Drew Gibson Joins Infinite Discs

Infinite Discs is proud and excited to announce our partnership with with touring pro Drew Gibson. Drew will be representing Infinite Discs for the 2020 season. Both Infinite and Drew are happy with the partnership. Drew will be throwing a mixed bag, including Infinite brand molds. He is looking forward to representing Infinite Discs.

“I think the (Infinite) brand is headed in the right direction, “ said Drew, “and I wanted to be a part of something that is growing.”

Get To Know Drew Gibson

Drew played in his first pro event late in 2012, and has been part of the touring scene ever since. He is well known for his ability to crush a drive over 600 feet, and do so with accuracy. He attributes his power to his fitness and form.

“I’d say my core strength and hips create most of the power. It’s just about being smooth,”said Drew, “and having a form that is duplicatable”.

That power and accuracy helped Drew cash at nearly every event he played this year. He feels that part of what gave him success this year was his progress on his mental game.

“I feel I’m on the final leg of becoming a well-rounded player, “ said Drew, “ not only physically, but mentally as well.”

Drew Gibson grew up in Sacramento, California playing baseball and racing dirt bikes. An injury in a preseason baseball game prevented him from throwing well and spelled the end of his baseball aspirations. So, he picked up disc golf to fill the competitive void. When he started playing disc golf he was surrounded by many of the big names in disc golf. He received encouragement from them and other locals, which pushed him to get better.

“There were a lot of players who had an influence on me over the years, “ said Drew. “Just to name a few would be Josh Anthon, Derek Billings, and Jim Oates.”

The Future

Drew said he was excited to represent Infinite for 2020. Not only for the freedom of disc selection, but with the opportunity to work with various manufacturers on special projects.

“I think the (Infinite) brand is headed in the right direction and I just wanted to be a part of something that is growing and see if we can’t work as a team to show the community what Infinite has to offer,” said Drew. “I think the goals for this year are large, and I think we can obtain them.”

When it comes to the near future, Drew has some simple, yet ambitious goals for the upcoming season.

“I just want to put myself in a position to win as many times as possible. I feel the more chances I have to close out an event the easier they’ll come”, he said. “I’d love to just have a strong season in 2020 and prove I can be consistent and battle for the big wins week in and week out.”

In addition to being optimistic about his future, he believes the sport will continue the growth it has been experiencing lately. He points toward Paul Mcbeth’s contract last year as evidence of a bright future for the sport.

“I think in 5 years the sport will grow tremendously. The stuff Mcbeth has done with promotion and such is just a peek into the potential I believe the sport has to offer.”

As for his longer-term outlook, Drew said, “ I’d just love to be in the mix in 5 years with Infinite on my back playing at the highest level still. I don’t think the sport or myself have cracked the potential of where it will be in 5 years.”

I want to do more than just be great at disc golf. I want to help accomplish a greater cause including increasing awareness of mental health.

Pro Tip

Asked for any advice Drew could give up-and-coming disc golfers, Drew said, “Smooth is far. The harder you try the more difficult it’ll be! Be smooth and find your groove. Don’t try to copy someone else’s throw, just work on your form and if you put in the time it’ll come.”

Drew has shown he has the talent, ambition, and knowledge to succeed in the challenging world of professional disc golf. All of us at Infinite Discs would like to welcome him to the family, and wish him all the best as he builds on last year’s successes heading into the 2020 season, and beyond!

TOP TWENTY TUESDAY – OCTOBER 29TH 2019

Welcome to another Top 20 Tuesday sales chart. We break these charts down by plastics as well so you can see which plastic types are most popular for each disc. New discs will often spike in the chart as other top sellers shuffle position. The chart is created by sales figures that are pulled from all Infinite Discs sales for the previous week — our customers decide the results with their purchases.

The chart was ruled by new releases this week, with the new Eclipse CRAVE by Axiom taking the #1 spot. Other new releases by Axiom, MVP, and Streamline all his the top 20 as well. The Prism Neutron PYRO hit at #8, the Cosmic Neutron Pilot at #11, the Cosmic Neutron Drift at #15, and the Plasma Shock at #19, along with some other molds from the brand that touched the chart because of the Goblin King stamp release through Infinite Discs.

The R-Pro PIG jumped up to the #2 spot with another fun stamp release. The Lucid X Suspect took the #4 spot because of the Paige Pierce signature release (now a 5-times world champion). The Z Glo Buzzz hit the chart at #10 because of the spooky Halloween edition. The Luster Aviar3 had an XXL limited edition stamp that took it onto the chart at #13, etc. So, a lot of new releases were in there.

Let’s take a look at how many times different brands hit the chart. If you add up Axiom, MVP, and Streamline (all the same manufacturer) then there were NINE of the 20 spots taken by them:

–> Each week we’ll invite you to leave a prediction for a certain chart position on next week’s TOP TWENTY TUESDAY report. The person to predict that chart position correctly in the comments will win a $10 gift card for the Infinite Discs website.

WINNER – The number 10 spot went to the Z Glo Buzzz this week, getting a boost from the Halloween stamp. There were a couple of ESP Buzzz guesses, but nobody picked the Z Glow Buzzz. No winner this week 🙁

GIFT CARD PREDICTION FOR NEXT WEEK:  Leave your comment below to guess the #5 spot for next week. It will go to the FIRST person to get it right. Good luck!

FOCUS FRIDAY – THE YIKUN LU (LUAN)

We’ve started taking the opportunity to focus on specific discs in specific plastic types on Fridays and call them “FOCUS FRIDAY” blogs. We may not make it on every week, but we’ll try to keep some fresh discs in the spotlight on a somewhat regular basis.

Our New Focus Friday Features the Yikun LU (or LUAN)

The LU by Yikun Discs (also called the “Luan”) was originally introduced in Phoenix Line plastic which is a durable, translucent plastic similar to popular blends like Innova Champion or Discraft Z Line. But more recently, Yikun experimented with a new version of the plastic which is now called PHOENIX STAR. This new plastic blend is gummy and flexible, like the discontinued Frost Line plastic by Latitude 64, or the sometimes seen Gummy Champion by Innova. It’s a great plastic blend for cold weather when discs tend to stiffen-up. It feels truly unique.

The disc itself came out VERY flat in the Phoenix Star plastic. It almost has the profile of a dinner plate! It is a wide rim driver at maximum “speed 14” and an overstable finish. This is a great utility disc when you want a hard fade at the end of flight, or if you love to crank sidearm (forehand) or overhand (tomahawk style). Power throwers will love cranking on the LU, and more intermediate players will find it to be a very useful overstable disc when a lot of side-to-side movement is needed on the course. The disc can also be used for a huge spike-hyzer.

Here is a little clip of an amateur throwing the overstable LU after showing how flexible it is. You can see how dramatically it fades once it loses speed.

Three Words: FLAT, FLEXIBLE, and FAST!

This week (until Saturday the 2nd of November) you can get your hands on the LU with a great discount of 20% OFF! Simply add the LU discs to your cart that you desire, then before clicking to “Checkout,” look below your shopping cart for the Discount Code box and enter this code:

FOCUS-LU

Then click “Checkout” to proceed to the payment screen with the 20% discount applied. The discount will apply to all the LU discs in your shopping cart.

TOP TWENTY TUESDAY – OCTOBER 22ND 2019

Welcome to another Top 20 Tuesday sales chart. We break these charts down by plastics as well so you can see which plastic types are most popular for each disc. New discs will often spike in the chart as other top sellers shuffle position. The chart is created by sales figures that are pulled from all Infinite Discs sales for the previous week — our customers decide the results with their purchases.

Top Twenty Tuesday for October 22nd, 2019

#1 – Star DESTROYER
#2 – Discraft Special Blend LUNA
#3 – D-Line P2
#4 – Star WRAITH
#5 – S-Line PD FREAK
#6 – Splatter S-Blend X-Out PHARAOH
#7 – DX X-Out LEOPARD
#8 – K2 BERG
#9 – Swirly S-Blend PHARAOH
#10 – Star TEEBIRD
#11 – Star VALKYRIE
#12 – Tortoise Line METEOR HAMMER
#13 – Tortoise Line TOMAHAWK
#14 – ESP MALTA
#15 – Nexus FIREFLY
#16 – Electron Firm PILOT
#17 – Star X-Out DESTROYER
#18 – R-Pro PIG
#19 – DX AVIAR
#20 – Star SHRYKE

Most of the chart completely switched-out this week with only 7 of the discs from last week’s chart still holding onto a spot in the Top 20. That is very rare. The Innova X-Out sale from last week did shake things up a little, but we see other oddities in this chart as well. For example, the ZEUS disappeared completely from the chart, which we haven’t seen happen for months! The Star DESTROYER jumped back to its old, familiar 1st position, followed by the LUNA which is still selling well. I’m sure we’ll see the Zeus back on the chart soon enough.

The Splatter S-Blend X-Out PHARAOH jumped to #6 as buyers took the opportunity to test that new run early with the factory 2nd discs. The two newest Tortoise Line discs from YIKUN also jumped onto the chart with the METEOR HAMMER and TOMAHAWK still getting a lot of attention with each restock.

Innova ran away easily with the most spots on this week’s chart with that x-out sale and some of their other strong sellers like the Star Wraith, R-Pro Pig, Nexus Firefly, etc. Here is a look at how many times the different brands placed on the chart this week:

–> Each week we’ll invite you to leave a prediction for a certain chart position on next week’s TOP TWENTY TUESDAY report. The person to predict that chart position correctly in the comments will win a $10 gift card for the Infinite Discs website.

WINNER – The number 20 spot is the hardest to guess of them all, since the lower the position on the chart, the more shuffling there is. Nobody guessed Star Shryke, though there were some close guesses for other discs near the bottom. Try again for next week!

GIFT CARD PREDICTION FOR NEXT WEEK:  Leave your comment below to guess the #10 spot for next week. It will go to the FIRST person to get it right. Good luck!

Focus Friday – The Discraft Predator

We’re going to start taking the opportunity to focus on specific discs in specific plastic types on Fridays and call them “FOCUS FRIDAY” blogs. We may not get every week, but we’ll try to keep some fresh discs in the spotlight on a somewhat regular basis.

Our New Focus Friday Features the Discraft PREDATOR

A lot of attention gets thrown on the newest entries into the disc golf market, and there’s always a new overstable fairway driver that players want to try. But this week we’re taking a look at a disc that has been around for a while, the PREDATOR. This is a very predictable overstable fairway that has a dependable fade, but without being so ridiculously extreme that it becomes a “utility disc.” The Predator is manageable enough that even newer players or intermediate players can use it when they need a disc that can shape lines around obstacles or fight into headwinds. The Predator has just enough beef to get the job done.

Paul McBeth started off the 2019 competitive season with the Predator as his overstable fairway driver until later switching to the Anax which is part of his signature line. Interestingly, the Predator and the Anax have very similar flight characteristics, so it doesn’t seem that much was changed-up for Paul’s overstable fairway needs.

Infinite Discs has a nice stock of Predators, including a custom run of ESP FLX PREDATOR discs for those who like a slightly more gummy feel with their premium plastic discs.

This week (until Saturday the 26th of October) you can get your hands on the PREDATOR with a great discount of 20% OFF! Simply add the Predators to your cart that you desire, then before clicking to “Checkout,” look below your shopping cart for the Discount Code box and enter this code:

FOCUS-PREDATOR

Then click “Checkout” to proceed to the payment screen with the 20% discount applied. The discount will apply to all the Predators in your shopping cart.

TOP TWENTY TUESDAY – OCTOBER 15TH 2019

New discs will often spike in the chart as other top sellers shuffle position. The chart is created by sales figures that are pulled from all Infinite Discs sales for the previous week — our customers decide the results with their purchases.

Top Twenty Tuesday for October 15th, 2019

#15 – Star WRAITH
#16 – K3 REKO
#17 – Signature Glow C-Line MD3
#18 – S-Line DD3
#19 – C-Blend SCEPTER

James Conrad took the #1 spot this last week with his USDGC championship commemorative AVIAR which sold out right away. Then the #2 spot went to the trusty D-Line P2 with the P-Line Stiff P2 grabbing the #6 spot as well.  The Star DESTROYER took the #3 spot as it always hangs out near the top, with the ESP BUZZZ taking the #4.

The Plasma WAVE entered the chart to the #10 spot, just on the strength of a restock. The Special Blend Swirly RIFT by DGA hit the #11 spot as it was a Focus Friday featured disc and grabbed some positive attention. Other discs on the chart are regulars while the C-Blend SCEPTER touched the chart in the #19 spot with a new stock stamp. If you want to try a Scepter, here is a secret discount code for reading this far– hiddencode.  Put that in the discount code box for an extra 20% off any Scepter in your shopping cart.

Here is a look at how many times different brands were on this week’s chart:

–> Each week we’ll invite you to leave a prediction for a certain chart position on next week’s TOP TWENTY TUESDAY report. The person to predict that chart position correctly in the comments will win a $10 gift card for the Infinite Discs website.

WINNER – The number 7 spot was taken by the ESP ZEUS by Discraft. That’s one of the lower placements it has had on the chart for a while. A couple of guys guessed it right, but the first to guess the ESP Zeus for #7 was Daniel. Congrats on the win!

GIFT CARD PREDICTION FOR NEXT WEEK:  Leave your comment below to guess the #20 spot for next week. It will go to the FIRST person to get it right. Good luck!

Focus Friday – The DGA Rift

We’re going to start taking the opportunity to focus on specific discs in specific plastic types on Fridays and call them “FOCUS FRIDAY” blogs. We may not get every week, but we’ll try to keep some fresh discs in the spotlight on a somewhat regular basis.

Our Second Focus Friday Will Feature the DGA RIFT

Infinite Discs was lucky to have the opportunity to release a special edition of the new DGA Mid-Range, The Rift, in a beautiful plastic blend with a great variety. There were two stamps on this limited run of only 500 discs– one special edition stamp and the other a 2019 World Championships stamp by Thought Space Athletics. But aside from how cool these discs turned out, they are also great flyers.

The RIFT is a stable, primarily straight flyer with only moderate fade. It’s the perfect compliment to two other awesome DGA mid-range discs, the Tremor (great understable mid) and the Quake (overstable). All of those mids, including the Rift, have a mostly flat top and a very comfortable rim feel. The Rift can become a workhorse mid-range for any player and can also get the job done for new disc golfers who need a disc that will follow their angle of release.

This week (until Saturday the 19th of October) you can get your hands on the RIFT with a great discount of 20% OFF! Simply add the Rifts to your cart that you desire, then before clicking to “Checkout,” look below your shopping cart for the Discount Code box and enter this code:

FOCUS-RIFT

Then click “Checkout” to proceed to the payment screen with the 20% discount applied. The discount will apply to the Special Blend plastic as well as the Pro Line plastic edition.
