Storm Disc Golf Continues to Build Their Disc Line-Up

It is fun to watch new brands enter the boutique disc market year after year. One of the newcomers to the disc market is Storm Disc Golf.

Storm recently released their second putter, called the RADAR, plus introduced their first offering in Category 3 plastic with a premium edition of their EYE mid-range. With those new releases, we thought we’d take a quick look at their disc line-up so far and give a quick run-down of the plastic types.

So far, Storm discs has the following:

2 Putters, 1 Mid-Range, 1 Fairway Driver, and 1 Distance Driver

The Jet Stream – Distance Driver

The Storm Jet Stream is an overstable, high speed distance driver with a fairly thick rim width. When thrown by experienced disc golfers, the Jet Stream will experience some high-speed turn before finishing the flight with a strong, low-speed fade. Disc golfers with less power will find the Jet Stream to be consistently overstable.

  • Speed: 12.0
  • Glide: 5.0
  • Turn: -1.0
  • Fade: 3.0

The Abyss – Fairway Driver

The Abyss is an impressive disc from Storm Disc Golf. This is a workhorse on the fairways with a manageable speed and dependable fade for consistent performance under all conditions. It can handle the power of experienced players who need precision s-flights to the basket. For less experienced players, it will have an overstable fade.

  • Speed: 8.0
  • Glide: 4.0
  • Turn: 0.0
  • Fade: 3.0

The Eye – Mid-Range

The Eye is a straight-flying mid-range which will hold the line for players of all skill levels. This wide diameter disc has excellent glide and can come in weights up to 181 grams for a solid, manageable feel and flight.

  • Speed: 5.0
  • Glide: 5.0
  • Turn: -1.0
  • Fade: 1.0

The Crater – Putt and Approach

The Crater is a unique putter where the center portion of the flight plate is lower than the outer rim, creating a unique feel and thumb track design. It is an overstable putt and approach disc designed to handle wind and find its way to the ground without a lot of glide.

  • Speed: 3.0
  • Glide: 2.0
  • Turn: 0.0
  • Fade: 3.0

The Radar – Putt and Approach

The Radar is a stable putter with impressive glide. It has a very different feel and flight from the Crater. It is very dependable with a straight flight path and is great for not only putting but also for approaches and finesse driving off the tee.

  • Speed: 2.0
  • Glide: 5.0
  • Turn: 0.0
  • Fade: 0.5

The 3 Plastic Types So Far

Storm Disc Golf currently has three plastic types which are as follows. Category 1 is their softer, grippy plastic blend designed as a favorite for putters or for playing in cold or wet conditions.  Category 2 is a premium plastic that is more opaque and durable, more popular in mids and drivers. And Category 3 is another durable, premium blend with a slight more translucent look that should last a long time even with rougher handling on the course.

We’re excited to watch as Storm Disc Golf continues to bring more discs to the market. If you have thrown Storm discs and want to give your opinions and comments below, we welcome your feedback!

TOP TWENTY TUESDAY – SEPTEMBER 24TH 2019

Welcome to another Top 20 Tuesday sales chart. We break these charts down by plastics as well so you can see which plastic types are most popular for each disc. New discs will often spike in the chart as other top sellers shuffle position. The chart is created by sales figures that are pulled from all Infinite Discs sales for the previous week — our customers decide the results with their purchases.

Top Twenty Tuesday for September 24th, 2019

#1 – ESP MALTA
#2 – Cryztal LUNA
#3 – Discraft Special Blend LUNA
#4 – ESP ANAX
#5 – ESP ZEUS
#6 – Tortoise Line TOMAHAWK
#7 – Star DESTROYER
#8 – D-Line P2
#9 – R-Pro PIG
#10 – Tortoise Line METEOR HAMMER
#11 – Champion MAKO3

#15 – K2 BERG
#16 – K1 BERG
#17 – Eraser WIZARD
#18 – Nexus FIREFLY
#19 – K3 BERG
#20 – Gold Line Burst RIVER

From first glance you’ll see that blue has taken over the top of the chart, and that blue represents Discraft. With a couple of special releases last week, the new MALTA overstable mid-range in the McBeth line jumped to the top, followed closely by the limited edition Cryztal LUNA release commemorating his fifth worth championship. We still don’t know why Discraft didn’t just make more of those Cryztal Lunas, but at this point they were extremely limited and there are none left on our website. The Zeus, stock edition Anax, and stock Luna all stayed at the top of the chart as well.

We also see a couple of other interesting entries on the chart this week. Two of the new overmold releases from Yikun hit the charts with the TOMAHAWK and the METEOR HAMMER. Those two molds join the Twin Swords to make a complete set of driver, mid, and putter with Yikun’s interesting overmold approach called “Tortoise Line”.  We also see that the BERG putter from Kastalplast his the top 20 with all three plastic types, K1, K2, and K3. It’s fund to see a couple of import brands on the chart!

Here is a look at the number of times that different brands hit the chart this week:

–> Each week we’ll invite you to leave a prediction for a certain chart position on next week’s TOP TWENTY TUESDAY report. The person to predict that chart position correctly in the comments will win a $10 gift card for the Infinite Discs website.

WINNER – The number 14 spot was claimed by the Neo ENIGMA which dropped from the top of the chart the week before. Two people picked the Neo Enigma for the #14 spot, and they did it within four minutes of each other. We’ll typically give it to the first, but for this week we’ll give it to both since it was a very close call on a very good guess. Congrats Daniel and Gruchy!

Introducing FlighTowel

Infinite Discs Welcomes FlighTowel!

We’re here to introduce you to the newest towel on our site, FlighTowel! This towel comes in three different forms: FlighTowel, FlighTowel JR, and FlighTowel Mini.

The FlighTowel

The FlightTowel brings new innovation to warming up for disc golf, with the utility of a towel to dry your discs. The FlighTowel comes with a Disc Fob attached, made from a real disc. When purchasing your FlighTowel, you can select a Disc Fob that suits your game!

To warm up, hold the FlighTowel by the Fob and pull through across your chest, as demonstrated in the video below. There is a pocket on the bottom of the towel to add some drag, more realistically simulating weight and resistance.

When you’re done warming up, tuck the fob in your back pocket and use the towel to keep your discs dry for the rest of the game. The FlighTowel is awesome for warming up on the course, staying hot during the round, or even practicing at home. Check our our selection of FlighTowels here!

The FlighTowel JR

The FlighTowel JR is made from the same premium microfiber as the original FlightTowel, but without the fob. This is the biggest towel that FlighTowel makes, coming in at 16″ x 24″. This towel features a carabiner mounted in the middle of the towel, a unique feature that we love! This allows the disc to hang from your bag or cart without dragging on the ground. This keeps your towel clean while still having a large surface area to dry your discs off. See our selection of FlighTowel JR here!

The FlighTowel Mini

The FlighTowel Mini is a smaller version of the FlighTowel JR. The Mini features a center mounted adjustable bungee. This is a 16″ x 16″ microfiber towel.

Pick your bungee color and you’re all set! Use this towel on your bag, cart, or wrist during your round.

This, and the other FlighTowels, are truly towels like no other. See our selection of FlighTowel Mini here!

Prodigy Best Sellers – September 2019 Edition

Prodigy Best Sellers

It’s time to take a look at Prodigy Disc’s best sellers! We pulled these stats from the last year of sales (Sept to Sept). Let’s jump in and take a look!

Best Sellers Overall

This time we broke the chart down by the entire catalog, but also by series type. In the overall category, there was one clear winner: the Pa-3. This putter has been a popular seller for a long time! It has the perfect stability for putting, but still can handle a drive in the more premium plastics.

In second place, we find the D2. This is Prodigy’s most popular distance driver. The D1 is the most overstable, moving to the D6 at the most undestable. The D2 comes in at the sweet spot of not too overstable, but perfectly overstable for most amateur players.

The H3 V2 took third place. This is a newer mold that people are absolutely loving. It offers distance for the masses, being a speed 11 straight to overstable flyer.

Best Sellers by Series

At the top of the chart, we broke down the best sellers by series. We already talked about the Pa-3, D2, and H3 V2 — these also were the highest in their series. The other winners are the X3, M4, and F5.

We seem to notice a common trend; the highest selling disc in each series isn’t the most overstable or the most understable, they’re always in the middle. We find this trend is common for sales, people don’t buy the absolute most overstable or understable discs, but something in the middle.

Pa-3 Sales

Jumping back to the Pa-3, we included a chart showing the plastics that sell the best for this mold. 300 and 350 plastics took the cake by far, taking 68.9% of the Pa-3 sales. This makes sense, since these are perfect plastics for putting. The rest of the sales are made up of the premium plastics, typically used for driving rather than putting.

Sales by Disc Type

Distance drivers made up nearly 38% of our Prodigy sales over the last year. Even though the best seller was a putter, the putter category came in second with 26% of sales. Fairways came in third with 23%, and mids come in last with only 13%.

That’s all for now! What did you find surprising? Leave us your thoughts in the comments!

Top-Selling Infinite Discs Brand

Infinite Discs launched a line of discs in early 2018 in partnership with Innova Champion Discs. Since then, several molds have been introduced into the market. While some are very new and haven’t had as much time to earn a reputation or build sales momentum, a few are starting to stand out as favorites.

Here is a look at the top 10 best-sellers for the Infinite Discs brand so far…

#1 – PHARAOH – Distance Driver

#2 – EXODUS – Fairway Driver

#3 – SPHINX – Fairway Driver

#4 – TOMB – Putt and Approach

#5 – SLAB – Utility Distance Driver

#6 – CHARIOT – Mid-Range

#7 – MYTH – Putter

#8 – EMPEROR – Distance Driver

#9 – ANUBIS – Mid-Range

#10 – RA – Mid-Range

It is probably no surprise that the Pharaoh has more than doubled the sales of any of the other disc models so far. It has been a popular distance driver and each run has had its own profile and flight characteristics, which makes it a fun disc to fill a bag for a multitude of uses. You can see a Pharaoh Run Comparison Log HERE:

http://infinitediscgolf.com/InfiniteLine/Discs/distance-drivers/pharaoh/

The Exodus comes in 2nd place as a great fairway driver for players of all levels. It handles torque well and can be powered for long distances even with it’s smaller rim configuration. You can see a log of the Exodus Runs HERE:

https://infinitediscgolf.com/InfiniteLine/Discs/control-drivers/exodus/

In terms of momentum, the Sphinx is on a fast trajectory to catch the Exodus as it has become a fun favorite for new players who want a driver that is easier to keep straight, or for experienced players who love it for hyzer-flips and anhyzer lines. The Metal Flake Glow C-Blend edition Sphinx ended up quite a bit more stable than the I-Blend, earning it a spot even in the bags of power throwers who love to flip it out for impressive distances.

The Tomb is also a disc that has gained momentum since its release.  It has become best known as an approach disc or small-diameter alternative to traditional mid-range discs. There are some players who have reported using it as a traditional putter, but with its flat top and low profile, it seems to have gained favor as a throwing putter in the premium plastic blends like S-Blend, I-Blend, and C-Blend. It can be laced down very narrow fairways with pin-point accuracy.

The Slab comes in 5th as a total utility distance driver. It is very overstable with a very flat top. It recently has gained a little bit of attention in the Jeremy Koling signature edition in “Concrete Plastic” which is a mix of metal flake and luster C-Blend.

Some of the newer models are yet to catch up with the 2018 releases, but the Emperor is starting to make a move as a more overstable distance driver than the Pharaoh. It is comparable to the popular Innova Destroyer. It will be fun to see what else catches on!

Leave a comment with your favorite Infinite Discs mold and tell us why!

Dynamic Discs Best Sellers – September 2019 Edition

Dynamic Discs Best Sellers

Alright, we’re back with another statistics blog! This time we’re looking at the best sellers from Dynamic Discs, among a few other statistics. Let’s jump right into the chart and see what comes out on top.

The Best Sellers

As it turns out, the top three sellers for the Dynamic Discs brand are all putters! The Judge comes in at #1, the Warden at spot #2, and the Deputy takes #3. These putters are all highly popular among all disc golfers, which is no surprise they sweep the podium. It’s no surprise when you see the first pie chart, that putters make up nearly 40% of Dynamic Discs sales.

The Escape comes in as the top fairway driver, the Emac Truth comes in as the top midrange, and the Trespass, as the #6 disc, is the first distance driver on the list.

The Plastic Types

Lucid is the #1 selling plastic type across all Dynamic molds. It comes in at 28.6% of all sales. Fuzion takes second, and Prime plastics take third. We included all burst versions with their original plastic types, so this graph is indicative of plastic feel, not look.

The Retired Molds

Dynamic recently announced 12 molds to be retired, and they are marked on the chart (along with the Fugitive which was retired more than a year ago). These molds made up 10.5% of all Dynamic sales in the last year, so it’s no surprise Dynamic is cutting back a little bit. The Renegade is the highest seller on the retired list, and is in the top half of best sellers.
