based on insider information, these forthcoming discs are visually captivating and some of the most aesthetically pleasing plastic discs ever made.
Undoubtedly, the disc golf pandemic boom created the surge of new disc golf businesses all trying to tap in on the growing market.
In my opinion, the growth of new disc molds is growing much faster than disc golf. Disc golf retailers will not be able to keep up. While Infinite Discs still attempts to stock all disc molds from every brand, independent brick and mortar pro shop only have room for so much product. Disc golf retailers need to pick and choose and will only select from the best and most popular discs from the most popular brands.
If companies can create demand for their discs they will find success with the new molds they are producing. If they cannot, then we will see a correction in the disc golf production market as new brands fail because the cost of developing and manufacturing discs exceeds revenue brought in from sales. I expect that we will see a large number of “out of production” and “expired molds” over the next few years.
Over the past six years, the disc golf landscape has undergone a remarkable transformation. The growth of professional disc golf coverage, the disc golf pro tour, major pro players shifting sponsors, and the Covid boom have caused some drastic shifts in disc golf brand market share. Analyzing the data from InfiniteDiscs.com from 2018 to 2023, it is clear that the industry has witnessed both the rise of new brands and the reshaping of established ones.

Comparing the Disc Golf Market of 2018 with 2023
In 2018, the disc golf market was largely dominated by a few key players. Innova stood as the undisputed leader with a commanding 37.17% market share. Discmania was our #2 selling brand with 9.06% and Dynamic Discs slightly behind at 8.96% of brand market share. While Discraft held a significant 7.68%, they were no where close to Innova in terms of disc golf brand sales.
However, fast forward to 2023, and the landscape has evolved significantly. Innova’s market share has almost halved to 18.41%, yet they maintain their position as the top disc golf brand. This decline suggests that while Innova remains a dominant force, their hold on market dominance has loosened, allowing for the rise of competitors and other new brands.
The biggest growth of the market share pie is the “Others” category. In 2018, disc golf brands outside of the top twelve represented only 6.5% of disc golf sales. This year, the others account for nearly 17% of our online sales.
Pandemic Disc Golf Brands
The Covid 19 pandemic lead to unprecedented growth in disc golf and the number of disc golf businesses. We currently sell 23 different disc golf brands that didn’t even exist in 2018.
Lone Star Disc’s ascension from no Infinite Discs sales in 2020 to 4.32% brand share in 2023 demonstrates the power of local and regional branding. By tapping into the Texan spirit, they have captured the hearts of players in their area and beyond. While Lone Star was new to disc golf during the pandemic, they were not new to mold creation or injection molding. Their ability to produce dozens of molds almost instantly and their acquisition of a large professional and amateur disc golf team have had a big impact on their rapid growth.
Additionally, the meteoric rise of Clash Discs from no US Sales in 2021 to 1.71% of the market share in 2023 illustrates the potential of novel marketing approaches and product differentiation.
Interestingly, Infinite Discs, while not a new entrant during the pandemic, has also seen impressive growth from 3.60% in 2018 to 12.66% of brand market share in 2023 thus far. Because we are InfiniteDiscs.com, the results are undoubtedly skewed from our direct sales, as Infinite Discs fans are more likely to shop from our retail site than anywhere else.
Likewise, Thought Space Athletics is another brand that has rapidly grown and seen sizeable market share added. Over the last six years they have gone from an obscure niche brand to a mainstream competitor. The focus on disc aesthetics and the signing several notable professional players certainly has helped
Impact of Professional Players Switching Sponsors
Discraft and Paul McBeth
Discraft experienced a significant rise in its brand market share between 2018 and 2020, largely attributed to a strategic move that had a profound impact on the disc golf world. At the heart of this transformative shift was the signing of Paul McBeth, the then-undisputed number one disc golfer in the world. McBeth’s association with Innova, his long-standing sponsor, made his unexpected transition to Discraft a remarkable development. This transition was fueled by the allure of the first multi-million-dollar disc golf contract, shaking the foundations of the sport. McBeth’s immense popularity and prowess on the course created a seismic effect that reverberated across the sport, drawing newfound attention to Discraft. However, Discrafts rapid growth can’t be solely attributed to McBeth’s signing.
At the same time, Discraft also implemented strategic moves by producing more visually appealing discs and adding flight numbers to their stock discs. The timing of Discraft’s acquisition of former professional Ultimate Frisbee player Brodie Smith coincided with the pandemic shutdown of most Ultimate Frisbee events due to pandemic restrictions. This confluence of factors acted as a catalyst for Discraft’s rapid expansion, turning the brand into the second major contender in the disc golf industry.
MVP and Simon Lizotte
The year 2022 witnessed a remarkable surge in the market presence of both MVP and Axiom, a momentum that carried over and intensified into 2023. A pivotal catalyst for this growth was the strategic sponsorship of Simon Lizotte, widely regarded as one of the most popular disc golfers globally. Renowned not only for his exceptional skills on the course but also for his charismatic personality and substantial YouTube and social media followings, Lizotte’s affiliation with MVP and Axiom injected newfound energy and visibility into the brands.
With an engaging and dynamic presence, Lizotte captivated audiences and fans worldwide, drawing attention to MVP and Axiom discs in the process. His influence extended beyond just his performances on the course, transcending into a vibrant online community. This symbiotic relationship between Simon Lizotte’s appeal and the brands’ products culminated in a notable uptick in their market share. The combination of innovative disc designs, Lizotte’s influencer status, and his ability to connect with disc golf enthusiasts contributed to the meteoric rise of MVP and Axiom, solidifying their positions as influential players in the ever-evolving disc golf landscape.
MVP’s market share has surged from 5.76% in 2018 to an impressive 8.20%, indicating a strong resonance with disc golf enthusiasts. Axiom, another subsidiary of MVP, has also grown from 3.25% in 2018 to 6.34% in 2023, showcasing their ability to carve out their niche in the market.
Discmania, Dynamic Discs and Latitude 64
Discmania’s trajectory is also noteworthy. Although their market share has decreased slightly from 9.06% in 2018 to 4.02% in 2023, their ability to maintain a considerable share amidst a rapidly expanding market signifies a dedicated following. This trend is echoed by brands like Latitude 64 and Dynamic Discs, which have also maintained consistent shares, demonstrating their ability to foster brand loyalty.
Growth of New Disc Golf Brands
The data also underscores the growth of niche brands. Thought Space Athletics, a brand focusing on unique disc designs, has grown from 0% in 2018 to 3.87% in 2023. Similarly, Kastaplast, with its distinctive Swedish heritage and unique plastic blends, has grown from 0.76% in 2018 to 2.52% in 2023. These examples highlight the impact of brand identity and differentiation in a crowded market.
Furthermore, the diversification of the market is evident in the proliferation of smaller brands. While individually they may not command substantial market shares, collectively they contribute to the richness of options available to players. Brands like RPM Discs, DGA, Viking Discs, and Finish Line Discs may not dominate the market, but they cater to specific tastes and preferences.
The evolution of disc golf brands is indicative of the broader trend of the sport’s growing popularity. As more players enter the scene and as the sport gains recognition, the market becomes a battleground for innovation, quality, and brand loyalty. The increasing number of brands also speaks to the democratization of the sport, as more players are drawn in and more entrepreneurs seize the opportunity to create and promote their products.
The past six years have seen a transformative shift in the disc golf market. While Innova’s leadership has slightly waned, it still maintains its position as the leading brand. However, the rise of MVP, Axiom, Lone Star Disc, and others indicates that the industry is open to disruption and innovation. The disc golf landscape is no longer characterized by a few giants, but rather by a diverse array of brands catering to different tastes, regions, and playing styles. This evolution bodes well for the continued growth and dynamism of the sport.

When it comes to top fairway drivers, Innova manufactured products dominate this category again. The Thought Space Athletics drivers, Votum and Mantra, are also quite popular with both of those discs showing up in the top 10.
Best Midrange Discs
While new midrange discs come and go, the Discraft Buzzz consistently remains to top midrange disc year after year. In fact, in terms of midrange sales, it’s not even close. Through the first eight months of 2023 Infinite Discs sold more than 1,500 more Buzzz’s than the second place Axiom Hex.
Behind distance drivers, putters hold the next spot for most sold disc golf discs. There’s no better way to improve your putting game than trying out a new putter – or ten.
At Infinite Discs, our mission is to provide the best resource for disc golf information on the Internet. With our revitalized website and innovative features, we hope we are able to help you find the best disc golf discs.
Welcome back to another Focus Friday, where we look at a certain mold or brand, and give you a discount so you can try it out for yourself. This weekend is one of the most special weekends of all time.. Saturday the 5th is National Disc Golf Day!
5 years ago, it was decided that the first Saturday in August would always be known as National Disc Golf Day. But disc golf has slowly been growing ever since the official creation of the PDGA in 1976.
During the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020, the desire for disc golf products exploded as families and friends alike were trying to find ways to interact with others while outdoors. Live streaming of disc golf events, increased amount of professionals, and the creation of the pro tour has only increased the popularity and love of disc golf.
You can read more about this holiday from PDGA HERE
Leave a comment below telling us when you found the sport of disc golf!
DISCOUNT -> This weekend, you can enjoy a 10% off discount code that will work *storewide! The code is ‘NATDGDAY’
This deal will end Monday night, so get yourself this mold while you can!

Welcome to the top-selling discs report! At the beginning of each month, we will take a look back at the previous month to calculate which discs sold the best. You have a chance to win a $20 gift card each month if you correctly guess a certain spot for the next month (see below for more details).
Each month, we look at the top 50 disc sales data for mold AND plastic-type to see which disc rose to the top. Due to this, it is possible that a single model could show up on the list several times, each representing a different plastic type. This also helps us to know which disc in which plastic are the most popular among our customers.
Here is the breakdown of the top 50 molds from July 2023 at Infinite Discs:

The infamount Glitch has finally been surpased in our monthly best selling line up! The Metal Flake Glow C-Blend Aztec has been a much desired mold for the longest time. So once it hit our shelves last month, our customers went crazy for them! The Aztec was quickly followed up by another Metal Flake Glow mold… the Sphinx. Each of these molds are solid and would be a great addition to any bag.
Last month, we had a small selection of Polecats in GStar and Star plastic. These were to commemorate Team Infinite pro James Proctors Polecat World Championship win. The GStar was so popular, we purchased a uploaded a limited restock! Be sure to get some before they sell out again.
One more selection of discs to make mention of is two discs from Mint Discs… The Longhorn and the Lobster. Both molds do tend to be Mint Discs most popular discs and we were glad to get a retsock of them.
Here is how many times each brand appeared in the line up:
The Guessing Game
Every month you’ll be able to place your guess for a certain spot on the chart for the next month. The first person to guess the disc and plastic type correctly for the named chart position will win a $20 gift card for the Infinite Discs online store.
PLACE A GUESS for next month. If you can by the first to guess the #6, #21, #46 spot for August then you can be a winner. Leave your guess in the comments on this blog.
Thanks! See you next month

This is a big deal for us. We have spent countless hours working on our new website and now it is finally launched.
As with most new things technology, when new there are always errors and glitches. This is not just a Shopify site, but a custom built website that we have invested in designed specifically for disc golf sales.
Please be patient with us and we are working to resolve them. There are a number of images of non disc products that did not import successfully as well as other errors we are discovering.
While browsing our new website, here are a few things to check out:
Smart Search Feature
Our new search bar is substantially more intelligent than our old site. Now if you type “Discraft” it will take you directly to the Discraft page.
If you type in a disc mold name it will take you directly to the disc model page rather show you individual listings of those discs. These new search features will save you time and make your disc golf shopping easier.
Disc Profile Images
One of the most frequent questions our customer service team is asked is “how domey is the disc”
Well, now you can look at them and see for yourself.
Because our old website did not have that feature, none of the old images feature the profile picture, but going forward you can expect newly added discs to include the profile picture.
Enhanced Flight Paths
The flight paths displayed on InfiniteDiscs.com now vary by plastic type. These flight paths are generated based on user ratings. You can now compare stabilities of different plastics in the same molds based on what previous reviewers have said when entering flight paths in their disc reviews.
With these new flight paths you can also adjust the dimensions based on throwing speed to get a better indication of how a particular disc will fly for you. You can also adjust this flight path based on if you through right handed, left handed, backhand or forehand.
Comparison Feature
Now you can compare different discs side by side. Simply add them to your cart, and then compare helping you decided the best disc for you.
Many more to come…
These are just a few of the great new features of Infinite Discs 3.0. We will highlight more features in future posts.
10 years ago we sought out to create the best disc golf website. The most recent version of InfiniteDiscs.com was really good for it’s time, but, it used some older technology and was built when we had 1/20th of our current traffic and a fraction of our current inventory.
For the last three years we have been working to create a better and more modern website version.
We are currently in the process of transferring our databases (more than 80,000 unique individual products) from our old website and server to a new, better website and faster server.
This new website will provide several advantages including:
Faster
Improved Functionality
Easier to Navigate
Ability to handle MORE Traffic at once.
Less likely to crash during hot releases
Better flight paths
2nd Picture of Every Disc (showing each individual disks profile).
Exact scaled weight
And other great features to ensure that once again, InfiniteDiscs.com is the best disc golf website.
However, transferring a database this long takes some time, and during the transfer, our retail site will be is down for a bit (we hope not too much longer).
But I NEED to shop disc golf right now!
We get it, sometimes shopping for disc golf equipment is a need.
In the meantime, you can shop at our Disc Golf Outlet Store DiscountDiscGolf.com
Wait, you didn’t know we have an outlet store?
Well we do. It’s focus is very different than InfiniteDiscs.com with a much smaller selection, less information, and no individual pictures of every disc.
But, like the name implies. it has some really inexpensive discs. If you like cheap disc golf discs…
