Our New Focus Friday Features the Discraft PREDATOR
A lot of attention gets thrown on the newest entries into the disc golf market, and there’s always a new overstable fairway driver that players want to try. But this week we’re taking a look at a disc that has been around for a while, the PREDATOR. This is a very predictable overstable fairway that has a dependable fade, but without being so ridiculously extreme that it becomes a “utility disc.” The Predator is manageable enough that even newer players or intermediate players can use it when they need a disc that can shape lines around obstacles or fight into headwinds. The Predator has just enough beef to get the job done.
Paul McBeth started off the 2019 competitive season with the Predator as his overstable fairway driver until later switching to the Anax which is part of his signature line. Interestingly, the Predator and the Anax have very similar flight characteristics, so it doesn’t seem that much was changed-up for Paul’s overstable fairway needs.

Our first Focus Friday feature will be on the C-Blend TOMB.
The TOMB has risen in the ranks of Infinite Disc brand best-sellers as it has garnered attention as a superb approach disc. We’ve found that more players, particularly among the Team Infinite roster, use the Tomb to drive or approach the basket in lieu of a traditional mid-range disc. That has appeared to be a trend in disc golf where smaller diameter, putter-sized discs are used instead of the larger diameter mid-range discs (think of the Discraft Zone, Westside Harp, Hyzerbomb Mortar, Innova Pig, etc.). The Tomb has joined those ranks for straight, precision approach shots. It flies surprisingly straight with minimal fade and with it’s low profile and flat top, it feels comfortable for longer throws.
The C-Blend (comparable to Innova Champion plastic) is a more durable plastic that fits perfectly into that role, able to take some abuse and keep its flight characteristics for the long-term. While we have seen it used for putting, the plastic’s texture lends itself even better to mid-range use.

This award’s category is a bit different than our other ones we have done so far. Today we are looking at unique discs. These are discs that you notice are different from the first time you see them or throw them. They could be drivers, putters, or some kind of hybrid. We are looking for the weird and unusual, but also don’t forget the first word of the title of this post: Best. Is this weird disc actually useful out on the course? And don’t forget our two keywords which are popularity and utility.
The popularity may not play as big of a role in today’s article, but we are still looking closely at utility. We are looking for the discs that are getting use out on the course still. We want uniqueness that provides something useful for the disc. So all that being said, let’s get to our nominees for The Infinite Discs Best Disc Golf Disc: Unique Disc.
The GT stands for “Groove Top,” which is pretty self explanatory. The Discraft Banger GT features a groove along the top of the disc that is designed for placing your thumb in the groove when you grip the disc. This disc is used as a putting putter, but is also a popular approach disc.
The Innova Condor is our nomination from the disc golf “super-class” category of discs. These are large diameter discs that are PDGA approved. Most of these discs are pretty much irrelevant in modern competitive disc golf, but the Condor is still popular in some communities as an approach disc or even a roller disc with it’s large blunt rim. The Condor is also a popular disc for playing catch to warm up before competitive rounds.
I often call the Innova Groove the punchline disc of disc golf. I give it this name because it is often joked about as being one of the worst discs. However, for those who have actually used this distance driver, it isn’t a bad disc at all and could even be described as underrated. It gets the jokes because of why it is named the Groove. There is a dip/groove in the rim of the disc that is kind of weird looking. However, when throwing the disc backhand, you can’t feel the groove at all. It may influence forehand shots, but for stable distance backhand shots, the Groove is a great disc.
The Dynamic Discs Justice is unique not because of how it looks but how it flies. The Justice is a ridiculously overstable midrange disc that has pretty much no glide at all. The insane overstability makes this disc is a popular choice in windy conditions. But this unique disc is not only used in those conditions. It is a popular choice for approach shots and trying to get around a tight bend.
The Prodigy M5 might be the worst selling disc among our nominees today, but it has something so unique that it is worth adding to our list. It is the most understable midrange in the Prodigy lineup, and it features a really funky rim. When you look at the bottom of the disc, it almost looks like there is a smaller disc stuck inside of a larger disc. The M5 looks like it has two rims. It isn’t a bead, but it is just two bumps that look like the bottom of two different beadless midranges. It is kind of weird and very unique.
The Latitude 64 Missilen was the first ever disc released with a speed rating of 15. And to my knowledge, it is still the only disc with a speed rating this high. To achieve this rating, the Missilen features one of the larges rims in disc golf, but that isn’t even the most unique thing about this disc. Across the top of the flight plate there are little hexagonal pock marks in the plastic which is designed to influence the flight of the disc. It does influence the flight offering a unique flight that is a little tricky to get the hang of at first, but those who have learned how to use the Missilen are able to throw the disc very far.
The HyzerBomb Moab is a super overstable disc that flirts with the line between midrange and fairway driver. It is one of the only discs that is comparable with the Dynamic Discs Justice as far as how overstable it is. This disc is a meethook that will fight any wind. It also has a unique rim that is more aerodynamic on the edge like a driver, but it has a divot in it that kind of functions as a really large bead. The Moab is a different kind of disc to say the least.
The Innova Nova wasn’t the first disc to be made with an overmold, but it features one of the most unique overmolds in disc golf. MVP/Axiom features only discs with an overmold, but when you look at their shape, they look similar to other discs that don’t have an overmold. But The Nova has a totally different shape, featuring a very tall rim. Also this disc flies like no other with hardly any fade at all due to this unique overmold.
The Latitude 64 Sinus is a pretty popular approach putter. It features three textured “patches” along the top of the disc designed to offer extra grip for your thumb placement when gripping the disc. Each patch has different textures so you can choose the one that is most comfortable for your grip. In flight, the Sinus is pretty overstable and is a good choice for battling the wind.
There are several older Innova putters that are pretty unique now, but most of them are basically obsolete. But the Innova Sonic has seen a resurgence in recent years. Garrett Gurthie has even made it one of his signature tour series discs. It is a straight flyer that is similar to the Nova in that it is very fade resistant. It has a rim that is similar to an ultimate disc and features grooves on the top for thumb grip. and it has a unique flight plate that is reminiscent of cheap promo discs you will get for free at a parade or from a dentists office. But don’t let that fool you. The Sonic is a great straight flying disc for approach and even putting.
The Reptilian Stego is an often forgotten disc coming from a smaller name brand. The manufacturer’s turn rating for this disc is a +1. For those of you unfamiliar with turn ratings, this means that the disc does not turn, which means the Stego is a massively overstable midrange disc. It also features a little lip on the top near the rim called a thumb track.
The Best Unique Disc Golf Disc

There were so many great unique discs nominated, but ever since the Innova Nova was released in 2013, it has been in a class of it’s own as far as uniqueness goes. While all MVP/Axiom discs feature an overmold, the Nova overmold is different and unlike anything else on the market. Also the flight is unique offering an ultra-straight flight pattern with almost no fade at all. And considering how well the Nova sells and how often you see top pros throwing it, the disc’s uniqueness is working for it. If you have never tried the Innova Nova and feel like trying something different and unique, give one a try today!
This disc has a few different names. It is the specialty disc or the get-out-of-trouble disc. Some people even call it their “Oh…shoot” disc. We are simply calling it the utility disc. It is the disc that you wish you had in your bag when you are stuck under a tree or are facing a unique approach shot. You can use it forehand, backhand, and sometimes even overhead or scoober. For a lot of disc golfers, while it isn’t used often, it is one of the most valuable discs in their collection because they find themselves using it more and more, and they would feel lost without it out on the course.
Discs With Unusual Shapes and Extreme Flight Characteristics
To find the best utility disc, we will be mostly looking at discs with a unique flight and shape. Our nominees will also mostly be overstable discs as they are common discs for this purpose. As always, our two keywords are popularity and utility. We are looking for popular discs that can be utilized by disc golfers of all skill levels. Also for this category we want discs that can be utilized in a variety of ways.
Best Utility Disc Nominees
So let’s take a look at our nominees for The Infinite Discs Best Disc Golf Disc: Utility Disc.
The Innova Firebird might end up with the most nominations by the end of these posts, but that’s what makes it a perfect nomination for the utility disc category. The Firebird is so versatile. It is an overstable fairway driver that is thrown backhand, forehand and overhand all over the course. And then if you find yourself in trouble, you can use it to get out of trouble in a variety of ways including overhead shots. The Firebird is consistently a best seller, and it is easy to see why.
The Innova Gator hasn’t been in one of these posts for a little while, but it is a fantastic utility midrange disc. The Gator is a beaded midrange with a very overstable flight. It is great for getting around tight corners or fighting tough winds. In extreme winds it has even been seen on the putting greens in professional disc golf tournaments. So the Innova Gator is a great disc to have in the bag for those “just in case” situations.
The Westside Harp has received a few nominees, and it is a great utility disc that can serve several purposes for disc golfers. It has a beadless rim and flat top that makes it very comfortable for forehand throws. The Harp is an overstable approach putter that can be used all over the course and like many of these discs, it offers extra help if some unexpected winds pick up during your round.
The Dynamic Discs Justice is a monster of a disc. Is in an extremely overstable beaded midrange. It is similar to the Innova Gator, but significantly more overstable. The Justice knows no glide. This disc wants to fall out of the sky as soon as you throw it. You might initially think this is a bad thing for a disc, but it helps fulfill the purpose of this specific disc. The Justice is a beast in the wind and offers a reliable flight that is crucial when selecting your utility discs.
The Innova Nova is our recent winner of the best driving putter. This disc is not anything close to overstable, so it doesn’t fit with most of these other nominees, but it has its own purposes as a utility disc. For one, it is an ultra-straight flying disc with nearly no fade at the end. So if you find your self in the trees with a tight tunnel to get back to the fairway, the Nova could do the trick. Also the unique overmold offers a very sticky landing. So if you are throwing onto a small island and don’t want your disc to skip or roll off the island, the Nova is a great choice again.
The Latitude 64 XXX was one of our nominees for the best overhead discs. It is pretty similar to the Innova Firebird with a flatter rim. This rim makes the XXX a great choice for short overstable roller shots Have you ever been stuck behind a giant bush or tree and the basket is just on the other side? You don’t want to take two shots to give yourself a look at the basket, so a little flick or backhand roller shot could be just what you need, and the XXX is a great choice to execute this shot with (I might be speaking from experience).
The Best Utility Disc
The time has come for us to announce the winner for the Infinite Discs Best Disc Golf Disc: Utility Disc! This is a category that had several nominees that are great discs for all kinds of situations. Again, we know that these posts aren’t completely objective and free of bias, but we do try our best to be as objective as possible. All that being said, we feel good about our choice for this category. Before we reveal the winner, let’s first review the nominees:

THE INFINITE DISCS BEST DISC GOLF DISC: Utility Disc
The Innova Firebird has been featured in a few of these posts, and it seems like the clear winner for this category. The other nominees are great options as well, but what was the tipping point in favor of the Firebird is that it is a driver. This gives it a bit more versatility as a utility disc. It is great forehand and backhand, and if you need to navigate a straight shot you can put it on an anhyzer release and flex the flight. So whether it is an Innova Firebird or a similar disc, a dependable utility disc is an essential part of an experienced disc golfers bag.

Well, the holidays are over, and it is the dreaded disc golf off season! But we at Infinite Discs are doing our best to make the snow and cold more bearable! It is time for the next article in our best discs series. Today, we are announcing the nominees for The Infinite Discs Best Disc Golf Discs: Roller Disc. It has been a couple weeks, so just to review, the two key words we always use when choosing our best discs are popularity and utility. The utility part of this equation is a little tougher when it comes to roller discs, because a roller shot is generally a skill shot that is executed by more experienced disc golfers. However, we will try to include popular discs and ones that are good for learning how to throw the roller. This is a difficult category, because the roller can be executed in a variety of ways with a variety of discs. All that being said, here are our nominees!
The Prodigy F7 is considered THE roller disc in the Prodigy lineup. It is their most understable fairway driver, and it is available in lots of weights and plastic blends. Prodigy is sometimes considered not beginner friendly because their discs tend to be less understable, but the F7 is a great choice for learning the roller, and continuing to use as your game improves.
The Discmania FD was nominated in our best beginner discs, and in that post I mentioned how the D-Line FD is noticeably more understable than the other plastic types. A lighter weight might be too understable for roller shots, but a heavier D-Line FD is a great choice for learning the roller shot and executing it with consistency.
The Latitude 64 Fury has become somewhat of a forgotten disc in the Trilogy lineup of discs with all the new releases they have come out with in recent years. But the Fury remains as one of the great understable fairway drivers in their lineup that is great for air shots and rollers. It is a great roller disc for golfers of all skill levels.
Similar to the Fury, the Westside Hatchet feels like a somewhat forgotten disc in the Trilogy lineup of discs. But for those who have been using both of these discs, many would find it hard to replace them. The Westside Hatchet performs a bit more understable than it’s flight ratings indicate. It is a fantastic fairway driver that disc golfers of all skill levels use not just for rollers, but also long turning air shots.
This is the third nomination for the Innova Leopard. This is one of the most popular fairway drivers for beginners and experienced disc golfers, and it can be used in a variety of ways. The Leopard is a great choice for learning and executing the roller shot that is available in a variety of plastic blends.
The MVP Orbital is an extremely understable distance driver that works well as a distance roller disc. This disc is a great first distance driver for newer golfers. Then as those beginners’ arm speeds improve, the Orbital can then be used by those same players as a roller disc.
The Westside Queen is by far the highest speed disc on this list. Generally Fairway drivers are chosen for roller discs, but the Westside Queen is very understable for how fast it is, and it allows for a lot of air time before it makes contact with the ground and begins its roll, which makes it a good choice for longer distance rollers and ones in a more open fairway.
This disc was also nominated in our beginner discs post, and in that blurb I mentioned that it has grown in popularity as a roller disc. The Innova Sidewinder has been a popular choice for players of all skill levels for a long time. Newer players may have a hard time rolling a max weight Sidewinder, but they should be able to work with the lighter weights. Part of what makes the Sidewinder so popular is its use for hyzer-flip air shots and roller shots.
THE INFINITE DISCS BEST DISC GOLF DISC: ROLLER DISC
This is the Innova Sidewinder‘s second nomination and first win. Like was mentioned above, this category is especially subjective, but for disc golfers of any skill level who want to learn how to throw a roller, the Sidewinder is a great choice. The Sidewinder is an understable driver that offers a nice smooth turning flight pattern that can easily be manipulated for rollers. So whether you are new to the roller or a roller veteran, the Innova Sidewinder is a fantastic disc to throw.

As we enter the new year it’s the perfect time to discuss the best disc golf discs for beginners! What is a beginner disc? Today we are looking for discs that you would purchase for someone who has never thrown a disc before or maybe only played a handful of times.
Like always, the two key words we use when choosing our best discs are popularity and utility. We want to choose a beginner disc that is popular and can be utilized by many disc golfers. Since this category is beginner discs, the last key word is kind of baked into the name of the category. It is vitally important that the best beginner disc can be utilized by beginner disc golfers (obviously…).
The Discraft Archer is one of the newest discs on this list as it was recently the disc featured in the 2016 Discraft Ace Race. The Archer is kind of a hybrid between a midrange and control driver featuring a small rim that fits comfortably in all sizes of hands. As will be the case with all of our nominees today, it is an understable disc. The midrange in the disc allows it to glide and hold straight in the air with minimal fade at the end.
A few of our nominations today are discs that were designed and made specifically with the beginner in mind, and the Dynamic Discs Breakout is one of those discs. The Breakout is available in a few plastic types, but it is only made in lighter weights. It is not the most understable of the beginner made molds, but the lighter weight allows the disc to perform more understable and makes it a great choice for the first driver for newer as well as younger players who do not have the arm strength of an adult.
The Latitude 64 Diamond is also a disc designed for the beginner disc golfer. The Diamond is available in several plastic types but again, it is not available in heavy weights. The Diamond is one of the most understable discs on the market, and when you combine that with the lighter weights it is made in, the Diamond becomes a great choice for people who have never played disc golf before.
The Discmania FD is a beginner disc that players can grow their game around as it is still a popular disc among experienced disc golfers as well. As mentioned in previous posts, Discmania does a good job of differentiating different runs and plastic blends for each disc, and the D-Line FD is noticeably more understable than the other plastic types, making it a great choice for beginners.
The Latitude 64 Jade is kind of the cousin of the Diamond. Both discs are only available in light weights and designed specifically for beginner disc golfers. The Jade offers a little more stability than the Diamond, but it is still a great choice for an understable beginner driver. So if you tried the Diamond and think you’d want to try something with just a hair more stability, the Jade would be a great next disc for you.
The Innova Leopard was featured as one of our fairway drivers nominees, and like the FD it is also a disc that players can learn to build their game around. The DX Leopard is featured in the popular Innova Starter Sets, and is one of the most used discs for beginners as it is widely available in sporting goods stores. It is also popular as it is one of the least expensive plastic blends, so folks who are maybe just wanting to give disc golf a try will choose a cheaper disc like a DX Leopard.
This is by far the highest speed disc on our list today. Generally distance drivers are not great beginner discs, but the Innova Mamba is so understable it has been a popular choice for beginners for a long time. The Mamba is also a popular second or third disc choice for beginners, and is a great first distance driver for those who are trying out the higher speeds for the first time.
These final two nominees are pretty similar, and players who haven’t used either of them often get them mixed up. But the Innova Roadrunner is the slightly more understable of the pair of discs, which in some ways could be used to argue that it is also more beginner friendly. Another nice thing about the Innova Roadrunner is beginner disc golfers can learn to continue using this disc as their game improves.
The Innova Sidewinder has been around for a long time, but has definitely seen a resurgence in the sales charts. Part of this could be because of its increasing popularity as a roller disc. But the Sidewinder also has always been a popular choice as a beginner disc with an easy to use understable flight that is easy to learn and grow with.

THE BEST DISC GOLF DISC for Beginners 2019: Latitude 64 Diamond
This category was difficult to choose a winner in. All of our nominees and many others that were not nominated are great discs for beginners. But the Latitude 64 Diamond is one of the few disc golf discs that is manufactured specifically for beginners, and it has become one of the most popular and loved discs in that category. The Latitude 64 Diamond is one of the most understable fairway drivers on the market, and it is only manufactured in lighter weights which gives it more understability. This in turn makes it one of the easiest drivers to throw for players who are just learning how to throw disc golf discs. It is also a great selection for weaker arms and children who are starting to play disc golf. If you are new to disc golf and have struggled throwing some of the old discs that your friends have let you borrow, grab a Latitude 64 Diamond and give it a try.

The Christmas Holiday is fast “approach”-ing! Seems like a great time to talk about the best disc golf approach discs! What is an approach disc? for our purposes today, we are going to be talking about the discs you would use inside of your personal driving range when you are trying to set up a nice and easy putt to finish off a hole out on the course.
Before we list our nominees for The Infinite Discs Best Disc Golf Disc: Approach Disc, let’s again review what we are looking for when making our selection. Our two key words are popularity and utility. We want to choose a popular approach disc that is utilized and can be utilized in a variety of situations out on the course. We want this disc to be good for short approach shots as well as a driving putter for short disc golf holes. We also are not limiting these discs that are just categorized in the more broad putt and approach classification of discs, but they can be from any of the four traditional classifications.
That being said, we do not track this subcategory in our sales lists, so we will first review the chart we had on last week’s post, which is the best selling Putt and Approach discs of 2018 so far:
Prodigy Disc recognized the difference between putters and approach discs a few years ago with the release of their “A” series of discs. all four discs in the series have been popular, but the Prodigy A2 has been the best seller this year, and it offers a stability that makes it very workable for disc golfers. It is an overstable disc with a more shallow molding that is comfortable in the hand. If you don’t put enough power behind it, it can be a bit of a meathook, but when thrown hard with a smooth release the A2 will hold straight and offer a reliable fade at the end.
The Axiom Envy was included in our nominees for best putter, and this overstable putter works great for those looking for a nice overstable approach disc that they can also use for putting. It has a nice flat top and a rim that fits comfortably in the hand for both backhand and forehand throws. The Envy is now available in a large variety of Axiom‘s plastic blends as well.
The Innova Firebird is the only driver we are nominating as an approach disc as it is a commonly used disc especially for forehand approach shots. The Firebird is an overstable disc that is especially popular for those who have a hard time gripping midranges or putters with a forehand grip. It is also a great option for approach shots in a stiff wind.
The Innova Gator is definitely one of the staples of this category. It was nominated in our midrange awards a few weeks ago, but it is mostly used as a true approach disc. The Gator is an overstable disc that features a flat top (sometimes :)) and a noticeable bead along the bottom of the disc. It is a disc that is great in the wind and offers a little more distance than some of the putters we have nominated as well.
The Westside Harp has become one of the most popular discs as Ricky Wysocki has thrown it all over his tour over the last few years. With Latitude 64 announcing that Wysocki will no longer be a part of their sponsorship team, it will be interesting to see if he will still throw the Harp. But either way, the Westside Harp is a fantastic overstable approach disc that has also become a very popular forehand disc. It is available in several plastic blends that offer slight variations in stability and flight that help to make the Harp one of the best approach discs on the market.
Another disc that we nominated in the midrange category, the Dynamic Discs Justice is a beefy overstable disc that is often used as an approach disc. It is great for making an approach when you need to get around a sharp corner. It also holds up in stiff winds. Like I said in the midrange article, pretty much nothing is going to make the Justice turn over in flight.
The Hyzerbomb Mortar was also nominated in the midrange discs, but it is primarily used as an approach disc. The mold is just like an Innova Gator but it has a beadless rim. This makes it more friendly to forehand throws, but it still has a strong overstable flight that is workable from all over the disc golf course.
The Innova Nova is one of only two Innova molds that features an overmold design, and it has grown into one of the most popular discs in their lineup. The Nova is not very popular as a putting putter, but is has one of the most unique flights in the disc golf world. It also has a unique mold and shape that is one of the tallest discs. It is a truly stable disc in that it is very straight with almost no fade at all at the end. It is a bit touchy and can be turned over in the wind or if thrown too hard. But when thrown correctly, it flies so straight and reliable.
The Discmania P2 was also nominated in our putter category and is currently the best selling putt and approach disc on the market. I mentioned last week that Discmania has done a great job of differentiating be benefits of each plastic type, and that is especially applicable to those who use the P2 as an approach disc. The S-Line P2 is known as the most overstable P2 and the D-Line is one of the more understable versions. Both plastic blends are popular driving putters that can serve different purposes for your approach game.
In this category we nominated putters and midranges ranging from stable to very overstable, and the Westside Harp is the perfect middle ground of all of them. It is an overstable putt and approach disc that disc golfers fall in love with after just a few throws. The Harp‘s flat profile and smooth rim makes it a great selection for forehand and backhand throws. It has enough stability to fight some wind and provide a predictable fade, but it isn’t a meathook that is going to be too much for newer throwers to handle. Welcome to December disc golfers! Hopefully these best disc golf discs posts are helping you survive the off-season! And today we have a category that may cause some fights. We all have our favorites, but today we at Infinite Discs are going to try to select one disc golf putter as the best!
Before listing the nominees for The Infinite Discs Best Disc Golf Disc: Putter, let’s break down what we are looking for when making our selection. The two words I always come back to are popularity and utility. We want to choose a popular putter that is utilized by disc golfers of every skill level. Also, please note that this category is titled “Putter” and not “Putt and Approach.” We will be splitting those categories. For our purposes today, we are naming discs that are most commonly used as the disc inside 50 feet or so when you are trying to hole out. So for example, the Westside Harp which is an overstable Putt and Approach disc that is most commonly known for approaching will not be nominated in this category.
That being said, let’s take a look at the best selling Putt and Approach discs of 2018 so far:
Some of you might be surprised to see the Innova Sonic make the top 10, but there were some special editions released during this year that helped to boost those sells. Beyond that, these are all very familiar names that those who are close to disc golf shouldn’t be surprised to see make the top 10.
The Putt and Approach category is what helped put MVP on the map, but the MVP Atom wasn’t released until a few years later and has become the most popular putter in their lineup. It has a very comfortable rim that seems to be the perfect middle ground between their two original putters, the Anode and Ion. The Atom offers a flight that is straight and reliable, and of course, MVP gives you its signature Gyro technology with the overmold on all of their discs.
This disc is a common first putter to own with the DX Aviar available at most sporting goods stores, but it is the McPro Aviar that has kept this mold at the top of the sales chart. It will be interesting to see how Innova brands that plastic blend next year with Paul McBeth leaving. Either way, the Aviar is a beadless putter that offers a straight and reliable flight that is great for disc golfers of all skill levels.
The Latitude 64 Dagger is the tallest putter on the market, which allows for a nice glide. The large bead and “deep dish” might make the Dagger a little harder for smaller hands, and it is an adjustment for golfers used to pretty much any other putter, but those who learn to use it can be lethal with long range putts (just ask Raptor Legs Ricky…).
The Axiom Envy is a slightly overstable putter that flirts with the line between approach and putting putters, this putter has a flatter top and of course the gyro technology overmold. The Envy like the Dagger, is not your typical putter, but those who take the time to practice with it enjoy the way it feels in their hand and the way it performs on the course.
The Dynamic Discs Judge has become one of the standards of the Putt and Approach category since its release in 2012. The Judge is a beaded putter that has a comfortable height that is perfect for all hand sizes and ages. The Judge is a straight flying putter that is very predictable and easy to learn to use.
The Discmania P2 has been on the market for over 10 years, but recently it has become one of the best selling discs in the world regardless of category. The P2 is a popular approach putter as well as putting putter. It is a tall, beadless disc that offers a very comfortable grip and predictable, straight flight. Discmania does a good job as well of differentiating the different plastic blends and the benefits of each blend. But regardless of plastic type, the P2 offers a flight that offers something for disc golfers of all skill levels.
The Latitude 64 Pure is another unique putter that has a strong following among those who use it. It is a shallow, beadless, and understable putter that feels just a bit different when compared to other putters. The small and short rim might be uncomfortable for players with larger hands, and the understable flight is not ideal for the wind, but in the right conditions this disc flies true to its name–pure. The Pure goes straight for a long time, making it great for longer putts.
The Warden is another standard in the Dynamic Discs family. The Warden‘s mold is basically a beadless Judge that flies just as straight and just as consistently. If you have tried the Judge and decided you like it but the bead isn’t for you, then you shouldn’t skip a beat switching to the Warden. And of course, vice-versa.
The Wizard has been doing it for over 15 years, and has become the “old reliable” in the putters category. It has an average to slightly taller height and a beaded rim that fits great for all ages and hand sizes. The Wizard is a straight flying putter that can be lethal from distance as well. Gateway has also done a great job of making the Wizard available in LOTS of plastic blends. So from Firm to Really Freakin’ Flexible or anywhere in between, you should be able to find a Wizard that is right for you.
This might be our most debatable selection so far, but the Wizard has been a popular choice for disc golfers for years. The Wizard is a great disc that covers just about everything you need in a putter, and when you add in the fact that it is available in a plethora of plastic blends, there is a Wizard for just about everyone. You don’t see the top sponsored pros throwing the Wizard much due to Gateway being a smaller fish in the sponsorship market, but when you take a look back in time to what some of the big names were throwing before they got manufacturer’s sponsorship, a lot of them were putting with the Wizard. For example, Kevin Jones, who just announced he will be throwing Prodigy Disc equipment in 2019, was a big proponent of the Pure White Wizard during the 2018 season.

Paul McBeth started off the 2019 competitive season with the Predator as his overstable fairway driver until later switching to the Anax which is part of his signature line. Interestingly, the Predator and the Anax have very similar flight characteristics, so it doesn’t seem that much was changed-up for Paul’s overstable fairway needs.
