Westside Discs Best Sellers – October 2019 Edition

Westside Best Sellers

Here we are again with another stats blog! This time, we’re going to take a look at the best selling discs from Westside. This will complete our “Trilogy” of stats blogs on Dynamic Discs, Latitude 64, and Westside Discs.

See Dynamic Best Sellers

See Latitude 64 Best Sellers

Okay, let’s jump in and look at the graph, then discuss. This graph is the last 12 months of sales on InfiniteDiscs.com.

The Top Three

No big surprise here, the Harp takes the #1 spot again! The Harp is one of the best selling and most widely used discs for overstable approach shots. If you haven’t tried one, you’re missing out.

The Maiden was hot when it released, and is still hot today. It continues to climb the charts and has made it’s way to the #2 position on the chart. It isn’t too far behind the Harp either! The Maiden is Putt & Approach disc that putts well and can handle power with drives.

The Destiny has been the most popular distance driver from Westside for years. It offers a long, understable flight that helps the thrower achieve maximum distance. It takes the #3 spot for the year.

Disc Types

Westside really knows how to make their Putt & Approach discs. 42% of the sales for the last year have been exactly that, Putt & Approach discs. The Swan is the least selling putter and it’s still about halfway up the list! The Harp, Maiden, and Shield really boost up the sales for the Putt/Approach category.

Distance drivers come in second at 27%, with the Destiny leading the charge. Mids come in at about 17%, and Fairways are in last place with only 13.6% of all Westside sales.

Plastic Types

As far as plastics go, VIP and Tournament take the cake for most purchased plastics. The three most popular putter plastics are next, Origio, BT Medium, and BT Hard. The Harp has a lot to do with these stats, and it sells very well in Tournament plastic for driving/approaching.

Megasoft comes in dead last, but that’s no surprise as it has been discontinued.

TOP TWENTY TUESDAY – OCTOBER 8TH 2019

New discs will often spike in the chart as other top sellers shuffle position. The chart is created by sales figures that are pulled from all Infinite Discs sales for the previous week — our customers decide the results with their purchases.

A lot of other regular sellers are on the chart this week with discs like the Aviar, Roc, and Wraith grabbing spots, and the usual Discraft Paul McBeth entries like the Zeus, Malta, Luna, and Anax. The Dynamic Discs VANDAL charted well in the #10 spot with the Latitude 64 KEYSTONE hitting at #15– both of those were Trilogy Challenge discs this year.

Also scraping the chart was the LED Putter by Nite Ize. As darkness comes earlier now, the Nite Ize discs have been selling well and have also been discounted. Just to reward you for reading this far, if you want to try the Nite Ize discs HERE and get an even crazier discount, then just use the discount code hiddencode before you checkout and you’ll get a crazy discount on those LED discs. We just want to see if you kept reading to this point.

–> Each week we’ll invite you to leave a prediction for a certain chart position on next week’s TOP TWENTY TUESDAY report. The person to predict that chart position correctly in the comments will win a $10 gift card for the Infinite Discs website.

WINNER – The number 10 spot was taken by the Lucid VANDAL by Dynamic Discs. It looks like nobody picked the Vandal for that spot on the guesses. Sorry, no gift card this week, but be sure to post your guess for next week for another chance at a win!

Top-Selling Discs On Sale for This Week

We thought it would be fun to put some of the long-term, top-selling discs on sale for this week, in case you need to restock after a busy disc golf summer season. The prices are automatically discounted on these disc models (no discount code is necessary).

DESTOYER – Distance Driver – ON SALE!
EXODUS – Fairway Driver – ON SALE!
BUZZZ – Midrange Disc – ON SALE!
P2 – Putter – ON SALE!

The DESTROYER had some competition this year as the top-selling distance driver as it pushed to keep up with sales of the new Discraft ZEUS and other new releases like the Discmania DD3 and the Dynamic Discs RAIDER.

There are some fun Destroyers in stock, aside from just stock stamps. There are a lot of custom stamp designs, plus some cool black Star Destroyers and Star Dyed Destroyers.

There are also a few signature series Destroyers in special plastics, Shimmer Star and Swirly Star, plus the new Halloween Destroyers.

You should be able to find plenty of different plastic types and plenty of different weights. Remember, when you click to SELECT YOUR DISC then you can sort by weight, from high to low, or low to high. You can also narrow your search to a specific plastic type by using the drop-down at the top left to pick the plastic you want to see.

There are also a few of the Paul McBeth 4x stamped editions in stock and a nice supply of the newer run of Ricky Wysocki stock editions.

We also though it would be fun to offer a fairway driver companion to go along with your distance drivers, so we’ve also discounted the Infinite Discs EXODUS. This was the first disc released in the Infinite Discs line which is manufactured by Innova Champion Discs. It is a great “power fairway” that can be thrown for shorter, precision shots as well as longer drives off the tee. It is very similar to the classic “Eagle L” by Innova and has become a favorite of many players from intermediate to pro.

It’s available in S-Blend (comparable to Star), C-Blend (comparable to Champion), and I-Blend (a long-lasting, inexpensive, Infinite Blend of Pro plastic).

The BUZZZ has always been among the top-selling mid-range discs on the market, if not the very top. It found new life with a Paul McBeth signature edition this year and has reached all-new heights of popularity. We currently have a great supply of the most popular edition in ESP Plastic, along with a lot of other choices, ranging from Jawbreaker to Full Foil. Again, simply click to SELECT YOUR DISC and you can pick your favorites.

To top it all off, we figured you’d need a discounted putter as well, so why not go with one of the top-selling putters on the market, the P2 by Discmania. We currently have a supply in many different plastics, from the softer, base plastic D-Line to premium blends like C-Line Glow. Check out the selection and remember, these prices are only good through Saturday, October 12th.

Focus Friday – The C-Blend Tomb

We’re going to start taking the opportunity to focus on specific discs in specific plastic types on Fridays and call them “FOCUS FRIDAY” blogs. We may not get every week, but we’ll try to keep some fresh discs in the spotlight on a somewhat regular basis.

Our first Focus Friday feature will be on the C-Blend TOMB.

The TOMB has risen in the ranks of Infinite Disc brand best-sellers as it has garnered attention as a superb approach disc. We’ve found that more players, particularly among the Team Infinite roster, use the Tomb to drive or approach the basket in lieu of a traditional mid-range disc. That has appeared to be a trend in disc golf where smaller diameter, putter-sized discs are used instead of the larger diameter mid-range discs (think of the Discraft Zone, Westside Harp, Hyzerbomb Mortar, Innova Pig, etc.). The Tomb has joined those ranks for straight, precision approach shots. It flies surprisingly straight with minimal fade and with it’s low profile and flat top, it feels comfortable for longer throws.

The C-Blend (comparable to Innova Champion plastic) is a more durable plastic that fits perfectly into that role, able to take some abuse and keep its flight characteristics for the long-term. While we have seen it used for putting, the plastic’s texture lends itself even better to mid-range use.

Here is an old review video for the TOMB in general, so you can see it in action:

Give the C-Blend Tomb a try as a straight-flying mid-range option, especially when you need to thread the needle on tight fairways. We think you’ll love it!

Storm Disc Golf Continues to Build Their Disc Line-Up

It is fun to watch new brands enter the boutique disc market year after year. One of the newcomers to the disc market is Storm Disc Golf.

Storm recently released their second putter, called the RADAR, plus introduced their first offering in Category 3 plastic with a premium edition of their EYE mid-range. With those new releases, we thought we’d take a quick look at their disc line-up so far and give a quick run-down of the plastic types.

So far, Storm discs has the following:

2 Putters, 1 Mid-Range, 1 Fairway Driver, and 1 Distance Driver

The Jet Stream – Distance Driver

The Storm Jet Stream is an overstable, high speed distance driver with a fairly thick rim width. When thrown by experienced disc golfers, the Jet Stream will experience some high-speed turn before finishing the flight with a strong, low-speed fade. Disc golfers with less power will find the Jet Stream to be consistently overstable.

  • Speed: 12.0
  • Glide: 5.0
  • Turn: -1.0
  • Fade: 3.0

The Abyss – Fairway Driver

The Abyss is an impressive disc from Storm Disc Golf. This is a workhorse on the fairways with a manageable speed and dependable fade for consistent performance under all conditions. It can handle the power of experienced players who need precision s-flights to the basket. For less experienced players, it will have an overstable fade.

  • Speed: 8.0
  • Glide: 4.0
  • Turn: 0.0
  • Fade: 3.0

The Eye – Mid-Range

The Eye is a straight-flying mid-range which will hold the line for players of all skill levels. This wide diameter disc has excellent glide and can come in weights up to 181 grams for a solid, manageable feel and flight.

  • Speed: 5.0
  • Glide: 5.0
  • Turn: -1.0
  • Fade: 1.0

The Crater – Putt and Approach

The Crater is a unique putter where the center portion of the flight plate is lower than the outer rim, creating a unique feel and thumb track design. It is an overstable putt and approach disc designed to handle wind and find its way to the ground without a lot of glide.

  • Speed: 3.0
  • Glide: 2.0
  • Turn: 0.0
  • Fade: 3.0

The Radar – Putt and Approach

The Radar is a stable putter with impressive glide. It has a very different feel and flight from the Crater. It is very dependable with a straight flight path and is great for not only putting but also for approaches and finesse driving off the tee.

  • Speed: 2.0
  • Glide: 5.0
  • Turn: 0.0
  • Fade: 0.5

The 3 Plastic Types So Far

Storm Disc Golf currently has three plastic types which are as follows. Category 1 is their softer, grippy plastic blend designed as a favorite for putters or for playing in cold or wet conditions.  Category 2 is a premium plastic that is more opaque and durable, more popular in mids and drivers. And Category 3 is another durable, premium blend with a slight more translucent look that should last a long time even with rougher handling on the course.

We’re excited to watch as Storm Disc Golf continues to bring more discs to the market. If you have thrown Storm discs and want to give your opinions and comments below, we welcome your feedback!

TOP TWENTY TUESDAY – SEPTEMBER 24TH 2019

Welcome to another Top 20 Tuesday sales chart. We break these charts down by plastics as well so you can see which plastic types are most popular for each disc. New discs will often spike in the chart as other top sellers shuffle position. The chart is created by sales figures that are pulled from all Infinite Discs sales for the previous week — our customers decide the results with their purchases.

Top Twenty Tuesday for September 24th, 2019

#1 – ESP MALTA
#2 – Cryztal LUNA
#3 – Discraft Special Blend LUNA
#4 – ESP ANAX
#5 – ESP ZEUS
#6 – Tortoise Line TOMAHAWK
#7 – Star DESTROYER
#8 – D-Line P2
#9 – R-Pro PIG
#10 – Tortoise Line METEOR HAMMER
#11 – Champion MAKO3
#12 – Star WRAITH
#13 – ESP BUZZZ
#14 – Neo ENIGMA
#15 – K2 BERG
#16 – K1 BERG
#17 – Eraser WIZARD
#18 – Nexus FIREFLY
#19 – K3 BERG
#20 – Gold Line Burst RIVER

From first glance you’ll see that blue has taken over the top of the chart, and that blue represents Discraft. With a couple of special releases last week, the new MALTA overstable mid-range in the McBeth line jumped to the top, followed closely by the limited edition Cryztal LUNA release commemorating his fifth worth championship. We still don’t know why Discraft didn’t just make more of those Cryztal Lunas, but at this point they were extremely limited and there are none left on our website. The Zeus, stock edition Anax, and stock Luna all stayed at the top of the chart as well.

We also see a couple of other interesting entries on the chart this week. Two of the new overmold releases from Yikun hit the charts with the TOMAHAWK and the METEOR HAMMER. Those two molds join the Twin Swords to make a complete set of driver, mid, and putter with Yikun’s interesting overmold approach called “Tortoise Line”.  We also see that the BERG putter from Kastalplast his the top 20 with all three plastic types, K1, K2, and K3. It’s fund to see a couple of import brands on the chart!

Here is a look at the number of times that different brands hit the chart this week:

–> Each week we’ll invite you to leave a prediction for a certain chart position on next week’s TOP TWENTY TUESDAY report. The person to predict that chart position correctly in the comments will win a $10 gift card for the Infinite Discs website.

WINNER – The number 14 spot was claimed by the Neo ENIGMA which dropped from the top of the chart the week before. Two people picked the Neo Enigma for the #14 spot, and they did it within four minutes of each other. We’ll typically give it to the first, but for this week we’ll give it to both since it was a very close call on a very good guess. Congrats Daniel and Gruchy!

GIFT CARD PREDICTION FOR NEXT WEEK:  Leave your comment below to guess the #15 spot for next week. It will go to the FIRST person to get it right. Good luck!

The NEO ENIGMA by Discmania took the #2 spot this week as a new distance driver release and we saw a restock of the popular LUNA by Discraft which enabled it to take the #3 spot.

Eight different brands hit the Top 20 chart this week, which is a pretty diverse representation. Here is a look at how many times different brands showed up in the chart this week:
