The biggest stand-out this week is the new FREETAIL driver by Mint Discs which hit the #2 spot in Sublime plastic and two other spots (#6 and #12) with the two other premium plastic blends. That’s a nice debut!  The other spots mostly shuffled around with discs that regularly appear on the chart, since the first week of the year, and January in general, is slower for disc sales.

Here is a look at how many times different brands appeared on this week’s chart:

Infinite Discs Top 100 – 2019

The Top 100 Selling Discs of 2019

It is now 2020 and the number disc golf molds continues to increase every year. In this post we will take a look at the top disc golf discs based on annual sales data from 2019.

Graph Showing Best Disc Golf Discs by Sales

There they are, the Top 100 selling discs of 2019! With each disc, there is an arrow and a number. This represents how many places up or down the disc moved from 2018. For example, the #12 Thunderbird is down 4 places from 2018’s results, meaning in 2018 the Thunderbird was in the #8 spot for the year. We added this so that you can see if the disc is trending up or down, and by how far.

The Destroyer takes the #1 spot again, like it has for many years now. The Zeus was the closest competitor, taking the #2 spot. These are two very similar discs, is the Destroyer actually the best, or is it all about marketing? Do you think the Zeus will overtake the Destroyer in 2020 to become the top disc golf disc?

The Pig had the biggest movement up. It now holds the #27 spot for all of 2019. That’s up 187 spots from 2018. The #42 Berg and the #56 Reko also made giant leaps this year.

There were also several discs that were in the Top 100 of 2018, but did not make the chart here.  Sadly, some of the most noticeable falls were:

Mortar (▼278)
Rat (▼108)
Deflector (▼103)
P1x (▼102)
Captain (▼101)
Myth (▼94)
Chariot (▼89)
MD4 (▼83)
Sonic (▼83)
PD (▼74)
Defender (▼71)
Dagger (▼67)
Justice (▼60)
Sheriff (▼56)
Enforcer (▼54)

In a spike of interest due to the Focus Friday discount, the Star FOXBAT jumped to the #1 spot for the last week. Other mainstay discs began moving back to their usual positions with the D-Line P2 taking the #2 spot and the Star DESTROYER taking #3. The new Plasma Prism PYRO took the #4 spot as a new release last week. A couple of the special edition releases from the holidays are still lingering on the chart, like the Banger GT and Buzzz GT, or the Metal Flake FD, etc.

Here is a look at how many times the different brands appeared on this week’s chart:

–> Each week we’ll invite you to leave a prediction for a certain chart position on next week’s TOP TWENTY TUESDAY report. The person to predict that chart position correctly in the comments will win a $10 gift card for the Infinite Discs website.

WINNER – The #3 spot was taken by the Star DESTROYER, a long-time chart-dweller.  We had a tie with two people (the first two guesses) choosing the Star Destroyer at the exact same moment, so congratulations to both Chris and Dustin for winning the $10 gift card this week!

GIFT CARD PREDICTION FOR NEXT WEEK:  Leave your comment below to guess the #5 spot for next chart, which will likely be posted AFTER Christmas. It will go to the FIRST person to get it right. Good luck!

TOP TWENTY TUESDAY – DECEMBER 10TH 2019

Welcome back to the Top 20 Tuesday chart! We waited since November 19th to bring back the chart so that it would more accurately reflect the total sales for all of our Black Friday week-long sales. Now that the dust is settled, here is a look at what sold the most at Infinite Discs since November 19th:

Top Twenty Tuesday for November 20th – December 10th 2019

#1 – ESP BANGER GT
#2 – ESP BUZZZ GT
#3 – XT Mix NOVA
#4 – R-Pro PIG
#5 – Star DESTROYER
#6 – Metal Flake C-Line FD
#7 – Metal Flake Glow C-Blend AZTEC
#8 – Tournament Burst MAIDEN
#9 – Champion THUNDERBIRD
#10 – ESP XL
#11 – Discraft Special Blend LUNA
#12 – Star WRAITH
#13 – Lucid X Chameleon JUDGE
#14 – 350G PA-3
#15 – S-Blend PHARAOH
#16 – Aura MANTRA
#17 – D-Line P2
#18 – Royal PROFIT
#19 – ESP ZEUS
#20 – Star THUNDERBIRD

It goes without saying that this chart is abnormal, since the results are driven largely by the special releases and exclusive discs offered during the sale. But it is still interesting to see how the sales panned out. The Banger GT and Buzzz GT by Discraft took the top 2 spots, punctuating a growing interest in Discraft in 2019. The XT Nova took the #3 spot because of the run of “Black and White” Novas that we featured in our ad, followed by the Innova PIG which has had a very strong year, thanks to Ricky Wysocki using it as his primary upshot disc. The Star Destroyer did well, as expected, followed by the Metal Flake FD by Discmania in the 6th spot.

The AZTEC by Infinite Discs enjoyed a debut release with the Alien Aztec stamped glow edition jumping up on the chart. The Tournament Burst MAIDEN by Westside also did well, as this was its first time in a premium, durable plastic blend.

Here is a look at how many times different brands appeared on the Top 20 chart:

You can see the clash of the 2019 titans with Innova and Discraft appearing 6 and 5 times, with several appearances by other brands taking 1 or 2 spots each. Not showing on the chart, but coming very close were the Kastaplast Berg and Reko which sold very well, but barely missed the chart.

–> Each week we’ll invite you to leave a prediction for a certain chart position on next week’s TOP TWENTY TUESDAY report. The person to predict that chart position correctly in the comments will win a $10 gift card for the Infinite Discs website.

WINNER – We didn’t do the usual guessing contest for this chart, since it was a longer period with a lot of previous unannounced special releases. But we’ll resume for the coming week if you want to place your guess.

GIFT CARD PREDICTION FOR NEXT WEEK:  Leave your comment below to guess the #3 spot for next week. It will go to the FIRST person to get it right. Good luck!

TOP TWENTY TUESDAY – NOVEMBER 19TH 2019

We have a short-and-sweet Top 20 Tuesday report this week. We’re heading into the final preparations for the huge Infinite Discs Black Friday series of sales. Because of that, we’re going to halt the Top 20 Tuesday chart reports until the sales are over and resume again on December 10th. On that day we’ll share the Top 20 Chart that spans from now until then, so you’ll see which crazy deals and special releases saw the most action during the sales.

Here is a quick look at the Top 20 Best-Selling discs with their plastic types for the last week:

Top Twenty Tuesday for November 19th, 2019

#1 – Splatter S-Blend TOMB
#2 – Ethos MANTRA

#16 – K1 Glow GOTE
#17 – K3 REKO
#18 – Opto Air DIAMOND
#19 – Pro AVIAR YETI
#20 – Flashlight LED MIDRANGE (Nite Ize)

The Splatter S-Blend TOMB jumped to the #1 spot for the last week, as it was introduced alongside the Splatter-S-Blend PHARAOH which took the #3 spot. There are still a lot of players who are just now discovering the TOMB as a great approach putter and mid-range stand-in.  The Ethos MANTRA from Thought Space Athletics continued to hold a strong position in its 2nd week on the Top 20 chart, taking the #2 spot. It is an excellent straight-to-understable driver for all players.

Other familiar discs moved around the chart, including the usual Star DESTROYER and D-Line P2, among others.

WINNER – The number 7 spot was taken by the D-Line P2 putter this week. It looks like Daniel was the first to guess that disc for the #7 spot, so he’s this week’s $10 gift card winner. Congratulations!

GIFT CARD PREDICTION FOR NEXT WEEK:  As described above, there will be no guess for next week’s chart since we will not post another chart until AFTER the “Black Friday” sales conclude and we can tally everything up. We’ll see you again on December 10th when there will undoubtedly be a very crazy and unpredictable chart.

Top 5 Inexpensive Portable Disc Golf Baskets of 2019

In this blog I will discuss the top 5 most popular, inexpensive portable disc golf baskets for 2019. I hear a lot of people talk about the expense of getting a basket as though they are about to make a major purchase. While it is certainly possible to spend many hundreds of dollars on a new basket, it is also possible to get a quality practice basket relatively inexpensively. One of the best ways to improve in this sport is to practice putting regularly, and the best way to do that is to have a basket (or two) on hand for daily practice. So, lets jump in and look at the top five most popular baskets for 2019.

Top 5 Best Portable Disc Golf Baskets for 2019

Thinking about improving your game? Check out these top-selling portable baskets:

  1. DGA Mach Lite
  2. MVP Black Hole Pro
  3. MVP Black Hole Practice
  4. Axiom Pro
  5. Dynamic Discs Recruit

DGA Mach Lite Disc Golf Basket

The best-selling basket for 2019, and one of my personal favorites, is the DGA Mach Lite. This is a well-designed, inexpensive practice basket that is easy to set up and take down. It’s tough to beat the Mach Lite for portability and cost. No tools are necessary for set up. And the chains are  grabby for a portable. It also comes with a bag to carry the folded basket. I’ve had mine for about 5 years and it is still in good shape. The Mach Lite is a great basket if you will be transporting it from time to time.

MVP Black Hole Pro Disc Golf Basket

The next most popular portable disc golf basket is the MVP Black Hole Pro. The Black Hole Pro is a basket that is easy to set up and take down without tools. It has two rows of 12 chains to catch and hold your disc. The Black Hole Pro is a great example of getting a well-made basket at a reasonable price. The Pro is nearly the same quality level as a course basket. It is great if you want a good, grabby basket to practice with, and also want a great basket to use for temp holes during leagues or tournaments.

Black Hole Practice Disc Golf Basket

The third best selling basket is the little brother to the Black Hole Pro, and that is the Black Hole Practice basket. This basket is has lighter chains and no upper band compared to the Black Hole Pro. The Practice is lighter and easier to move around, and for a practice basket it is still grabs discs quite well. The Black Hole Practice is good for using at home, and occasionally using it as a temp basket.

Axiom Pro Disc Golf Basket

The Axiom Pro basket is a great choice, offering quality and portability at a good price. It is powder coated and comes in bright colors. The Axiom Pro easily sets up and breaks down without tools. The heavy duty chains provide good disc-grabbing power. The Axiom has 24 chains, and is another basket to consider if you want to practice at home, but still use as a quality temp basket for leagues or tournaments.

Dynamic Discs Recruit Portable Basket

Rounding out the top five portable baskets is the Dynamic Discs Recruit. This beefy basket is slightly larger than most practice baskets. Its two rows of chains will stop a speeding disc in a hurry. To aid in moving the basket around, the base has a wheel attached. While the Recruit is priced higher than the rest of the top five, it is also the sturdiest and heaviest. It does need tools to take it apart to move, and it is heavier to lift once disassembled. However, it does come apart relatively easy. The quality of the Recruit is exceptional. To be that well-built and sturdy at that price point is impressive. I’ve spent many hours putting on a Recruit, and I love the basket. It’s a great basket if you want a top-of-the-line quality at a reasonable price and you won’t be breaking it down frequently. If you are looking for something that you can transport frequently, I would consider something a little smaller/lighter.

It certainly is a good time to be in the market for a portable disc golf basket. The quality of the available baskets at the low price points means you can get a basket to improve your game without spending a ton of money. Check out our selection of baskets today and get on your way to lowering your scores.

TOP TWENTY TUESDAY – NOVEMBER 12TH 2019

Welcome to another Top 20 Tuesday sales chart. We break these charts down by plastics as well so you can see which plastic types are most popular for each disc. New discs will often spike in the chart as other top sellers shuffle position. The chart is created by sales figures that are pulled from all Infinite Discs sales for the previous week — our customers decide the results with their purchases.

Top Twenty Tuesday for November 12th, 2019

#1 – Tour ESP ANAX
#2 – Signature Swirly S-Line DD3
#3 – Ethos MANTRA
#4 – Star DESTROYER
#5 – K2 Glow BERG
#6 – Swirly S-Line FD
#7 – D-Line P2
#8 – K1 Glow BERG
#9 – K1 Glow GOTE
#10 – Cosmic Electron Firm ENVY
#11 – R-Pro PIG
#12 – Metal Flake Glow C-Blend SPHINX
#13 – Star WRAITH
#14 – Cosmic Electron Soft ENVY

#16 – Zero Medium Moonshine PURE
#17 – Discraft Special Blend LUNA
#18 – ESP ZEUS
#19 – Star Firebird FL
#20 – ESP BUZZZ

The chart this week was shuffled around quite a bit by new disc offerings. The Tour ESP ANAX jumped to #1 as a Paul McBeth “1060 rated” release in limited quantities. So, it spiked, but won’t stay at the top because of limited quantities. The return of the Signature Swirly S-Line DD3 “Cloud Breaker” pushed that disc to #2. The new, debut disc release by Thought Space Athletics, the MANTRA in Ethos plastic jumped to #3 which is great for their first disc release.

The Kastaplast glow run of BERG and GOTE discs remained on the top 20 chart this week, as did two different ENVY discs, thanks to the popular Goblin King stamp on those.

Here is a look at how many times different brands showed up on the chart this week:

–> Each week we’ll invite you to leave a prediction for a certain chart position on next week’s TOP TWENTY TUESDAY report. The person to predict that chart position correctly in the comments will win a $10 gift card for the Infinite Discs website.

WINNER – The number 6 spot was taken by the Swirly S-Line FD. It appears that nobody saw that one coming, as a newer release and without a signature stamp. It’s just a cool FD. So, no winner this week, but give it a try for next week!

GIFT CARD PREDICTION FOR NEXT WEEK:  Leave your comment below to guess the #7 spot for next week. It will go to the FIRST person to get it right. Good luck!
